My father lived in Howard County to work his way through high school. He graduated in 1929 (70 years ago). He is now 89 years old and lives in Clarksville, Tx. All my life I have enjoyed looking at his Lone Wolf Year book of 1929.
I still have it. I also have his "Texas College Entrance Cerfificate" for Colorado High School. Signed by Supt. Ben S. Peek 6/20/29. Also have his class ring, but it is pretty smooth. Have picture of high school football team which he was on. He only played his senior year for some
reason. The ball in the pictures says "CHS 28". We made a stop there about 10 years ago and took our picture
at he old high school building. My fathers name is Wesley Giddens. He moved back to Red River Co when he finished high school. He worked for this brother Abilene Giddens who has a gas station. Abilene is buried there in Colorado City. Abilene married Ophilia Pate in Mitchell Co.
and he died in 1944 at the age of 43. Heart attack in the act. I live in Paris, Tx and go to church with a George and Ruth Bryant. He retired after working most of his life in Colorado City. I have often though of making a trip to the local high school with the above items if I thought there was an interest. My dad told me "the first football game I every saw, I played in". Dad was a member of the "BBB" (Big Black Buzzards". The girls basketball team is really something to see. Macy Galen the captain. Prettiest Girl
was Marie Johnson, Cleverest Boy (best looking) Scott Spalding.
I thought this might interest some of you.
