My mother, Josefina Fernandez-Rodriguez-Valdez de Saldana is the great, great grand-daughter of Concepcion Vidal thru Petra Vela de Vidal Kenedy by her first marriage to Luis Vidal. Concepcion was my mother's mother, Rosa Rodriguez-Fernandez de Valdez was the great-grand daughter to Concepcion Vidal.

I happen to come across this site by chance and immediately recognized the name and wanted to share this info with you.

Ever since I can remember, my mother would make a point of telling me the history of her mother's family. All by memory. She would have me repeat it back to her if I wanted some ice-cream. I also know of the legal battle for the inheritance between the two family's Vidal and Kenedy. It took 18 years to settle. My mother has the newspaper clippings of the story after both families had reached an agreement. I beleive that they settled sometime in the mid to late 1970's.

My mother was born in Laredo, Tx and met my father in Cuidad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. After I was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (1969), my father decided to settle in California. We have lived here since then. However, we go back to visit family in Mier, Monterrey and McAllan, Tx where my oldest brother lives.

According to some information a have, there was a person named Manuel Rodriguez Cavazos who was brother of Francisca Rodriguez Cavazos. Manuel Rodriguez married to a lady with a last name Vela and they had a daughter called Sara Rodriguez Vela and a son Federico Rodriguez Vela. I really don`t know if there where more siblings. I just know Federcio married three times. I would appreciate if you could help me to solve the relation to Petra Vela

Thanks for your answer. Do you know if your mother in law is relative of Sara Rodriguez born in Monterrey sometime around august 15 1918 and died about 1967. She went to leave to Texas and she died in Texas.

Is the Armstrong Ranch, 20 miles south of Sarita, still named the Armstrong Ranch? If not, what is the name of the ranch at this time? Who is in charge of managing this ranch and what is the telephone number of this person? I need to be able to visit the burial site of John Barclay Armstrong, died 5-1-1913, who the ranch was owned and named after. He was a famous Texas Ranger and is buried in a family cemetery on the Armstrong Ranch.

I am a decendant of the same bloodline of Petra Vela I have a family tree and have been looking into the history of her and me family. Does anyone have access to the Kenedy County marriage records? My father Thomas Edward Kirby married a lady named "Jo" (last name unknown to me) between 1930-1940 somewhere in the Valley. I didn't know about their marriage until recently and would love to have a copy of the record of their marriage. He died when I was 3, so I don't remember him at all, so trying to "piece" together his life through research. If anyone goes to the courthouse to do research, I would really appreciate your help. Sarah m. (2)Robert Fryer (spelling variations Fryar, Friar)1900 Cuero, DeWitt Co., Texas. Robert was b. 1871 Leon Co., Texas d. abt 1909 San Saba, Texas. They had 1 child - George Fryer-lived in San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas at the time of her death. (Family legend says that his name was Jack-the obituary says George.)

Sarah m. (3)John Green Kelly marriage date unknown. John was b. 1858 in possibly Montgomery or Frio Co., Texas, d. abt 1938 Texas.
They had 1 child - Charlie Kelly-lived in Los Angeles, California at the time of her death. I have no further information on him.

The only other information I have for Sarah Jane Wilkins is that she has a niece named Susie Wilkins who lived in
Morse, Okfuskee Co., Ok.; Star Route in care of J. J. Whitson in 1918. I have a copy of letter that the niece wrote to Mr. J. (looks like S.) & S J Kelly when they lived in Beaukiss, Texas. (I think that is Bastrop Co., Texas.)

Sarah lived in Goldthwaite, Mills Co.,Texas at the time she passed away.

Her obituary mentions her granddaughter, Mrs. Hoyt Creely of McGregor, step children-Alozo Kelly of Goldthwaite, Mills Co., Texas, Berry Kelly of San Saba Co., Texas, and Mrs. Posie Hagerton of Abilene, Taylor Co., Texas.

Any information/documentation, etc. on these people, parents, siblings, spouses, children would help tremendously.

Hello. I am trying to find more information on my great grandfather Bernardo De Los Santos. He was born August 28, 1891 in the Mier region of Mexico. He married Urbania Garcia and together they had eight children: Nieves, Amparo, Herminia, Tiofilo, Alejandro, Alberto, Guadelupe and Salvedor. He died in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 24, 1969. I do know that he had a brother named Espiridion and a sister named Margarita. What I am specifically looking for are names of any other brothers or sisters he may have had, as well as any information on their parents. ie. names, birth dates, death dates, place of birth, place of death, etc. I do know that relatives of this De Los Santos family may still reside in the Kenedy area of Texas. Hi, online records say, Kendey Co., was formed in
1921. Look in these counties before then.
Cameron Co., Hidalgo Co., and Willacy Co.

You are correct, The Armstrong Ranch is a about 15 to 20 miles south on US 77 just past the town of Sarita, in Kenedy County, Texas. I don’t know who is in charge of the ranch, However you can find more information at the Henrietta King Museum in Kingsville, Texas, The Armstrong are descendants of the King's. You may find most of the information you need in this place.

I am trying to find information on My Grandfather Epitacio Gutierrez, I am not sure where he was born, but I do know that he is buried in Kenedy, TX. I am not able to find anything on my Grandfather, I know that he died in Jan. 1927. I estimate that he was born around 1880-1883. I was about 2 years old when I visited his grave site, and I have a picture, but I would like to find out the name of the cemetery. I plan to visit Texas in March 2005, is there anyway of knowing the names of cemeteries in Kenedy, TX. I've been told it is the old cemetery. Any info. you can supply me with, would be greatly appreciated. I have learned that there are about six cemeteries in Kenedy alone. My Grandfather married Reyes Ramos (Bentancur) they had two children Manuela Gutierrez-Hernandez and Epitacio (Pete) Ramos Gutierrez. My grandfather died when my dad was only three.

Where can I find any records of the following: Abraham or Abram Olivares married Apolonia Medellin (Indian woman born in Texas). They lived in Choate, area approx. 1880 - 1890. My grandmother Josephina Olivares was born approx. 1900 in Choate, Texas. She married Jose Martinez in Kenedy and their children were born in Kenedy, Texas. I found one record of my aunt, Herminia Olivares in the Karnes County Courthouse. Could not find record of the other siblings. Jose and Josephina Martinez children were: Jose, Daniel, Pedro Carlos Rafaela, Consulea (died at a young age).

the kenedy librairy has always been helpful to me for information in the karnes county area. you might also trying the Bee county and see if they have any information there because of all the small towns in that area, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish what community is what
