Callahan
Earl Patrick “Pat” Callahan died suddenly June 14. Monsignor Fred Bomar officiated at his funeral June 17 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Austin.
Interment followed at Hornsby Cemetery also in Austin.
Callahan was born July 8, 1936, in the Rockne Community to Earl and Lucy Callahan, the fifth of eight children. The Callahan clan became an integral part of the Central Texas agricultural community operating Capitol Feed and Milling and Callahan’s General Store. He was a familiar fixture at area auctions earning his living as a cattle buyer and rancher. After ranching in Travis, Bastrop, McCulloch and Mason counties, he and his family have operated the 4-C Ranch in Milam County outside of Cameron, since 1994.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and sister, Alethea McNair.
He is survived by his wife Paula Kay Callahan; sons Billy Mac Callahan and wife Cassie Sanders Callahan, of Cameron and Casey Earl Callahan, of Mason; daughter Mary Ann Jarutowicz and husband Glenn, of Spicewood; brothers Murray,Verlin and Jimmy Callahan; and sisters, Dolores Viktorin, Leora McCarthy and Leona Wilson; and grandson Clay Jarutowicz.
