I am seeking information on the Eiland Family of Cuthbert, Mitchell Co, TX.
Charles Daniel Calvin Eiland b.1839 Alabama (probably Montgomery Co) married
Winifred Jerusia Talbert b.1844 Alabama
This may have been his second marriage. I have yet to find their marriage records.
Charles D C Eiland was a rancher in the Cuthbert area. The Eiland Ranch was sold, as the story goes, to pay a debt to the local general store. It later was known as the Cuthbert Ranch. Charles was shot on a train to Shreveport in 1886. His wife, Winifred died in the 1940's and is buried on a plot on what was the old Eiland ranch.
They had twelve children:
Sally, Molly, Irene,
Nettie Eileen (m.Frank Talmadge Alexander in Cuthbert in 1892, these were my grandparents),
Louisa (m.Metson of Colorado City, had daughter Loreene, son Marcus)
Bell (m.Miller of Colorado City, had two sons, John and Frank)
'Charlie' (m.Sam Curl of Fresno, CA)
John (with Sheriff's dept in Roswell, NM, assisted in the capture of Pancho Villa)
'Buddy' Perry (killed in range warfare over sheep vs cattle.)
Levi (died at 4 years)
Nettie Eileen moved to Erath Co, then Carter, OK. then CA.
most of this information is from her children.
A most interesting family. Am hoping there are some lingering records or memories in the area. Any information will be most appreciated.
