I have newspaper accounts that on 31 Aug 1887 reporting that W D GOOCH was a deputy US Marshal shot and wounded by John JOHNSON. GOOCH was reported to be intoxicated. Old West Magazine winter 1988 reports that Colorado City town marshal W D GOOCH was shot and killed by George BELL and a man named "Happy Jack" in early April 1892. BELL was sentenced to 35 years in prison but the case was reversed. The appeals court case called him "Dr. GOOCH." I am interested in the date of the fatal shooting, place of burial, family history, whether GOOCH was ever a DUSM or town marshal.
