G.Lane, Atty.

In the name of God, Amen. I George Thomas of the County of Harrison State of Texas knowing the uncertainty of life and being in feeble health but of sound and disposing mind do make this my last will and testament.
1st I will that all my just debts be paid

2nd I will and bequeath to my son John Thomas my negro Boy named John about 18 years of age of Black Complexion.

3rd I give and bequeath to my son William William Thomas my two negro boys, Bob aged about 20 years, black complexion and Burrel age about 19 years yellow complexion also my home place on which I live being two tracts, one tract on the head right certificate of John Page and the other tract on the Headright certificate of John S. Bell. Also every thing on said home place consisting of horses mules, cattle, oxen hogs, sheep goats household and kitchen furniture and everything else with the wagons and farming utensils and said place whether mentioned herein or not. The reason of my giving my son William So much is that he is my youngest son and has always lived with me till he went to the war and was obedient and kind to me in my old age and labored for me and the rest and never made anything for himself and for the further reason he is to pay all of my just debts out of said pay and none of other children's property is to be touched for this payment of my said debts, but William is to pay all and I want my daughter Betty Goodwin to stay on the place with my son William. While she remains a widow and my son William is to take care of her in her widowhood on said place.

4th I give and bequeath to my Grandson James Snowden Son of daughter Polly Snowden my negro boy named Benton age about 25 years black complexion also my negro Girl named Polly Ann about 12 years black complexion.

5th I give and bequeath to my daughter Betty Goodwin my negro woman Mahala age about 30 years black complexion

6th I give and bequeath to my two daughters Harriet James & Judy Richardson three hundred and twenty acres of land situated in Harrison County near the big Cypress and known as the William Thomas place.

7th As to my old cook woman, Violet. I don't want any of them to have but she is to remain on the place and under the control and management of my son William in old age he is to take care of her.

8th The reason of my not giving more to my other Children is that I have hereto fore given them of their part and as to my daughter Eliza Glint and Harriet Flint in addition to a negro a piece formerly given them I have done much further otherwise and in a measure raised their families.

9th I appoint my said son William Thomas Executor of this my last will

10th It is my will that the county Court pertaining to Estates do nothing in this settlement of my Estate than the probate and recording of this my last and the return of an inventory.

In testimony of all which I here unto sign my name and scroll for Seal this the 30th day of June
A. D. 1864.
