I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. On 2 June 1917 Brashear City Marshal Will BRIDGES entered the Jack MAUNEY grocery store. One of his two daughters, Maude, started hollering at the city marshal to leave and then shot and killed him. Maude MAUNEY was tried for murder but was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 5 years in prison. She made an insanity defense. I am serching for surviving family members of Marshal Bridges and any additional information about the incident.
