Mr. James Clark Rolan, 72, of Abbott died Saturday, December 14, at his residence. He was born November 11, 1930 in Richland Springs, son of the late Isaac Newton and Effie Wade Rolan. He grew up in Richland Springs, Lometa and San Saba, where he attended school. An Army veteran, he was a truck driver for many years, a machinist and worked for Robintech of Hillsboro for 16 years. He was a former resident of Los Alamitos, California where he was a member of its sheriff’s posse. He had been a resident of Abbott for 27 years. He was married to the former Ruthie LaVerne Dunn. He was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, James Rolan of Hillsboro and Robert Rolan of Abbott; one daughter, Pam Shaw of Abbott; two brothers, A. D. Rolan of Longview and Jesse Ray Rolan of Huntsville; one sister, Effie Lee Ratliff of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, at Hickey Cemetery near Hillsboro with Kenneth Taylor officiating.
