Designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in Texas Birth Index

Many people have been confused by the designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in the Father's Name Field in the Texas Birth Index.

I emailed the Texas Department of State Health Services and according to them:

This designation is actually **DEATH FILE NUMBER EXISTS***, and it means that the baby was deceased. At the time that the birth certificate was data entered, the only way to make the notation in the electronic record that the baby was deceased was to enter this in the father’s name fields. The actual birth certificate will show the name of the father if that information was available, and the birth certificate will be stamped "DECEASED."

This format is outdated, however, and no longer used.

Note: Several people have pointed out to me that Texas has made mistakes with this designation, so use good judgment and further research when you see this designation in the Index.

Second son of J.T. and Cynthia.I guess this doesnt change any thing. But i can hope. I have another J.T. Hardin in Greenville TX. I am looking for. Bur just wish it could of been your line. I am not getting any younger, and would like to finish this line before i am put under. FRANCES
Wish that I could help, but you've got excellent research skills, already! Guessing you are descended from James Ben Hardin/Minnie C. Temple? Do you have death certificates for both? How about certificates for Patrick F. and J. O. Hardin? If not, they are online https://familysearch.org/ There are five public trees on this family but none resolve the question of John Thomas Hardin's heritage.

Linda i have been looking for my John T.Hardin for many years. I have a page i copied from James Benjamian Hardin daughter bible. In it, it shows John T. Had two brothers Jacob and James Ben. In that order. It does not give any info. As to birth or place of birth. It does not give any thing on parents. John T. Was married in Caldwell Tx. To cynthia west in1874 they had three boys. John Oliver, James Ben, and Patrick Franklin. Patrick was born on1884. On this page list a daughter Etta . I thought for many years Cynthia was married before j.t. bbbbuuuuttt, for some reason Cynthia and John either divorced, or he died. I found that this child was infact Cynthia child from her next marrage to Felix Riddle
Married in 1890 Etta was the oldest child of two. So thos leaves me thomking J.T. hada brother Jacob, and Ben. ..to much info the same. Surley in the mamy yeats that John and Anna were married J.T. said something about his 1st. Family. When i started doing genplgy, only one of JamesBen. Childern was living. She didnt know anything about J.T. didnt even know his name, not even Cynthia name. Linda i wantto believe that this J.T. is mt line, but. I am lopking into another Hardin in Greenville tx. .please emale at mamafrank4@yahoo.com ....Frances

My name is Dennis Deaton a great grandson to the late Jesse Carl Deaton who died in Kerr county precinct 1 in 1962 Oct 31st. I am trying to find any and all information on this but have had no luck as the internet is not very personable. If anyone knows of any Deatons in Kerr County, could you please forward them my contact info at the bottom of this post. If anyone is willing or is down at the library to which they possibly have any old newspapers on file and happen to come across the obituarys on 31 Oct 1962 with my great grandfather's name and info especially next of kin stuff. Now that last part might sound strange but the fact of the matter is that my great-grandfather and grandfather (Carl Deaton) had a falling out and never spoke to each other after Carl went into the Navy until both of their deaths, I don't even know if Jesse(great grandfather) knew that his son died before him. Well I am soliciting all available help, if anyone is able, please let me know.
Thank you all for your assistance and time.
Much appreciative

Dennis Deaton
dennisdeaton@btinternet.com
janka.deaton@googlemail.com

By and By if anyone is wanting or needing any help with ancestors or relatives please shoot me an email and I will help double/triple team it for results.

Bradley is my 1st cousin twice removed. With your encouragement that this might be the Bradley I am researching, I am going to try harder to find a copy of the marriage cert in TX hoping that it would have names of Bradley's parents or some other info that would prove so. Thanks again....see your name often helping others with research...keep up the good work in the New Year.

The next available census is 1900 - 20 yrs later.

If he remains constant as to where his parents were born then it's better than a 50% you have the correct man.

How is he related to you?
Happy Holidays and thanks Tom. I did find a Brody Hudson in the 1880 census living in Deer Creek, Madison Cty, NE...same age and parents born in the right states. He was working as a laborer on a farm for an Ely family. What makes it more interesting his sister's former husband was living nearby in Madison, Madison Cty, NE but don't know how to prove if this is the Bradley P. Hudson I am researching....any ideas?

Just in time for the holidays! A great stocking stuffer!
If you haven’t read it yet, The Peasant Kings is a must read. It’s an historical novel depicting the lives of a German family who emigrated in the 1700's, from the village of Oberacker, Germany. These Dellinger men were the brothers Martin, Philipp, and Valentin who left in the 1740’s, and their cousin Jacob who fled in 1733.

The novel covers over 250 years of European and American history, terminating with the end of the American Revolutionary War. All historical information about places and events has been meticulously researched. Have you ever wondered about the details of how they managed to achieve such a move? Why did they want to leave their country? What was the Rhine journey like? How did they find a ship in Rotterdam? What were the conditions on the Atlantic voyage like? How did one search for and claim land in America? How did the Revolutionary War affect the lives of the settlers? The Peasant Kings will answer all those questions?

If your ancestors were German immigrants of the 1700's — no matter their surname — this book will reveal to you a real story of their struggle to come to the New World. More than just a wonderful narrative; extensive endnotes and bibliography will aid your research about your own ancestors.

To read more about The Peasant Kings, email: thepeasantking@gmail.com
I have seen (2) old newspaper reports from New Mexico, March of 1900, I believe, that indicate WALTON H. ROBERTS was a fugitive from Llano County TX and used an alias of JIM WALTON. In 1930 census, Llano County, his wife JOSEPHINE (DUNCAN) ROBERTS and the 2 sons are living with her widowed mother, JOSEPHINE (DUNMAM)DUNCAN. Josephine Duncan Roberts' father was JOHN BRUCE DUNCAN. I can only surmise that after the death of her mother, other heirs took the property and Josephine Roberts and her boys moved to Kerrville. Walton's father and mother, JAMES MADISON ROBERTS and SARAH E. TALLEY lived in the area (Banderea) for a while before moving to New Mexico where James died.

We have found some photos of postcards online and visited the site (nothing is there now except the remains of the swimming pool (backfilled). We would like to know when the motel ceased to operate and when it was torn down.

We only have one postcard photo of the motel when it was called Miller Courts. If anyone knows of more photos of Miller Courts, we would be interested in seeing the photos.

Thanks.

No online family tree accurately documents this Robert A. Pickens' death. Some agree his parents were William H. Pickens and Mary E. Robertson. Online death certificates viewable/printable for Robert's sons: Robert E. (10 Dec 1889 - 16 Aug 1969), Marion Everett (22 Jan 1892 - 3 Jan 1973), and Hunter Elmer (8 Mar 1888 - 13 Oct 1968). All of them, sons, registered for WWI Draft in Bandera County. Only Hunter Elmer was married and his brothers did not indicate their father was consideration for deferrment. In my reasoning, the father had expired prior to 1917?

Per online death certificate you are referencing, Robert was born 27 Jun 1883 in Jacksonville, Cherokee, TX to Taylor Pickens and Mattie Rountree. His wife identified as Alice. Let's find the correct death certificate?

Thanks for the reply.
I believe we are talking about two different Robert A Pickens. The Robert A Pickens I am interested in married Martha Elizabeth (Jones) Greenleaf abt 1883. He was born in September 1853 in Alabama. They had at least five children. I have his death date as March 22, 1934 in Kerr Co., Texas. Martha died December 22, 1908 in Bandera Co., Texas and is buried in Pipe Creek Cemetery Bandera, Bandera Co., Texas.

Thanks
Jerry
Unable to help with obit but there is so much more! View http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/16482828/person/585363273 for the "Pickens Giles Baker Booth Canterberry Tree" compiled by LCanterberry. Robert A. Pickens traced through 1910 Cherokee County. Add WWI Draft Registration in Webb County (misidentified as : "Robert Arthur Pickeno"). View Webb County Census: 1920 Precinct 1-District 168-Image 19 and 1930 Precinct 1-District 17-Image 2. Lots of kids and there are birth records for grandchildren in Webb. His wife was Alice McCarty daughter of Philip McCarty of MS and Mary Esther (nee: Doole) Hardie-McCarty (14 Jul 1846 - 9 Feb 1941). Robert and Alice probably married 1910-1912? Recommend you post in Val Verde County for obit: Alice D. Pickens, SSDI: 3 Jun 1885 - Jun 1980. She died in Del Rio and the birthdate and geography make her a "likely" widow of Robert Pickens?

I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. On 28 August 1894 Private HOOKER was reported missing and presumed drown in the Nueces River in LaSalle County. His body was recovered on 15 Sept 1894. He was born on 15 July 1869 in Hunt Texas. I am searching for his place of burial and whether he was married and had any children.

Although this county is named Kerr, I don't know of any descendants who actually lived here. It was named for Joshua Brown's friend and commander James Kerr.

Thank you so much!! I thought I had checked the Kerr Co GenWeb, but evidently I didn't do a very good job of it. I appreciate your help so much.
Maggie

According to the Kerr County TxGenWeb site, Gus Henry Hay died in 1962 and is also buried in Garden of Memories.

http://kerrco.vibobgen.com/KerrCemHarr-Heg.htm

I'm looking for a death date or burial for Augustus Henry Hay, b. 1878 in GA. He and his wife Ella Hare Hay were living in Kerr Co. possibly during the 1950-1960 time period. They were living with or near their daugher, Treasure Augusta Chambers, wife of Walter W. Chambers. Ella Hay died in 1961 and is buried in the Garden of Memories in Kerrville. Her death certificate says that she is married, so I'm guessing that Gus is still alive at that time.
I'd appreciate any information.
Margaret Mitchell
