I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. On 10 Jan 1879, Deputy US Marshal L.C. CROWELL died from small pox while performing his duties. He was sheriff of Kinney county from 1875-1878. He was from Maine and reportedly left a wife and children. The 1880 Census for Brackettville, Kinney, Texas, reported Bernard Kenst 44, wife Mary Kenst 56 and granddaughters Abby Crowell 3 and Alma Crowell 2. No mention of his wife. CROWELL is buried in the Ballantyne Family Cemetery in Brackettville, Kinney County. His tombstone reads as L.G. Crowell (Feb 1847-Jan 10, 1879). I am interested in any family members, his full name and any other family data.
