Lt J.R. Giddens died at the Chisum Ranch from his wounds received at the Battle of Dove Creek. He was a member of the CSA and brother to my GG GFather.
I have read he was buried on the ranch on the banks of the Concho. Does anyone know if the burial site still exist. I fear it has been washed away from floods of the river.
Also are there any maps available for the site of the battle and would I be able to locate the battle site if I visit there.
Lt. Giddens had six sons at the time of his death and I am in contact with many of his ancestors. The Lt. was raised in Red River County after being born in ILL, and moved to Tx about 1833 as a small boy. Any help appreciated.
