My grandmother passed away in Cross Texas at a Ranch we believe it was either the Franklin Ranch House or the Henry Ranch house. My grandfather worked for both the Franklins and Henrys at different points. His name was Mercedes "Merce" Martinez (son of Gabriel Martinez who also worked for the families). His wife died in childbirth in his employer's home both she and the baby passed. She was buried next to her father Nicasio Herrera in San Miguel Cemetery in unmarked graves. My mother remembers that she visited the graves with Merce about 40 years ago, at that time, only Nicasio's grave was sunken; now I found a couple of sunken unmarked graves today and wonder if anyone can validate that it is theirs. My family never placed headstones and I would like to if I can verify the graves. As soon as you walk in the cemetery, to the left, there are two sunken graves side by side. To the left of these graves is another grave with a footstone (no headstone) that says "Magoo or Mancoo". If anyone can remember my family or the story of my grandmothers death that may have attended the funeral, any information would be greatly appreciated. She and her baby died in 1942. Her name was Juanita (Herrera) Martinez.
