Lena is a member of my family I have been working on the Goodrich side of the family for many years now with the Help of my great Aunt Anita whom is still alive to this great day. I have just returned from a trip that took me to Jayton Texas and I went to the Cemetery that was there. i was in much shock with what I found. I found the the sign that said cemetery and I followed its directions. It lead me to a empty, plowed lot. I started to get worried about what happened to the cemetery. I went back into town and asked a lady at the general store. She told me to follow the sign. I did a few times and it would always lead me back to the plowed, empty lot. I finialy saw a older man that was out side and I asked him and he told me that it had been moved and gave me the directions to the new site. Once my daughter and I found the new cemetery I was in such shock that I had to stop and cry and then I started to wonered if they were really there. This place looked as if it had only been there a few years at most. I noticed that some of the Headstones were new and with the condition that they were in you could tell they did not match up to the dates of time. I finally found a few of the headstones and I was still in shock. I was able to find the following headstones and I do have photos of them if any one would be interested. Ernest Leon Goodrich, Mayberm Dee Goodrich (was broken and looked to be caught on fire at some point, Sallie Bilberry Goodrich (it is sinking into the ground), My 4th great grandmother Isabella Jane James Goodrich Peek(you could tell that the headstone had been cut out of where it use to stand and placed in a small area. It looked as if they are still trying to place people in the ground some of the caskets could be seen because they were freshly buried. Then you could where animals have been digging in the ground. Some of the graves have no markers and some just say unknown. I did not find all the family that was suppost to be there. The is no one on site to talk with, but I wanted all the family to know what I found. i will also be writting a letter to the Jayton Cemetery commission in Jayton Texas to see how they can just up root out family and move them with out consent from the familes. If you would like more information please feel free to contact me. I also have most of the information on the families on my tree at Ancestry my name is cowdog26
