When you post, it is important to fully identify the person you seek. The persons date of birth is always important. Their maiden name is needed to seek family trees for women, as that name is where they would be found. Sometimes family trees show where a person actually died. If, as noted here, you don't know the maiden name, her husbands name, childrens, siblings. SOMETHING to help identify the person so they could be researched in earlier census.

The Social Security Death Index:
Stella Wright, born 9 Oct 1894, died Jan 1979, "last residence:" Mason, Mason County, TX.
--The "last residence" on the SSDI is NOT necessarily where a person actually lived or died. The Social Security Administration calls it simply the "home of record," and possibly the address where correspondence by the SSA was sent. It is not necessarily where any benefit was paid to the person, survivor, or the lumpsum death benefit (in years past, it was paid to anyone paying burial expenses, family member, funeral home, city/county, attorney; today, a living spouse). It is sometimes the location where the notification of death was sent to the SSA, sometimes where the lump sum death benefit was sent.

The Texas Death Index:
Stella Wright, died 27 Jan 1979 in Kerr COunty.
Where a person died is NOT necessarily where they lived.
---HER DEATH CERTIFICATE WOULD NOT BE IN MASON COUNTY...

An obituary is also NOT published necessarily where they had lived, or where they had died. She was 84 (approx), MANY of that age do not have obituaries published.

IF you desire to order a death certificate, which I mostly do not recommend as the funds expended often do not have the information desired:
http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/reqproc/deathcert.shtm

NOW, she is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, her maiden name was McGill, the DOB and DOD match.
http://www.fbgtxgensoc.org/cem/w_surname.html
This is in Gillespie County, TX

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA
Hi,

IF you're still looking for this info, there isn't a genealogical society in Mason Co. You can contact the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, http://bcls.tsl.state.tx.us/mason and ask if they make copies of obituaries or if they know who does.

Hopefully where she was buried and who her parents were will be in the obituary. If not, sometimes where a person is buried is on their death certificate. You can contact the Mason County Clerk for a copy of the death certificate.

If where she was buried is not in her obituary, do a Google search for Mason County Texas Cemeteries and several choices will appear of indexed and non-indexed cemeteries. Successful Searching!

Hello Jerry. My birth name is Hollie Christine Tuckness. My parents are Michael Clark Tuckness Sr and Diana Lynn Reisinger-Tuckness. My paternal grandparents are Clarence Orville Tuckness and Ethalyn Gilberta Clark-Tuckness. I grew up in Baldwin Park, Ca. I have heard on a few occasions about the Tuckness family that resided in Azusa, Ca. Thats you right? Woodrow, "Red"(thats what my father called her)and a brother Travis? Do you remember the Boyers from across the street,Chuck(Charles),Dorthy(Dottie),Al,Doreen,Denise,Frank,Darlene,Dana and John? Well I ended up married to John Boyer and have three children with him. Small world huh, and one day we had a visitor come over, a friend of Johns. His name was Travis. We were talking and somehow his last name came up and I said to him, "hold on a minute, your a Tuckness from Azusa? We are related then, cousin Trav! Well its been years since I last saw Travis and if my memory is right, I dont think your mother was doing to good at that time. How is she and I gotta ask,how is Travis? Im no longer with John Boyer, we have seperated and I now live in Fullerton. I hope to hear from you sometime and we could share information with one another. Im not familiar with the Tuckness family, grandma left Grandpa when my father was about 12years old.My email is HollieHernandez@live.com or call me at (714) 441-1334.
Your cousin, Hollie

I have an extensive genealogy with many of Mason County's early settlers. I did find one family with last name of Land in my records.

William Madison Land married to Ada Alice King on 6-7-1909. He was born 3-1-1887 in Freestone County, Texas and died 6-24-1950 in Mason, Texas, buried in Gooch Cemetery. Ada Alice King was born 1-8-1890 in Mason, Texas and died 8-24-1968 in Mason, Texas, buried in Gooch Cemetery. They had three children: Benellen (12-30-1909), Gertie Marie (3-23-1912), Thelma Gayle (11-23-1914 to 1-7-1997 in Menard County, Texas).

I hope there is a connection with this family. I am connected to the King family that married into the Land family.

Make yourself a terrific day!!!

Donna M Simon from Keller, Texas

donna@texassimons.com
I am related to the McGehee family that lived in Montgomery County, TN in the early 1800s. My ggggrandmother was Mary McGehee. Supposedly she was born in N. Carolina about 1790 and then her family moved to Tennessee. She married Jesse Pearce about 1809 in Montgomery County, TN. The Pearces then moved to Illinois about 1817 complete with 8 children. Mary died in Illinois.

Her father was either Thomas or William McGehee. I am trying to find out who her family is. There was a William McGehee who fought in the War of 1812 from Tennessee. Do you have any knowledge of such a McGehee family?

Jim Pearce

Hoping to find a kind person who will do a courthouse look-up for a fellow genealogy volunteer ....

I am seeking a birth record (perhaps filed as a delayed birth record, not sure) for birth name of Austin Leslie Coursey b. Oct. 13, 1913. Parents are Amos R. Coursey & Lillian Mary Leslie. (Leslie Family lived in Mason Co & Coursey's lived in Llano Co)

His DC (death certificate) only states "Texas" as place of birth. He was born in either Uvalde Co (as family story says) or in Mason Co, or Llano Co, but so far we cannot or have not, located it.

It is only the birth record I am interested in, that and if anyone finds a divorce for same couple, as it also has not been found. Amos & Lillian were divorced between 1917 & 1920 either in Uvalde Co, Mason Co, Llano Co, or Harris Co, but again cannot, or have not, located it.

Thanks in advance for anything any one can pull up!
