Funeral services for John Tyler Hamiter, III, 48, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Phillips & Luckey Chapel. Rev. Leonard Muston and Rev. Dean Evans of Mt. Zion Baptist Church will officiate.
Mr. Hamiter died Tuesday in a Temple nursing home after a long illness.
He was born March 29, 1937, in Alabama to James William Hamiter Jr. and the late Mary Reed Hamiter.
He and Donnie Lee Gillaspy were married Dec. 21, 1957, in Andalusia, AL, and she survivors him.
A resident of Minerva, he was a lab analysis for Alcoa for 20 years.
Survivors in addition to his wife and father include one son, Tyler Hamiter of Minerva; three daughters, Joan Solomon of Minerva, Jerri Hamiter of Waco and Jodi Ballew of Fairfield.
Also, one brother, James W. Hamiter Jr. of Peachtree, GA, and one sister, Laurie Hall of Andalusis, AL; two grandchildren, Cherilin Solomon and Kori Ballew.
Pallbears will be Jim Foster, Louis Vrana, Leon Young, Albert Wheeler, Monroe Mortimer, Jack Hubert, John Vallach and Loyd Reeves.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be given to the American Cancer Society.
Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
