Susan, You are a relative I haven't had contact with. Simon Cocral White was my gr.grandfather. I am granddaughter of Jacob White. Yes, Simon was born in Culpeper Co.,VA, but died on 9/23/1873 in Iberia, LA. I have papers from Jackson Co., TX confirming this. His wife Nancy, remained in Goliad TX until her death in 1906. Her remains were moved from a cemetery at Couch, Tx, to City cemetery in Kenedy, TX. She lived with the oldest daughter, Mary Busby. No, I don't know who Simon's father was, but almost sure his mother was named Sarah. If you want more information, I have a lot. Please contact me as I would like to know you and family. I remember my father Oscar mentioning the name Uncle Philip. You have heard the same story of Nancy being adopted and being raised in Beeville that I have. I only live 23 miles from Beeville, but can find no evidence of this happening. I believe she was born and raised in LA. Anyway, will be waiting to hear from you and where you live. I am interested in what your mother's paper had to say about the White family.
