Morgan W. Carter was in the US Colored Troops during the Civil War. He survived the Civil War and returned to his hometown of Madison, Indiana. He is not listed anywhere locally after about 1870. He had a friend who had moved to Liberty, Texas, so we are thinking that he went there, too. He was born around 1844. His father was John Carter.
