hi Dennis...

I am hooked on him, what can I say...LOL. I just read Dee Harkey's sister's book and Dee's book...and I'm all tangled up in Richland Spring history because of other stories I'm working on.. seeing how everything ties together...and solving mysteries that most normal people don't even worry about. I just had a strong feeling Dave didn't get killed...I just paid ten bucks today for a one day pass to the Dallas News Archive to gain access to news articles and just found one article so far. I'm working this from every angle I can come up with and have found a few things but not a whole lot. I would love to share everything I have found. Send me your email address...mine is gingerandrews@gmail.com

I researched Dave Kemp extensively.
His sister did not shoot him. That was a malicious lie by Dee Harkey.
I'd like to trade my major magazine article "…despite big losses: The last shooting of the Old West" for copies of your information.
Where are you researching from? Why Dave Kemp??

Dennis McCown
PS: Some details on Kemp are to be found in my latest book The Goddess of War. Lopok for it on amazon.com

Looks like I am following in your footsteps, and wondering if you ever found out anything about Dave Kemp. I have found that he was married twice had a child by his first marriage that may have died as an infant...and that his son from his 2nd wife, Ada, was shot by Robert Lester Pounds who served time at Huntsville for the murder. There is a story floating around that the father, David Lole or Leon? Kemp was shot by his sister...but I haven't found any information whatsoever to support that. If anyone else has any bit of info, please let me know. I have 2 news articles telling about R L Pounds getting sentenced, and the death cert for the son, Leonidas Leon David Kemp. I have found nothing on the father except the grave.
Looking for any information on these families. Laura Ann Pinckard married Joseph Biston Ives and many of the families are 'residing' in Fairmont Cemetery. The Pinckard family lived in Coryell County, TX. James Marion Pinckard (Augusta Marion and Fannie Pinckard)married Mamie Crowder in Purcell, Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in 1901. Jim & Mamie had 2 daughters and 1 son. One daughter Esther married Hugh Ery Wilmot in Boise, Idaho. Russ Wilmot is one of their sons. We have been trying to contact these families for some time.

Slightly confused? Your grandfather was a brother of Elmer? Elmer married Bessie Slough therefore he (Elmer) was son inlaw of Henry Scott Slough. There was no kinship between Elmer and George Leonard Slough. Henry and George were the ONLY Slough-brothers that relocated to Texas. The third brother, Ritter aka Irvin, remained in Missouri. Loy Slough was Bessie's oldest brother (children of Henry Scott Slough). George Leonard Slough never married thus no direct descendants. I'm not related simply trying to uncover details.

My grandfather was a brother of your uncles. They all were born in Kansas, not far from where I live. My grandfather - the youngest of 11 - was the last of that generation to pass away, so I asked my father what he remembers.

He says it was Elmer that married Bessie (Slough), though he never knew her maiden name. And Harvey Teetzen lived there for a time w/ his wife, Olga. Harvey and Olga moved often, mostly where other family were.

Harvey, after his wife passed away, moved to Nevada to stay w/ my grandfather. And they both passed away not to many years after.

Specifically regarding Elmer and Bessie, my dad remembers their son - Elmer Dean (aka Punky) - but doesn't recall if they had any other children. Last we knew, Elmer Dean lived near Chicago, though I believe he might still own the family farm here in Kansas.

Hope some of this information helps.
Robert Searcy is the son of Lester Clay Searcy & Fannie Norris. Fannie is a sister to Frederick Norris. Fannie & Lester were divorced & she married Dr. William Markley. They lived in Follett Tx. Do you know anything about William Norris, brother to Frederick & Fannie? William was married to Ilah Royster & they had two daughters.I don't know if William & Ilah were divorced or if he died but Ilah married Lester Searcy & they moved to California. This would have happened after 1920. Maudie Norris a daughter of William & Ilah is the one I have researched for a friend of mine who is the son of Maudie. Theirs is quite a story. I have a lot of info on the Norris family & am willing to share what I have. I would be interested in any info about William Norris. The last record I have on him is a 1920 census record in Delaware Co. Oklahoma. Madeline the other daughter of William married my husbands Uncle. They were divorced in 1931 & she disappeared. Hope this is not too confusing. Mary

Is anyone willing to look-up the obituary for Ruby Hazel ? nee Burke who died at her home at Follett, Lipscomb, Texas on January 25, 1929. She left behind her husband, baby, and father Richard Lane Burke (who passed away in Follette in 1943) and her mother Sarah Caroline Burke nee Cox (who passed away in Follette in 1936). I would really appreciate this as I do not have her married name.

I am hoping to connect with any family that might be remaining there. I live in Missouri where Leonard and Rebecca (Loy) Slough (The parents of Loy, Henry, George, Bessie) lived most of their life and are buried at.
