Hi,

How about donating them electronically to RootsWeb's Hutchinson County web site, www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txhutchi/. They have a category for County Postcards. Their web site master can tell you how to do this.

Also the Hutchinson County Historical Museum, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hutchinson_County_Historical_Mu... would undoubtedly like to have them.

Hi,

The Hutchinson County RootsWeb web site, www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txhutchi/ has a category for School Districts. Seems like this would be the perfect place online for the info in your school yearbooks. There is a link at that web site to their web master.

If you want to physically donate them, there is a Hutchinson County Genealogical Society, http://texashistory.unt.edu/explore/partners/HCGS/. Looks like they're affiliated with their County Museum. Their phone # is 806-273-0130.

How generous of you to want to donate them where they will be seen and used by a larger audience! Reminds me that I need to do the same with my father's yearbooks.

I have two postcards that are from 1929 or earlier. Both are sepia colored. The first is labled Santa Fe Depot 584 ft long, Borger Texas. It is a side view of the the depot. Although it says Santa Fe Depot on the card the name below the Santa Fe emblem is actually "ISOM". The second is labeled Black Carbon Camp, Borger Texas. My family wishes to donate these post cards to either a historical society or musuem in the Borger area. I would appreciate suggestions as to the best place to donate them. I would like to see the displayed if possible with a credit to my mother. They are from her collection.

My aunt, DeRay Bryan taught school in Borger from 1928 to 1941. I have some of her old school pictures and wondered if they could possibly be from Borger. She first taught at Weatherly and later at West Ward. These may not be Borger pictures as she also taught in Baylor and Lamb counties. The link to these pictures is below.

http://momentsintimeagenealogyblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/fami...

I have a lot of old pictures and many were taken in Borger. I have posted some on my blog (today I posted the Ferndale Motor Company) and many on my web pages. The links are below. I am unable to identify the people or location in many of the pictures.
I tried to find an obituary for Henry Neeley. His name is not in the Borger Daily Herald Index. I pulled the 1943 microfilm and looked the whole month of February 1943 and found nothing. Try the Amarillo Library as they have Newspapers for the two papers that were in operation in 1943.

On 11 Dec 1929, Mary Bell Weir Coin (daughter of C. E. Weir) died from "burns over her entire body" at St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo. She was a resident of Sanford. Her husband's name was Roy Leon Coin. Death certificate says that she was buried in Dallas. No cemetery was named. On 15 Mar 1930, her young son Ray Kenneth Coin (b. 13 Jul 1925) died from pneumonia related to measles in Sanford. Another son, Roy Leon Coin, Jr., died 16 Mar 1925 (dob 6 Nov 1922) from pneumonia related to measles in Sanford. The boys are buried in the Dallas County, also. Their graves are marked with a single grave marker. There is no grave marker for Mary. Leon Senior is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.

I am doing this research for a friend. We are curious about Mary's cause of death. Was there a fire at the Hotel where the family lived? and does anyone know where she is buried?

Hi - I received a message from Ancestry that you had responded to my query re the Higles. Much of what I've found is already on this message board. However, at the risk of telling you things you already know, here goes: Amasa married my great-aunt, Ester Barrett. Per the 1910 census her middle initial is "L" but I don't know yet what that stood for. Some researchers are calling her "Lena" but I don't know that that's true - she certainly wasn't called that by her family. I notice a Mrs. Lena Higle was the informant on Amasa's death cert, but that wasn't Esther. Amasa's 1918 draft registration shows him as a widower with 2 children. One of those would be William Hubert, as shown on the census, born in 1909. I have not been able to determine who the second child might have been. Family notes say that Esther died in Lamesa, TX, but there is no death cert for her, nor does she appear on any cemetery listings I've found. It is certain that she died before 1920 and possibly as early as 1911 - that's when Amasa appears to have gone to Tampico, Mexico, for several years. Were his children with him? I don't know. I haven't found William H. on any 1920 census (Amasa was still in Mexico) - he doesn't turn up again until 1930, when I believe he is the "Hubert" living with David and Cora Higle. Esther's parents were John Timothy Barrett, b. 1860 in Alabama, and Nancy Winburn Morehead, b. 27 Sep 1870 in Arkansas. Her siblings were William Carl (my grandfather), Robert Isaac, James Dale, Thomas Dewey, Vera Viola, and Arthur Ruben. I can provide you with birth and death dates for all of the children except Robert if you would like them. Also for Nancy. I don't know exact dates for John T. I haven't been able to conclusively identify Robert except for that 1910 census. Unfortunately, his is such a common name that I can only guess about possibilities. None of the Barrett children lived to be very old, and no one now living seems to know anything about Bob. I've written to someone whom I believe to be a child of Lucille Higle Hale to see if they have any information, but I think it's a long shot. William's grave marker bears the inscription "Lucille's Beloved Nephew," so my hope is that they were close friends. Amasa shows his home of record as being in Oklahoma on one of his passport applications, and it's possible Bob went there also. Gosh, this doesn't help a lot with Walter but there seems to be a lot of info out there on the other Higles, including on this forum. I hope this is of help to you. I have a photo of Amasa and Esther - they look so young.

I am a descendant of the Higle family. My grandfather was Walter H. Higle who was brother to Amasa Higle. I would be interested in any information that you had. Debra
