Barbara Ann Douglas, 53, of Rockdale died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at New Hope Baptist Church in Rockdale with Pastor Dennis Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Ms. Douglas was born July 8, 1952 in Rockdale to Ellis Douglas and Carrie Lou Richards Douglas.
She was a tax examiner with I.R.S. for 20 years. She retired in 1998 and received many awards for her outstanding performance.
She attended Aycock School and was a 1970 graduate of Rockdale High School where she was first chair clarinet in band. She also attended Central Texas College in Killeen and received her degree of Associate of Science in Business at T.S.T.I.
Survivors include son, Michael Dewitt Douglas of Austin; mother, Carrie Lou Douglas of Rockdale; father, Ellis Douglas, Sr. of Hearne; four brothers, Ellis Douglas, Jr. and wife Coleman of Rockdale, Kirk Melvin Douglas of Rockdale, Stanley Douglas and wife Aretha of Bartlett and Donald Ray Brown of Reno, NV; three sisters, Darlene Douglas of Austin, Janice Marie Douglas of Houston and Doris Ann Brown of Phoenix, AZ; nieces and nephews, Jarmonde, Jerry, Ivory, Ebony, Katheren, Leslie, Ashley, Sosha and Doneé; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers included Jarvis L. Bradley, Sr., Sterline Williams, Fredrick Williams, Nathan L. Williams, Sr., Malcolm Williams, Byron Williams and Haywood Richards.
Honorary pallbearers were Ellis Douglas, Jr., Stanley Douglas, Michael D. Douglas, Kirk Douglas, Donald Brown and Jarmonde McBride.
