Baker, Fay Nell

Fay Baker

Fay Nell Baker went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2006.

She fought a valiant fight for over six months. Her courage and grace under constant pain and suffering will long be remembered. Her quick wit and loving nature will be missed as well.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Golda Ordean Kersey; brother, Roger David Simpson; father, Roger Compton Simpson and her first born son, Brent Wayne Weaver.

Fay leaves behind her loving and supportive husband, Jr. Baker; son, Paul Bryan Weaver; daughter, LaShawnda Thompson and husband Mark and family; and her pride and joy, grandson, Catlin Tate, all of Midland..

The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Sunday, November 19, 2006 between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 20, 2006 at Calvary Assembly of God.

Pallbearers will be Trent Thompson, Cody Thompson, Raul Dominguez, Mike Black, Kenneth Machacek, Brandon McMorris and Gary Marriott.

Honorary pallbearer will be Catlin Tate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 21, 2006 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. at Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Graveside services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the County Line Cemetery in Pickens, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Tony Price, James Price, Mark Steven Price, Olen Price, Mike Price, Derrick Baker and Kevin Jefferson.

Branch, Jimmie Evelyn Jones

Jimmie Evelyn Jones Branch

Jimmie, affectionately known as "J.J." by her family and friends, died in her sleep Monday, November 13, 2006. She was 75.

Born March 31, 1931 in Greenville, Texas, "J.J." was the only child of Jimmie and Katherine Jones. After high school graduation, she attended East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce, Texas where she received a Bachelor's Degree. After college, she worked as an Executive Secretary for Atlantic Richfield until her retirement. "J.J." and her husband, "Tip", were members of First Christian Church of Midland.

"J.J." is survived by her husband of 26 years, Daniel Tipton "Tip" Branch of Midland, TX; three step-children, Gayle Hester of New Braunfels, TX; Twig Branch of Fort Worth, TX; and Vicki Boatman of Nacogdoches, TX; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Park with clergy of First Christian Church officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. To place on-line condolences visit www.mem.com.

Goodman, George

George Goodman

George Goodman was born in Sweetwater, Texas, June 5, 1928, to Josephine and Vernon Goodman. He went to be with his heavenly father on Nov. 10, 2006.

George was the fourth child of eight siblings. He was in the Navy from 1926 to 1928. He moved to Midland in 1953.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother and two sisters.

He is survived by a son George E. Goodman Jr., a step-daughter , Erna Woodberry, a brother Lee Goodman, two sisters, Estell Brown, and Urna Goodman, three grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, and good friends, Ronnie and Charlene Brown.

Gross, Lonnie

Services for Lonnie Gross, 76, of Andrews will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Kevin Covington officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

He died Friday, Nov. 17, at Home Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born Feb. 6, 1930 in Holiday, to Bumon Johnson Gross and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves and married Cherry Lee Johnson December 9, 1950. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He owned and operated Gross Garage in Andrews for 52 years. He was a founding member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son: Gary Lee Gross in 1972; his parents; and five brothers.

He is survived by his wife: Cherry Gross of Andrews; one son: Rusty Gross of Andrews; one daughter: Robbie Hale of Andrews; one brother: James B. Gross of Andrews; one sister: Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hoenehs, Ella Faye

CRANE -- Ella Faye Hoenehs, 98 of Crane, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, in the Crane Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in the Crane County Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Thyrion officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

Ella was born October 21, 1908 in Stonewall County. She was a retired sales assistant for T&P Clothiers , and she was a Methodist.

She is survived by one sister, Eva Hagle of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kerr, Robert

PECOS -- Bobby Kerr passed away at home, Friday, Nov. 17 from cancer.

He was born in Eldorado, April 11, 1935. He joined the Navy from 1954-1958 and was a gunners mate 3rd class aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex. He married Barbara Sullivan Duncan in 1969. He was a Christian and also an Elks member.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, sons, Allen and Jeff Duncan, daughter, Melody Stokes, four sisters, one brother, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Pecos Funeral Home, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 19. Graveside services will be at Mount Evergreen Cemetery, 10 A.M. Monday, November 20. Graveside services donations may be made to Pecos Hospice or Pecos Museum or Pecos Senior Center or your favorite charity .

Pillows, Arnold E.

Arnold E. Pillows, of Midland, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006.

Born June 23, 1935 in Apple Springs, Texas to John Thomas Pillows and Cleo Mae Long Pillows, Arnold was raised and educated in Groveton, Texas. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as an airplane electrician. A pipeliner for many years, Arnold also wored for his brother Burl Pillows as an oilfield transporter in Midkiff, Texas before retiring in Midland. He was in the process of selling his home to travel and visit family and friends at the time of his death. A member of the Mason's for 38 years, Arnold was also a member of the American Legion.

Arnold loved his grandchildren, football games and telling jokes and stories. He was loved by many friends and family and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Pete Pillows, nephew, Tony Pillows, and his lifelong best friend and sweetheart, Dixie.

Arnold is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Donald Lowder of Murchison, TX; Cheryle and J.R. Christopher of Possum Kingdom Lake, TX; daughter, Donna Miller of Midland, TX; brothers, Burl Pillows of Brownwood, TX; Gandy Pillows and wife, Lee, of Houston, TX; Clifford Pillows and wife, Nancy, of Spring, TX; grandson, Brandon Lowder of Brownsboro, TX; grandson/son, Auby Miller of Midland, TX; granddaughter, Misty Lowder of Murchison, TX; nieces, Bonnie Runia and husband of Arlington, TX; Gina Klein and husband, Jeff, of Sugarland, TX; nephew, Michael Pillows and wife, Sonja, of Spring, TX. Also surviving is the mother of his three daughters, Shirley Pillows, and other nieces and nephews.

Price, Sterling Woodrow

Sterling Woodrow Price

Sterling Woodrow Price, 78, of Palestine died Saturday in a Tyler hospital.

He was born October 19, 1928 in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Mr. Price was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, and a retired oilfield businessman. Mr. Price was also a volunteer driver for the V.A., a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and co-treasurer of St. Philip's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathryn K. Price of Palestine; three daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in St. Philip's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Sam Boyd officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice, or St. Philip's building fund Columbarium. Local arrangements by Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Haynes, Lesiah Renee

Lesiah Renee Haynes of Midland, TX. passed away on November 17, 2006. She was born September 23, 1963 in Hearen, TX. to Isiah Jr. and Nancy Carden.

She is survived by her three children; Dedrick Carden, Shrieka Carden and Harry Haynes, Jr., seven grandchildren; Taj Carden, Jordyn Carden, D'Cambrion White, D'Marion White, Javien Patterson, A'rya Haynes and Daniel Lee Hynes.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 201 S. Carver, Midland, TX. Rev. O.J. Archie will be officiating services. Pallbearers; Sulton Bradley, Shantwan Franklin, Anthony Carden, James Griffin Jr., Randy Carden, Preston White. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery 6800 S. Hwy 349. Linneman, Louis

Louis (Lou) Linneman, 79, of Odessa passed away Friday, November 17, 2006, at his home in Odessa. He was born in Tamo, AR., near Pine Bluff on April 30, 1927. He spent his early life in Pine Bluff on the family farm until the age of 17 when he joined the U. S. Navy and served in World War II. While in the Navy, he received his medical laboratory training. After the Navy, he furthered his education at Arkansas State Teachers College at Conway. In early 1953, he moved to Odessa to work for pediatric allergist, Louis Zang, M.D. On June 4, 1954, in Grady, AR., he married Louise Harvey who preceded him in death in March of 1996.

He managed the Blood Bank at Medical Center Hospital for several years. He opened Lou's Clinical Lab in 1966 in the Medical Arts Clinic at 4th and Alleghaney in Odessa. Lou provided laboratory services for many local physicians and provided allergy and flu shots to the community for many years. He was a registered Medical Technologist with the Registry of American Medical Technologist and received a distinguished achievement award from A.M.T. in 1978. Lou was awarded Technologist of the Year in 1986 by the Texas State Society of A.M.T. In 1993, Drug Screen Compliance was added to Lou's Clinical Lab and became a Texas corporation. Lou opened additional Drug Screen Compliance offices in Midland, Big Spring, San Angelo, Lubbock, and Hobbs, NM. This created the largest drug screen collection service in West Texas and Southern New Mexico and continued Lou's commitment of personal customer service. The corporation is still managed by his two sons and daughter.

Lou was a Master Mason, served as a board member of the American Medical Technologist Association (state and national), a deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, and a founding board member of Medical Center Credit Union, now known as First Basin Credit Union.

Survivors include his daughter, Carol Spaulding and husband, Tom of Tyler, TX; son, Stephen Linneman of Odessa, Len Martin of Weatherford, TX; son, Brad Linneman and wife, Misti; niece, Liz Cates of Odessa; sister, Barbara McCuiston and husband, Jim of Granbury, TX; grandchildren, Nicole Spaulding of Edinburgh, Scotland; Andrew Spaulding of New Orleans, LA; Ryan Spaulding and Sarah Spaulding of Tyler, TX; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Alexandra, and Amelia Blunt of Edinburgh, Scotland.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2006. The family wants to acknowledge special thanks and gratitude to good friend and caregiver, Betty Jo Kirkpatrick, caregiver, Josie Flores, Home Hospice of Odessa, and nurse Debbie Harris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to American Heart Association, First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, Home Hospice, Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center, and/or the Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin.

Manley, Sissy

Sissy Manley, 51, of Midland, TX passed away on November 16, 2006 from a brain aneurism. She was a graduate of Midland High School and attended Midland College. She was the president of Manley Metal Buildings and Manley Crane and Rigging. She volunteered with Crisis Intervention at the Midland County Sheriff's Office. Sissy was an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast. She had a great love and admiration for the Patrol Division of the Midland County Sheriff's Department.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruby Offield.

Sissy is survived by her husband Don Manley of 30 years and son Robert Manley and his wife Erica and their son Jayden of San Angelo; son Brandon (Bear) Manley of Midland and daughter Codi Oertel and her husband Jim and daughters Kelsay, Kayla, and Kensi of Houston. She is also survived by her father C.D. Offield of Midland and brothers Perry Offield and Lynn Offield of Midland and several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Crestview Baptist Church, 3300 Thomas in Midland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sheriff Gary Painter and the Midland County Sheriff's Office.

Palmer, Eileen

Eileen Marie Pflug Palmer, formally of Midland, residing in Austin, TX, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006. She was born March 20, 1920, in Papillion to Walter & Alma Pflug. Eileen attended school in Papillion, Nebraska and graduated high school in Borger, TX. She was employed by the State Department of Public Welfare in Borger and Abilene, TX. , The Atlantic Refining Company and Palmer Pipe & Supply in Midland, TX. Eileen moved to Austin, TX in March of 2004. She loved crossword puzzles and the Chicago Cubs. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Palmer and brother Loren (Bud) Pflug.

Eileen is survived by daughter, Karen Palmer, of Austin, TX; son and daughter in-law Robert and Peggy Palmer; brothers Jack Pflug, Aumsville, OR, Richard Pflug, Gun Barrel City, TX, and Jerry Pflug, Dumas, TX; sister Doris Sheets, Farmington, NM, six grandchildren and ten great -grandchildren.

Perry, H. Max

H. Max Perry, of Midland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18.

He was born March 31, 1919 to Grover Cleveland and Ethelyn Lucile Roach Perry in Keller.

Max served his country from 1942-1946 in the U.S. Army in WWII as a warrant officer, serving in England and Europe. He was reared and educated in Walters, OK. and Terry Co. He married Wanda Rae Linam October 15, 1968 in Midland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.

Max is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Perry; three nephews and two nieces, eight great- nieces and nephews and ten great -great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, today, Nov. 20, from 5 -7 p.m.

Services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Briseno, Cruz Olivas

Cruz Olivas Briseno, 94, died Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit.

She was born May 5, 1912 in San Jose, Texas to the late Francisco and Gomesinda Bejarano. She was raised in Marfa.

She later met and married Jose Braulio Olivas in 1946. After his death she later married Victor Briseno in 1980.

She was a member of Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church.

She is survived by her four daughters, Maria Garcia, Juliana "Julie" Olivas Paustian, Josefina Sandoval and Martina Olivas all of Midland; two step-daughters, Faye Jimenez and Elidia Jimenez also of Midland; six grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

Services will be held today, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Jackson, George R.

George R. "Son" Jackson, of Midkiff, Texas passed away Monday, November 20, 2006.

He was born July 23, 1926 to Roy M. and Vina Autry Jackson in Hereford, Texas. The family moved to a ranch in Irion County soon afterward. Son attended schools in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1943. With his parents written consent, he immediately entered the V-12 Navy program to train as a pilot. Son attended UT Arlington, Great Lakes Naval Center, and was stationed for a short time in San Francisco before being honorably discharged as an Ensign. He continued his college education at San Angelo College, and then transferred to Sul Ross State University where he graduated. While in school, he played basketball.

Son married Maydelle Midkiff on December 31, 1950. He ranched in Sutton County for 3 years before moving to Midland County to continue ranching. He earned his pilots license in 1957, and flew private planes for many years. He had a high interest in the Piper Super Cub, and held the first aerial permit for the State of Texas for hunting coyotes, bobcats and red fox. He enjoyed hunting and watching all sports, but fly-fishing in Alaska with his brother-in-law was a favorite pastime for many years.

Son is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maydelle Jackson of Midland, TX; three children, Sue Vinson and her husband, Duwain of Midkiff, TX; Lynn Decker and her husband, Bert, of San Angelo, TX; and Hugh Jackson and his wife, Mary, of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Laree Vinson Walker, Philip Vinson, Wade Hall, Clint Hall, Ashley Hall, Lauren Jackson, Kyle Jackson, and Erin Jackson; and one great-grandchild, Calob Walker.

Memorial services are to be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Morris, Wanda C.

Wanda C. Morris of Midland, died Nov. 18 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 19, 1921, in Avery, Texas. She married Frank Morris on Dec. 4, 1943.

She is survived by her husband Frank; one daughter, Cathy Rawls of Hurst and one son, Mike Morris of Waco. Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 21, at Bob Davis Funeral Chapel with interment at Shannon Rose Hill in Fort Worth.

Perry, H. Max

H. Max Perry, of Midland, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006.

He was born March 31, 1919 to Grover Cleveland and Ethelyn Lucile Roach Perry in Keller, Texas. Prior to his ownership of Tall City Vending, he was employed by Bordens. Max was a life member of Midland Optimist Club, a 60 year member of Masonic Lodge - Tannehill Lodge No. 52 AF & AM, a member of Friends of Midland Co. Library, Midland Arts Association, Texas Watercolor Association and Sons of The American Revolution.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.

Max is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Perry; nieces Fredda Cook and husband Weldon, and Connie Ochs and husband Keven; nephews John Cox and wife Mary Margaret, Larry Perry and wife Rhonda, Paul Perry and wife Debbie; eight great nieces and nephews and ten great - great nieces and nephews.

Whitaker, Robert R.

Robert R. Whitaker, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 19, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 6, 1937 in Lubbock County to the late Homer and Ottie Whitaker.

He was raised and educated in Seminole, Ralls and Midland.

He later entered the Air Force and served in Maine and San Antonio.

He met and married Deanna "Peachie" Swails Oct. 7, 1956.

He worked for the Midland Reporter Telegram for 13 years and later became a Geological draftsman and worked with El Paso Natural Gas. He retired from Burlington Resources in 1996.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ottie Whitaker and one brother, Terry Gordon Booth.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna "Peachie" Whitaker of Midland; two sons, Terry Pittman of Waco, and Kane Whitaker of Stanton; one daughter, Kellie Pittman of Tyler; one sister, Georgia W. Kubik of Tyler; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Family will be receiving friends Today, Nov. 21, from 6-7 p.m. at Pipkin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Pipkin Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Wood, Richard D.

Richard Dale Wood, of Midland, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006.

He was born February 4, 1944 to Robert S. Wood and Alma Louise Dale Wood in El Paso, Texas. A graduate of Ysleta High School, Rick also graduated from Sul Ross University. While attending Sul Ross he met Karyn Newby. The couple was married July 23, 1966. Rick was a coach in El Paso, and also worked with the YMCA in Midland, El Paso, San Angelo, and Hereford, Texas. He was also the Manager of the Chamber of Commerce in Fort Stockton. He went into media sales in 1985 at KMID TV 2 until 1992 when he joined KWES TV 9.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Samuel Wood, Jr., and sister, Peggy Louise Bradley.

Rick is survived by his wife Karyn Wood of Midland, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Jeff Dunn of O'Donnell, TX; Leah and Shane Steward of The Woodlands, TX; Lei-Lani and Darren Watkins of Burleson, TX; and Lisa and Jared Green of Crowley, TX; grandchildren, Meagan Dunn, Chance Steward, Caylee Steward, Ainslee Dunn, Raylee Watkins, Emma Lee Dunn, and Watkins twin boys on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Greenwood Baptist Church with Reverend Wayman Swopes officiating. Crenshaw, James G.

BIG SPRING -- James G. Crenshaw, 82, of Big Spring died Sunday, Nov. 19, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born May 28, 1924, in Rusk, to Pearl and Eric Gordon Crenshaw. He married Betty Faubion, Jan. 3, 1946, in Houston. She preceded him in death Dec. 25, 1999. He was a veteran of the Air Force, having served in World War II.

He is survived by three sons, James Gaylord Crenshaw and Robert Crenshaw both of Big Spring; and Dale Crenshaw of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Spurgers of Rusk; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Mike Crenshaw.

Alpha Ray Jones, 57, died at his home Sunday, Nov. 19. Services are set for 10 a.m. today, Nov. 22, at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 29, 1949 in Clayton, NM, to Elbert Lee and Ila May Jones. He was reared and educated in McCamey where he was a 1968 graduate.

Jones, Manuel

With deep sorrow, we bid farewell to Manuel Jones of Midland. He was born in Stoneham, Texas, on September 6, 1927 and departed this life Sunday, November 19, 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Savannah Georgia McKensie Jones, two brothers, Nathaniel (twin brother) and Mose Columbus Jones, two sisters, Lucinda Jones McDowell and Elvira Jones Davis.

During his formative years growing up in Stoneham and Hearne, Manuel united with Stonehamville United Methodist Church. After completing school, he moved to Baytown, Texas where he worked in the construction industry. During World War II, he volunteered for military service in the Army serving in Japan with an Occupation Unit. Shortly after discharge in 1949, he moved to Midland where he met and married, Beatrice Thompson in 1955. To their union four daughters were born.

During his early years in Midland, Manuel was employed by St. Mark's United Methodist Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church. In 1968, he joined Continental Airlines as a Service Agent at Midland International Airport. He later transferred to Denver Stapleton International Airport where he remained until his retirement in 1995 marking 27 years of dedicated service to the airline industry.

Manuel united with Antioch Baptist Church in 1985 where he served as a Church Trustee, Treasurer of the Brotherhood and part-time Janitor. He also sang in the Antioch Men's Choir and was a member of the Midland Southeast Community Senior Center where he served on the Advisory Board.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Beatrice, devoted wife of 51 years, four loving daughters and two sons-in-law, Marcia and Bill Cleaver of Odessa, Reta and Charles Mason, Marian Jones Allen and Mechelle C. Jones of Midland; six grandsons, Torrence, and Ashland Mason; Jacobi, Jovanni, Chaisley and Evan Cleaver; two granddaughters, Territa M. Brandy and Danedra L. Champagne Allen; elder sister, Maggie Harris of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law and wife, Willie and Betty Burton of Aurora, Colorado and a host of paternal/maternal family and friends.

Piper, Pearlie Mae

Pearlie Mae Piper, 79, died Monday, Nov. 20, in Fort Worth.

She was born June 29, 1927 in Lot, to the late Haywood O'Neal and the late Carrie Scruggs

She was raised and educated in Marlin.

She met and married Lawrence W. Piper on July 27, 1946.

She was a member of the Mount Rose Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Friendly Ladies Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Piper of Arlington; two grandsons; three brothers, George O'Neal of North Carolina, Haywood O'Neal and Sherman O'Neal of Midland; numerous nephews and nieces.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. at Mount Rose Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Whitacre, Edna Pearl

ODESSA -- Edna Pearl Whitacre, age 78, died Sunday, Nov. 19. She was born Oct. 14, 1928 in Seminole, Okla. She was born to William Forrest and Edith Idessa Hammon. She married Authur Edwin Whitacre Sept. 11, 1957. She had been a life long resident of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years; a son, Don G. Lynn; a daughter, Glenda Ray Bickerstaff and six of her siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Billie Lou Foster; son, Charley Whitacre; son, Chainey Whitacre, all of Odessa; one brother, Lloyd Hammon of Big Spring; five sisters, Shirley Shults, Norma Denton, both of Odessa, Erma Hammon of Longview, Lanell Akin of Ashdown Ark., and Toby Shaw of Carmel, Calif. seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for today, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at Odessa Gospel Lighthouse (east loop 338) with Eddie Humphries and Johnny Touchtone officiating. Burial will follow at the Ector County Cemetery.

Whitaker, Robert R.

Robert R. Whitaker went home to be with the Lord on Sunday November 19, 2006 after passing away at Midland Memorial Hospital of a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 6, 1937 in Lubbock County on his aunt's farm, to the late Homer and Ottie Whitaker.

Robert was raised and educated in Seminole, Ralls and Midland. He later entered the Air Force and served in Maine and San Antonio. He met Deanna "Peachie" Swails and married on October 7, 1956. He worked for the Midland Reporter Telegram for 13 years and later became a Geological draftsman and worked with El Paso Natural Gas. He retired from Burlington Resources in 1996.

Robert enjoyed working with his hands crafting and building projects and a lover of art glass crafting. He also enjoyed his animals. He loved his family and also cared for his mother and mother-in-law at a time of need. Robert was a great family man with a great sense of humor and quick wit.

The legacy of a man who leaves behind the cherished memories of the love of his life, "Peachie", and three wonderful children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Robert accepted Christ as a young man which became a very important part of his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory is his loving wife of fifty years: Deanna "Peachie" Whitaker of Midland; two sons: Terry M. and wife Janis Whitaker of Waco, TX and Kane and wife Rena Whitaker of Stanton, TX; one daughter: Kellie L. and Randy Pittman of Tyler, TX; one sister: Georgia W. Kubiak of Tyler, TX; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ottie Whitaker and one brother, Terry Gordon Booth.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Pipkin Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Child of God, beloved wife and mother, Pherbia Leona Wilkerson, 87, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, November 21, 2006 following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 10, 1919 at Sheep Creek Community near Ada, Oklahoma to Oliver M. and Mary Ellen Hill. She was a charter member of the Baptist Church in Farris, Oklahoma, and a member of South Memorial Baptist Church in Midland.

Pherbia is survived by her husband, D. E. Wilkerson of Midland, TX; two sons, Ronnie Wilkerson of Lindale, TX; and Donald Wilkerson of Midland, TX; two daughters, Brenda Jackson of Lytton Springs, TX; and Diana Donnell of Wimberley, TX; two sisters, Marie Harper of Farris, OK; and Dorothy O'Quinn of Lufkin, TX; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 24, 2006 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Pinkham, Duane

MILES CITY, Mont. -- Duane Pinkham, 73, of Glendive, Mont. died Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Glendive VA Medical Center in Glendive.

He was born in Haynes, N.D. on June 11, 1933, the son of Ray and Leona Niehs Pinkham. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Marian Wacker McKiernan on Sept. 7, 1957.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a son, Rod Pinkham of Las Vegas; two daughters, Doreen Richardson of Midland and Pam Griffin of Ismay, Mont.; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Services will be held today, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City, Mont. Interment will follow at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors provided by post #1579. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

Arnold, Jayde Layne

Jayde Layne Arnold, of Midland, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 24, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 26, 1972 in Fort Worth, Texas, Jayde was raised and educated in Midland, Texas. A 1991 graduate of Lee High School, he attended Texas State Technical College in Waco and Sweetwater with specialization in automotive technologies. Jayde enjoyed snow skiing, automotive work, quail hunting, and spending time with his children, family and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland. Jayde will be remembered for having such a loving heart.

He was preceded in death by a son, Cortlyn Jayde Arnold, grandparents, Joe and Wilma Arnold, and grandmother, Earline Rogers.

Jayde is survived by his daughters, Charmynee and Ariel Arnold, both of Tarzan, TX; and Hailey Arnold of Midland, TX; mother, Suzy Arnold of Midland, TX; father, Jim Arnold of Lubbock, TX; grandfather, Hap Rogers of Tulia, TX; sisters, Jai Ja Arnold-White of Midland, TX; Shai McMorries and her husband, Vance, of Tarzan, TX; nieces, Jesika White of Midland, TX; and Kinley McMorries of Tarzan, TX.

Bennett, William C. "Bill"

Sherry Lynn Butler, of Midland, passed away Friday, November 24, 2006.

She was born February 16, 1945 to Thomas Leon Tyson and Margaret Marie Stephens Tyson in Fort Worth, Texas. A 1963 graduate of Midland High School, Sherry had worked with First National Bank from 1968 until 1973 when she joined the staff at Commercial Bank working there until 1978.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Wayne Butler, and her daughter, Sarah Butler, both of Midland, TX. Also surviving are her beloved pets, Prissy and Shorty.

Sherry's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. John and Sabiha Worrell, and Dr. Robert Vogel. Also special thanks to the staff of Midland Memorial Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital.

Hammond, Ralph E.

Ralph E. Hammond, of Midland, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 23, 2006. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated with honors from The University of Minnesota with both a bachelors and masters degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Carter Oil Company as district engineer in St. Elmo, Illinois before being promoted to division production manager in Mattoon, Illinois. Carter Oil Company merged with Humble which later became EXXON. Ralph was named Central Division Production Manager for EXXON in Tulsa and later Oklahoma City prior to moving to Midland as operations manager. After retiring from EXXON he became a petroleum consultant and independent oil operator until shortly before his death. Ralph was a long time member of the API and SPE, and had been active in the Oklahoma Petroleum Council and the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. He was a member of the Petroleum Club and the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Mary; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dr. Peter Clark of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Debbie and Mark Bartelsmeyer of Houston, TX; two grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. John Clark and Kelly of Hattiesburg, MS; and Julie and Roger Thomas of Tuscaloosa, AL; also five great-grandchildren.

He was a loving husband and father and will be long remembered as a gentleman who exhibited kindness to all. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Gregory Bartha, nurse Christine Bebeebe, caregiver, Yolanda Jimenez, and the many wonderful people from Hospice.

A Midlander for 58 years, Monette Sewell Hicks died on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 after a lengthy illness.

Monette was born on October 21, 1916 in Wichita Falls to Davis B. and Eva M. Sewell. She married Paul Hicks on December 26, 1936. They lived in Wichita Falls and moved to Midland in 1948. In boom time, post-war Midland, they opened the Craver-Hicks Janitor Supply Co. which later became the Paul Hicks Co. She was preceded in death by her husband.

As a life-long Methodist, Monette was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls and First United Methodist Church of Midland where she was a member of the Boone Bible Sunday School Class. She was a dedicated member of the Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she logged countless hours of service. Monette enjoyed her weekly golf game with her friends and her membership in the Ranchland Hills Ladies Golf Association. She also actively supported the various PTA's while her children were in school.

An avid sports fan her entire life, Monette amazed her grandchildren with her set shot and the tight spiral she could throw well into her 80's. Her competitive spirit was demonstrated almost daily as she usually won the family battle for the sports page. A great fan of Arnold Palmer, the Dodgers and the Longhorns, her grandchildren often remarked that no one else had a MiMi who watched every football game on TV.

Monette is survived by daughter Gloria Lambert and husband LaDoyce of Odessa, son Jim Hicks and wife Linda of Midland, daughter Jann Bash and husband Vincent of Midland, sister, Nancille Willis of Austin, and grandchildren, Amy Lambert, Katherine Bash, David Bash, Sarah Hicks and Robert Hicks. She is also survived by her two nieces, Carol Reynolds of Austin and Lynette Weisheit of Dallas.

Monette's family wishes to thank the dedicated and wonderful caregivers of the Red Rose Christian Home who took such loving care of their mother and grandmother, day in and day out for over five years as her health declined. Thanks also go out to Home Hospice for their care of Monette in her final days.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 27, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Park, following which the family will receive friends in the Parlor at First United Methodist Church between 11:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. Revering, Nancy Snyder

Nancy Snyder Revering passed away in Christopher House in Austin, Texas, on Friday, November 17, 2006. She was born in Ashland, Kentucky, May 29, 1963. Nancy moved to Midland, Texas with her family in July of 1970 and graduated from Lee High School in 1981. She attended the University of Texas in Austin where she received her Bachelor's Degree in 1985. Nancy remained in Austin after graduation and began her working career with National Instruments. She then made a change to doing contract work for IBM Corporation. After leaving IBM due to downsizing, she went to work for Encore Industries where she became an Associate Director and remained with that company until her death.

A memorial service was held in her honor at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel on Monday, November 20, 2006.

Nancy is survived by her parents, Sandy and Larry Snyder of Midland, her children, Sarah and Ryan Revering of Cedar Park, Texas; her sisters, Sharon Snyder of St. Louis, Missouri, Laura Mayes and her husband Steve and daughter, Bethany of Tyler, Texas; her paternal grandmother, Altha Snyder of Athens, Ohio and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ohio, New York, and California.
