B. B. DAVIS Dies in Illinois
Funeral services for B. B. DAVIS, native of Saint Jo, who died Christmas Eve day at Carbondale, Illinois, were conducted there Thursday morning, according to word received here by relatives. He died suddenly Monday, result of a heart attack or stroke. Mr. Davis was born at Saint Jo, February 5, 1885, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. M. DAVIS, early pioneers of this community. For many years A. M. Davis and Capt. BLEVINS were engaged in hardware business here. After his father’s death, B. B. Davis was active in the management of the established and continued its operation until he retired about five years ago. He had since made his home at Carbondale, where his daughter and son lived. Mrs. Davis preceded him in death several years ago as did one son BIEGE DAVIS. Mr. Davis had been receiving treatments for a throat ailment… Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. LEON SHERRETZ and a son L. H. DAVIS both of Carbondale, Illinois; a brother G. C. DAVIS and sister Mrs. OTHAY (MAY) DONNELL both of Saint Jo and another sister Mrs. OLIVER (KISS) of near Dallas.

Rev. JOHNSTON Dies at Gainesville
Funeral services for Rev. FRANK JOHNSTON, 53, husband of the former Miss MARIE HUCHTONS of Saint Jo, were held at Van Alstyne. Rev. Johnston died Thursday morning in a Gainesville hospital following a heart attack. He had been pastor of the Woodbine Baptist church the past year. The rites were conducted with the following ministers officiating: Rev. LLOYD MOTTLEY of Lufkin; Rev. J. R. SMALLWOOD of Gainesville and Rev. JAMMIE ALLEN of Van Alstyne. Burial was at the Van Alstyne cemetery. Rev. Johnston was born June 17, 1898 in Parker County, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. JOHNSTON. Survivors are his wife, one son P. M. JOHNSTON of Waco; two daughters, Mrs. JIM EADS of Dallas and Mrs. REX BEARDON of Fort Worth; his mother Mrs. P. M. JOHNSTON of Krum; a brother CLAUDE JOHNSTON of Fort Worth and a sister Mrs. W. F. BLALOCK of Ponder. Relatives attending the funeral from Saint Jo were Mr. and Mrs. MAXIE DILL and Mr. and Mrs. ROY HUCHTONS.
Mrs. MARY REBECCA RICH
Funeral services were held at Bowie Tuesday for Mrs. MARY REBECCA RICH, 61, who died of a heart attack at her home Sunday. She is survived by her husband, JOE RICH, three sons, two daughters, two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. CUNNINGHAM
Funeral services for Mrs. FANNIE CUNNINGHAM, widow of the late R. L. CUNNINGHAM, were held at Mountain View, Arkansas, New Year’s Day, according to word received here. She died at her home there December 30. The late R. L. CUNNINGHAM was a brother of ERNEST CUNNINGHAM of this city, where he grew to manhood and resided for a number of years. Mrs. Cunningham is survived by two sons, one in Mountain View, Arkansas and one at Waco, Texas.
GEORGE F. BRADBURN Dies in Oklahoma
Funeral services were held at Broken Bow, Oklahoma Monday for GEORGE F. BRADBURN, former resident of the Dye Mound community. He died January 3. Children of the deceased are Mr. and Mrs. L. O. BRADBURN of Paducah, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. BUD BARRON, Mrs. W. H. BROWN and ROY BRADBURN, all of Amarillo, stopped here en route from the funeral to visit their cousin, Mrs. J. L. SHOMAKE.
Rites for Mrs. PADGETT
Funeral services for Mrs. LYDIA C. PADGETT, 83, widow of the late J. W. PADGETT, were held at the chapel of Scott Brothers Funeral Home here Monday afternoon with Rev. JOHN RAYMOND officiating. Mrs. Padgett died Sunday at the home of a daughter Mrs. L.B. WOOD at Duncan, Oklahoma, after an illness of two months. She was born July 1, 1868 at Warrenton, Marshall County, Alabama, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. MORROW. She was married to the late Mr. Padgett May 13, 1883 and they moved to Texas to settle near Montague in 1897. Mr. Padgett farmed near Montague. He passed away in 1942. Mrs. Padgett obeyed the Gospel in 1891. Children include 11 of 12 children born to the couple, as well as 44 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the final rites were grandsons, ALBERT GRAHAM of Gainesville, BILL PADGETT of Saint Jo, PAUL TUCKER of El Paso, VIRGEL WOOD of Oklahoma City, BUDDY WOOD of Duncan, Okla., and AUSTIN PADGETT of Sheridan, Arkansas. The children were: Mesdames L. B. WOOD of Duncan, Okla., J. C. GRAHAM of Gainesville, MYRTLE DOLAN of California, OLIVER TUCKER of Saint Jo, BEN HUTSON of Tulia, and Messrs. J. H. PADGETT of Saint Jo, J. F. PADGETT of Bakersfield, Calif., R. E. PADGETT of Henderson, Nevada, W. S. PADGETT of Little Rock, Arkansas, A. B. PADGETT of Bakersfield, and D. C. PADGETT of Myra.
Man Succumbs to Wreck Injuries
The body of PRATT G. SANFORD, 23, who died in a Gainesville hospital Friday morning from injuries received in an automobile accident Thursday night, was taken to Texarkana for burial Saturday. Sanford was fatally injured when a pickup truck he was driving ran off a narrow bridge between Freemound and Hardy about 6 p.m. Thursday. He taken to a Gainesville hospital in a Scott Brothers ambulance. …Sanford told highway patrolman LESTER ROBERTSON that he was employed by a motor company at Wichita Falls but inquiry there developed they did not know the victim.

Rites for JOHN JANEWAY
Funeral services were held in Nocona Thursday afternoon for JOHN JANEWAY, 47, native of Montague County who died in San Angelo late Tuesday. He had made his home at San Angelo since moving from Wichita Falls eight years ago. Janeway is survived by his widow, two daughters Mrs. VIRGINIA CHESTLEY and Miss RACHAEL JANEWAY both of Tyler; his mother Mrs. ETTA JANEWAY of Wichita Falls; three sisters Mrs. H. C. REEVES and Mrs. ROBET LUDOEPHUS both of Wichita Falls, Mrs. J. B. DOUGHERTY of Houston; five brothers, JOE L. and JOUPERT JANEWAY, both of Nocona, JAMES JANEWAY of Fort Worth, W. B. JANEWAY of Wichita Falls, and ORREN JANEWAY of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
J. W. LAMBERT Killed Friday
JOHN W. LAMBERT, 52, was killed while working on Highway 82 about three miles west of Nocona last Friday morning. A charge of negligent homicide in the second degree was filed in Montague County court against CHARLES PAUL GATTIS, 49, of Wichita Falls in connection with the death. Gattis made bond of $1500. Funeral services for Mr. Lambert were conducted from the Nocona Methodist church. He was a native of Spanish Fort and had resided in this county all his life. He had been an employee of the Highway Department since 1944. County attorney BOYD BARJENBURCH said that the body was thrown 163 feet from the point of impact and the car stopped 1300 feet from that point. Front of the car was demolished. Mr. Lambert was pouring a surface mixture on the highway when he was struck by the vehicle, according to press releases of the accident. Mr. Lambert is survived by his widow; three daughters Misses WAUNZITA, EMMA LOU, and NANNETTA LAMBERT, all of Nocona.

Rites for Mrs. Mitchell
Funeral services for Mrs. MARY ELIZABETH COLLIER MITCHELL, 67, wife of FRANK MITCHELL of Gruver and a native of Montague County, were held from the Saint Jo Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon with Bro. JOHN RAYMOND officiating. Interment in the Montague cemetery Mrs. Mitchell died Sunday afternoon at Spearman. She was born on the Collier family homestead near Montague, July 1, 1884, and was married June 34, 1911 to FRANK MITCHELL. They resided in this county until 1942 when they moved to Gruver where they were making their home at the time of her death. Pallbearers: WALTER, FRANK, and JIM COLLIER, ED COOKSEY, ALVIN EDES, and LEE HUSBAND. Survivors include her husband; three sons, CLETUS of Vernon, LEROY of Gruver and GOALBURT of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; three brothers ISOM COLLIER and TOM COLLIER of Saint Jo, JOHN COLLIER of Bakersfield, California; and two sisters Mrs. LOU OFFILL of Ontario, California, and Mrs. LILY REIMERS of Nocona.
L. G. CHANDLER
Funeral services fro L. G. CHANDLER, 70, retired Ringgold rancher, were held Saturday afternoon at the Nocona First Methodist church. Burial was at the Nocona cemetery. Chandler died Thursday at the ranch home of his son, C. W. CHANDLER near Ringgold. Other survivors are another son, J. C. CHANDLER of Nocona; one daughter Mrs. R. L. GORDAN of Nocona and three grandchildren.

Cousin of Mrs. J. C. EMBRY Succumbs
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. EMBRY were at Denton to attend the funerals services there for HARRY CRADDOCK PARKS, 25, a member of the editorial staff of the Wichita Daily Times and a cousin of Mrs. Embry. He died in a Wichita Falls hospital Monday afternoon after an extended illness caused by a rare blood disease. Parks was born and reared in Denton where he graduated from North Texas State College with a degree in journalism. He worked on the Denton Record-Chronicle before joining the Wichita Falls paper in May 1948. He was a feature writer and reporter of municipal affairs. His last article, a story of dredging at Lake Wichita, appeared in the Sunday Times, Jan. 7. His illness had prevented him from working for several weeks. He was active in Boy Scout work in Wichita Falls. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss KATHRYN KELLER of Dallas; a year old son SCOTT KELLER; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. PARKS of Denton; three sisters Mrs. JIM MURRAY of Austin, SARAH ANN and JANET PARKS of Denton. A brother was killed overseas during World War II.
Rites for Mrs. LAUDERDALE
Funeral services for Mrs. DORA GIFFIS LAUDERDALE, 60, who died in Oklahoma City early Wednesday morning, were held from the First Baptist church here Thursday afternoon with Rev. P. THOMPSON and Rev. GLENN FIELD officiating. Interment was in Mountain Park cemetery directed by Scott Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Lauderdale was born January 29, 1892 near Gainesville in Cooke County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. GRIFFIS, pioneers of Cooke-Montague area. She made her home in Texas until May 1919 when she moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1938 she moved to Oklahoma City and four years later was transferred to Washington, D. C. She was an employee of the Internal Revenue Service. She returned to Oklahoma City where she died in a hospital Wednesday after a long illness. Pallbearers; JAKE MCDONALD of Gainesville; LEWIS GEPHART of Turner Ranch, Oklahoma; LUKE SLAUGHTER, JIM EMBRY, T. E. GILES, C. C. WARE, and LEE HUSBAND, all of Saint Jo. Services for L. E. SNOW
Bro. LEE PATRIDGE of Montague officiated at the last rites of LEWIS E. SNOW, who died in Wichita Falls Monday night, from the chapel of Scott Brothers funeral home here Wednesday afternoon. Interment was at Shiloh. Mr. Snow was born in Waxahachie, August 12, 1892 and had lived in the northwest Texas area for the past 35 years. The 59 year old oil field worker had resided at Wichita Falls for seven years. Prior to that he had made his home at Capps Corner and Bulcher areas. Survivors include his wife; four sons FURNEY T. SNOW, CLAYTON SNOW, JAMES E. SNOW, all of Kamay; and HILLARD E. SNOW of Wichita Falls; three daughters Mrs. DOROTHY L. NORMAN, Mrs. MARGAREE L. HARRIS, both of Kamay, and Mrs. IMA JEWEL FUFLER of Azle; three sisters Mrs. WILLIS BRANCH of Tioga, Mrs. LEE BRANCH and Mrs. ALLEN BRANCH, both of Gainesville.

Mother of Jno. Mosman Dies
Solemn requiem mass for Mrs. CATHERINE MOSMAN, 71, was celebrated Tuesday morning at St. Peter’s Catholic church in Lindsay, with a son of the deceased, Rev. FRED MOSMAN of Dallas, as celebrant. He was assisted by Rev. JOSEPH FUHRMANN of Corpus Christi and Rev. DAVID FLUSCHE of Subiaco, Arkansas, brother and nephew, respectively, of the deceased. Interment was in the Lindsay cemetery. She was the mother of JOHN MOSMAN of this city. Mrs. Mosman, wife of FRED MOSMAN, died at the family residence in Lindsay Sunday morning following an extended illness. Mrs. Mosman was born CATHERINE FUHRMAN in Iowa on Feb. 20, 1880 and came to Texas with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. HENRY FUHRMANN in 1893. They settled at Lindsay in 1894 and she married FRED MOSMAN there on Nov. 24, 1903. She was a member of St. Anne’s society and of St. Peter’s Catholic church. Mrs. Mosman is survived by her husband, who for many years operated a grocery store at Lindsay; three daughters, Mrs. CHARLES CURRAN of Dallas, Mrs. WILLIAM LAUX of San Antonio, Mrs. FLOYD JONES of Houston; four sons, JOHN of Saint Jo, ERNEST of Collingwood, New Jersey, EDGAR of San Antonio, and Rev. FRED MOSMAN of Dallas, 22 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; seven brothers MIKE, JOE, TONY, MATT, WILLIE and HENRY FUHRMANN, all of Cooke County and Rev. Hankins Funeral
Funeral services for ELVEY A. HANKINS, a nursery man who died in Corpus Christi Tuesday, were held from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bowie Thursday. Rev. J. W. BURGETT, pastor, officiated. Burial was at Briar Creek cemetery. Hankins lived in Corpus Christi for the past ten years. He was born in Montague County Jan. 1, 1898 and was reared in and around Bowie. Hanks was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific with the Navy Seabees. He was active in the Burkburnett oil boom, the Breckenridge and the Mexia oil booms during his early manhood. Survivors include his wife; four sons, JAMES HANKINS, HARRIS HANKINS, CECIL HANKINS of Fort Worth; EUGENE HANKINS of Los Angeles, Calif.; four brothers, JOHN F. HANKINS and LEONARD HANKINS of Bowie, ROY HANKINS of Wichita Falls, M. E. HANKINS of Nocona; two sisters Mrs. DAVIS MORGAN of Bowie and Mrs. FRED KAISER of Nocona.

Masonic rites were conducted at the Montague cemetery Wednesday for JAMES D. COWAN, 28, of Dallas, who died Saturday in Dallas following a heart attack. Funeral services were under the direction of Poole Funeral Home of Dallas. Young Cowan was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mr. RALPH COWAN of Billings, Oklahoma; a sister Mrs. WARREN YOUNG of Tulsa; a brother RALPH COWAN Sr. of the U. S. Army and other relatives in Montague.

Mrs. O. P. HILL Dies at Nocona
Mrs. O. P. HILL Sr., 81, resident of Montague County for 68 years died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. WALLACE HOWARD in Nocona. Funeral services will be Friday from the First Methodist church with the pastor, Dr. BOB EVANS, officiating. Burial will be at Nocona cemetery arranged by Scott Brothers Funeral Home. She was married to O. P. HILL Sr. on July 3, 1877 in Sherman and the couple came to Montague County in 1884. Hill died in 1930. Mrs. Hill is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. LEELA BILLINGSLEY of Dallas, Mrs. HENRIETTA BURGESS of Gilliland, Mrs. HOWARD, Mrs. DAISY SHACKELFORD and Mrs. COUTS SKINNER, all of Nocona, Mrs. LEELA NUNLEY of Canyon; four sons, JIM HILL of Oklahoma City, LEE HILL of Santa Paula, California; FRED HILL of San Simon, Arizona, O. Montague Woman’s Funeral Rites
Funeral rites were held at St. John’s Catholic Church, Montague, Wednesday morning for Mrs. IDA CARMINATI, 65, who died Tuesday in Wichita Falls. Mrs. Carminati was born in Osage City, Kansas in 1887 and came to Montague County in 1901 at which time she married PETE CARMINATI. The couple operated a farm south of Montague for several years. Survivors include three sons, JIM, FRANK and BARNEY, all of Montague.

C . H. POLLARD and Mrs. POLLARD
A plane crash near Temple, Oklahoma Saturday afternoon of last week claimed the lives of two Bulcher people, well known in Saint Jo. Funeral services were held for CHESTER HOLLIE POLLARD, 46, and his wife, MARIE E. POLLARD, 39, were conducted at the First Baptist Church at Healdton, Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. were killed when their plane struck a high voltage line when Pollard attempted to land in a field near Temple. They had left Bulcher only a few minutes earlier and had planned to visit Mrs. Pollard’s brother, BILL WALLACE, who lived only about 200 yards from where the plane struck the electrical line. The plane burst into flames and Mrs. Pollard was trapped in the wreckage. Pollard was thrown clear. Mrs. Pollard perished in the plane… Pollard did not succumb to his injuries until minutes after reaching a Wichita Falls hospital at 3:00. He had compound fractures of both legs, a fractured skull and severe burns. Mr. Pollard was familiar with the field, having landed there on a number of occasions… Pollard and his wife took regular plane trips over this section of the state and often made flights to the Gulf Coast on weekend fishing trips. Mr. Pollard had been an employee of the Kewanee Oil Co. since 1936. They moved to Bulcher from Healdton, Oklahoma in 1942. The fatal plane crash was occurred on another Kewanee Oil Co. lease.
CHESTER HOLLIE POLLARD was born in Montague County October 11, 1905. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. MARGIE POLLARD of Modesto, California; two brothers, CHARLES O. POLLARD Jr. of Modesto and G. W. POLLARD of Fowler, Colorado; and a sister Mrs. THOMAS B. EMERSON…(article cut off)
Muenster Youth Killed
LEON FRANCIS REITER, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. CLEMENS REITER of Muenster, was fatally wounded early Saturday afternoon in a hunting accident near Muenster. … In addition to his parents, He is survived by two sisters, three brothers, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. FRED HOEDEBECK of Muenster.
LOUIS L. VANNOY
LOUIS L. VANNOY, 68, retired farmer of Belcherville and a resident of Montague County since 1886, died in a Wichita Falls hospital Monday. Funeral services were held from the Nocona First Baptist church Wednesday afternoon. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. He is survived by his brother, R. C. VANNOY of Nocona and Belcherville and his sister Mrs. J. M. HUTSON of Fort Worth.

Services for J. M. PRUITT
Funeral services for J. M. PRUITT, 80 year old native of Montague County and pioneer of the Peabody community, were held from the McGrady cemetery Sunday afternoon with Bro. M. A. TRAVIS, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was arranged by Dunbar-Daugherty funeral directors. Mr. Pruitt was born February 7, 1872 and died February 23 at Terral, Oklahoma. He made his home on the farm most of his life, moving to St. Jo in recent years only after his health began to fail. His wife, known as Aunt NAN, preceded him in death a number of years ago. Survivors include LEE STEVENSON, a stepson of Saint Jo and a nephew JOHNNY PRIEST of Spur. Pallbearers were JIM EMBRY, TOM CABLE, BILL BESS, CHIEF MCMAHAN, LESTER HENDRICKS and C. W. VARNEY.
Mrs. HAMMOND
Memphis, Texas: Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Methodist church here for Mrs. MARTHA JANE HAMMOND, 92, a resident of Memphis for more than 45 years, who died at her home late Wednesday. Rev. ROLLO DAVIDSON, pastor, and Rev. ROY SHAHAN and Bro. B. M. LITTON conducted the service here. Burial was at Fairview cemetery here. Mrs. Hammond was born in 1859 in Perry, Georgia and moved to Texas at age of six. She married in 1879 to J. M. HAMMOND and the couple moved to Hall County in 1907. Mrs. Hammond and her sister Mrs. JAN CRUMP were charter members of the Saint Jo Methodist church 80 years. Her husband died in 1937. Survivors include a son, GEORGE HAMMOND; two daughters Mrs. HENRY NEWMAN and Miss IRA HAMMOND, and a brother, W. S. CHANCEY, all of Memphis; two sisters Mrs. JAN CRUMP of Fort Worth and Mrs. MOLLIE MORGAN of Saint Jo; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. S. M. KIDD Honored on 87th Birthday
Mrs. S. M. KIDD of the Bulcher community observed her 87th birthday at her home on February 22 when seven of her children were present. She has been a resident of the Bulcher community for more than 60 years. Mrs. Kidd was born in Missouri Feb. 22, 1865 and came to Texas with her parents when she was 8 years old. They settled at Alvord in Wise County where she was married to the late A. C. KIDD in 1882. Her late husband was better known as Captain Kidd. She has lived on the same farm for 60 years and in the same house for more than 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. KIDD and daughter now reside with her. She continues to carry on her housework, tending to chickens and garden despite her age. Others present for the observance were: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. FANNING of Abilene, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. KIDD of Gainesville, Mrs. F. E. CHISM of Quanah, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. BOST of Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. KIDD of Alamagordo, New Mexico, and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. KIDD of Lawton.

99 Years Old
J. A. ‘JOE’ DENNIS, a resident of the Bulcher community for the past 81 years, observed his 99th birthday Tuesday at his home and that of his son, Mr. and Mrs. BAILEY DENNIS. A number of children and other relatives were present for the occasion. Mr. Dennis has been a member of the Fish Creek Masonic lodge for the past 61 years. He was born March 4, 1853 in Kaufman County and moved to Cooke County with is parents to settle in Bulcher January 1871. During his active life he was engaged in farming and livestock raising.

Funeral services for HAYWOOD MORRISON LUSK, 74, former Saint Jo resident and father of ROY LUSK, were held from the Presbyterian church of Sanger Tuesday afternoon, March 4. he died Sunday morning in a Houston hospital following a short illness. Mr. Lusk suffered a stroke on Feb. 25 and was admitted to Galen Park hospital in Houston where he succumbed. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lusk and daughters were in Houston to be at his bedside and had started the return trip home when he died. Mr. Lusk, a native of Red Oak, was a retired employee of Lone Star Gas Co. He was subdistrict manager of the old Community Gas Co. when eh lived here from 1929 to January 1942 when he was transferred to a warehouse job in Denton. He and family came to Saint Jo from Pilot Point. He had been an employee of the gas company 21 years when he was transferred to Denton. He was born at Red Oak on November 17, 1877. Mr. Lusk was married to BESSIE A. BATIS on Sept. 21, 1902. Four children were born to this union, three boys and a girl who passed away in infancy. Survivors include his wife; three sons, HUGH LUSK of Dallas, CLAY LUSK of Houston, and ROY LUSK of Saint Jo; three sisters, Mrs. KERBY, Mrs. N. D HUNTER of Fort Worth, and Mrs. HUGH KEEL of Denton; three brothers, J. W. LUSK of Fort Worth, O. E. LUSK of Dewey, Oklahoma and JOE LUSK of Athens.
CHARLES LONG
A former resident of the Dye Mound community, CHARLIE LONG died at Ringgold last week. Funeral services were held from the Ringgold Methodist church and interment was at Long Branch cemetery. Mr. Long operated a filling station at Ringgold. He is survived by his wife; three sons, COZELL LONG of Nocona, MERVIN LONG of Bowie, KENNETH LONG of Wichita Falls; three daughters Mrs. BEATRICE SAMPLES of Nocona, Mrs. ESTELLA COX of Mallard and Mrs. WYNNETH; a sister Mrs. BEN BURK of Saint Jo, and a granddaughter Mrs. THELMA GASTON of Dye Mound.

Five Killed in Slick Paving Crash Sunday
Five people were killed and three others injured in the worst traffic accident in history for this area when two automobiles crashed Sunday afternoon on rain-slicked Highway 82 about 3 ½ miles east of Saint Jo. The dead include a mother and her baby son and a young Negro mother and her two sons. They are Mrs. R. H. KINTER, 30, of Wichita Falls and her son JOE BOB KINTER age 4 months; EULA GOODEN, 20, wife of BEN GOODEN, and her two sons, BEN Jr. 3 and JAMES 8 months, all from Kirkland in Childress County. Kinter, an internal revenue agent, suffered a broken right foot, right knee, right wrist, and left elbow. Gooden had his nose severed and suffered an injured right foot. His brother, SAM GOODEN, 18, the other occupant of the negro family car, received minor injuries. The accident occurred when the Goodens were driving east en route to Cooper and the Kinters were going west toward Wichita Falls.
Services for Mrs. Solomon
Funeral services for Mrs. MARTHA ADA SOLOMON, 47, wife of G. C. SOLOMON, were held from the chapel of Scott Brothers Funeral Home here Wednesday afternoon with Rev. WILLIAM J. HODGE, pastor of the Methodist church, and Elder JOHN RAYMOND of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in Mountain Park cemetery. Mrs. Solomon was found dead Sunday morning in the chicken yard of her home. She is believed to have suffered a heart attack. She was born 1905 in Courtney, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. CAGLE now of Saint Jo, Texas. Pallbearers were WRIGHT EMBRY, CECIL LAWLER, ROY LAWLER, V. R. LAWSON, ALONZO LAWSON and LOIS EMBRY.
Survivors are her husband, G. C. SOLOMON; two daughters Mrs. BETTY ADAMS of San Angelo and Mrs. MARIE BRUCE of Pueblo, Colorado; three sons, ALFORD CAGLE of San Angelo, R. C. JOHNSON of San Angelo, and LINDAY EARL JOHNSON of Saint Jo; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L.CAGLE of Saint Jo; six sisters Mrs. SPENCER and Mrs. EATON, Mrs. W. C. EMBRY, Mrs. H. D. EMBRY, of Saint Jo, Mrs. LORETTA PRICE of Bonita, and Mrs. ROSS STICE of Sivells Bend; three brothers, EARL CAGLE of Graham, Oklahoma, GEORGE CAGLE of Sivells Bend, and S/Sgt. WILLIAM LEE CAGLE of Great Falls, Montana; a stepdaughter Mrs. PAULINE SEAY of Belcherville, and seven grandchildren.

V. H. FORRESTER
Funeral services for V. H. FORRESTER, 79, father of HENRY H. FORRESTER of Saint Jo, were held at Alvord March 31, following his death March 28. The rites were conducted from the First Baptist church of Alvord with Rev. RAY RILEY and Rev. ROY MONTGOMERY officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Mr. Forrester was born Oct. 22, 1872 in Marietta, Georgia. He married Miss DORA WALKER in 1891 and they moved to Texas about 1898 to settle near Alvord. For 32 years they made their home on farms between Saint Jo and Forestburg. Ten days before his death, Mr. and MRS. Forrester moved back to Alvord where he suffered a fatal stroke. Survivors include his wife who will continue to live at Alvord; five sons HENRY of Saint Jo, LEE and OTTO of Stinnett, BILL of Odessa and CHARLIE of Luling; four daughters, Mrs. MAMIE BYFORD of Decatur, Mrs. MINNIE CAGE of Alvord, Mrs. ALMA SALMON of Duncan and Mrs. BELLE SMITH of Santa Barbara, California; three sisters Mrs. Y GREGG of Denison, Mrs. JOE SANFORD and Mrs. GEORGE GUEST of Alvord, 37 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

H. C. LASEMAN
Funeral services for HENRY CHARLES LASEMAN, 82, retired Katy RR section forman and long time resident of this area, will be held from the chapel at Scott Brothers Funeral Home here Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Mr. Laseman died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. ROY ATTEBERRY, in the Freemound community early Thursday morning. Interment will be in Coker cemetery. Mr. Laseman was born July 2, 1870 in Kentucky and came to Texas with his parents when he was six years of age. He had lived in the Cooke-Montague county area since coming to Texas. For 11 years he was Saint Jo foreman of the Katy railroad section crew and the balance of the time he spent farming. For the past ten years he had made his home with his daughter Mrs. Atteberry. He died in his sleep from what is believed to have been a heart attack. He was a member of the Illinois Bend Masonic lodge no. 665. Survivors include eight sons, JOHN, BERLIN, ARTHUR, ERNEST, BUFORD and GLIDWELL, all of Wichita Falls, HERNY LASEMAN of Levelland and BRYAN of Saint Jo and Falls City, Nebraska; four daughters Mrs. FLOYD DUDLEY of Clovis, New Mexico, Mrs. CORA TALLEY of San Antonio, Mrs. ROY ATTEBURY of Forestburg and Mrs. JOLLY MCMAHAN of Dye Mound; two brothers GEORGE and CHARLES LASEMAN of Oklahoma; two sister Mrs. JOHN MASON of Fletcher, Oklahoma and Mrs. SENA HENNIGAN of Roff, Okla,, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rites for C. L. CAGLE
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the First Baptist church for CLINT LEONARD CAGLE, 76, longtime resident of Montague County, who died at his home here Friday. Rev. J. P. LITTLE of Montague and Rev. GLENN FIELD, Saint Jo pastor, officiated at the last rites. Interment was in Fairview cemetery at Gainesville, arranged by Dunbar-Daugherty Funeral Home. Mr. Cagle was born in Arkansas August 30, 1875 and moved to Texas at age of ten years. He was residing at Rubottom, Texas when he was married to Miss MYRTLE LAWSON in 1902. They moved to Montague County about 40 years ago. Survivors are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. W. C. EMBRY of Saint Jo, Mrs. R.R. PRICE of Bonita, Mrs. W. E. DAVID JONES
Funeral services were held from the chapel of Scott Brothers Funeral Home here Sunday afternoon for DAVID JONES, who died at his home six miles west of Saint Jo Friday afternoon. Bro. JOHN RAYMOND and Bro. WINSTEAD COOPER officiated at the rites. Interment was at Mountain Park cemetery. He was born in Cooke County January 30, 1877 and moved with his parents to Montague County when two years of age and with the exception of two years in Oklahoma, he resided his entire life in the Saint Jo area. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for many years and engaged in farming until his retirement several years ago. He was married to MARY LULA COOK on July 7, 1907. To this union two children were born, a daughter VIRGINIA OLETA and a son who died at age of four weeks. Mrs. Jones died in July of 1911. He was married to BERTHA FROGDON October 29, 1914. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Mrs. DON A. WIGLEY of Clay City, Illinois, a granddaughter DONNA FAITH; three sisters Miss LUCY JONES of Albert, Oklahoma, Mrs. J. S. COLE of Saint Jo, Mrs. S. B. JONES of Carnegie, Okla.; two brothers, T. B. JONES of Glendale, California, ANDREW JONES of Albert, Oklahoma, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were W. A. PRICE, BURTLE GIBSON, C. J. A. ‘JOE’ DENNIS
Funeral services for JOSEPH A. DENNIS, 99, who died at his home near Bulcher Wednesday, will be held from the Bulcher Community Center building Friday afternoon with Rev. G. N. STONE of Nocona officiating. Interment at the Coker cemetery will be arranged by Scott Brothers Funeral Home following Masonic graveside rites by the Fish Creek Masonic lodge. Mr. Dennis, a resident of the Bulcher community since January 1871, was born in Kaufman County January 4, 1853. He was engaged in farming and stock raising until his retirement several years ago. He had been a member of the Fish Creek Masonic lodge for more than 60 years. His first wife, NANCY JORDAN, whom he married at Bulcher, died in April 1883 and Mr. Dennis married ELIZABETH ADELINE CUMMINGS in August 1883. She preceded him in death September 24, 1944. Survivors include W. Y. DENNIS of Rosedale, Oklahoma, J. M. DENNIS of Saint Jo, VINA HARRIS of Fort Worth, J. H. DENNIS of Foster, Oklahoma, R. L. DENNIS of Gainesville, G. C. DENNIS of Olton, LUCY WHALEY of Pampa, J. B. DENNIS of Bulcher and J. C. DENNIS of Dallas; 52 grandchildren, more than 80 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Widow of Late Dr. Moore
Mrs. MAUDE MOORE, widow of the late Dr. CLARENCE MOORE, and former resident of this city, died in Walla Walla, Washington Monday of this week, according to word received here. Funeral services were to have been held in Walla Walla Thursday and the body shipped to Sherman for burial beside her late husband. Mrs. Moore was born in Ohio and met Dr. Moore while on a visit here shortly after the young doctor came here from Sherman. They were married at the H. D. FIELD Sr. residence. Dr. Moore died in Dallas May 29, 1930. His services were conducted by Scott Brothers Funeral Home, with interment at West Hill Cemetery at Sherman. Mrs. Moore, who had been in ill health for some time, lived with her two sons, ROBERT LEE and CHARLES VICTOR MOORE at the time of her death. The graveside rites at Sherman will be conducted as soon as the body can be brought from Washington.
Mrs. RACHEL SCOTT
Funeral services for Mrs. RACHEL TENNESSEE SCOTT, 75, of Gainesville, were held Wednesday at the Rosston Methodist church with Rev. J. H. CHISM officiating. Burial was at the Alvord cemetery. She was the mother of BLAKE SCOTT and FRANK SCOTT and grandmother of OLA MAE SHOLTS, all of Forestburg. Mrs. Scott formerly lived at Forestburg. She died in a Gainesville hospital Monday. She was born in Tennessee October 1, 1878 and came to Texas at age of seven. She resided in Cooke County for 20 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. ELSIE CHAIRS of Fort Worth and Mrs. VADA MEYER of Gainesville; three sons, MERRITT SCOTT of Alvord, FRANK SCOTT and BLAKE SCOTTT of Forestburg, 19 grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.

Graham, Texas: Sixth annual homecoming and reunion of the NEWBY family was held recently at Ming Bend of Possum Kingdom Lake when children, grandchildren and other relatives the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Rites for Mrs. J. N. AGEE
Funeral services for Mrs. J. N. AGEE, age 86, of Bonita, who died at her home early Saturday morning, were held at the Shiloh Baptist church Tuesday afternoon with Bro. ROY COOK and Bro. SMITH MIDDLETON officiating. Interment was at Abels cemetery directed by Scott Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Agee was born April 21, 1866 in Alabama and came to Texas with her parents when she was five years old. They settled in Hunt County but moved to Grayson county in 1872. In 1880 they moved to Cooke County. She married December 23, 1880 at Marysville. She had been a member of the Shiloh Baptist church since 1888. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Surviving are six daughters, Mesdames BERT LOUGH of Saint Jo, MYRLE OSBERNE of Lorenzo, MINNIE HOWARD of Roswell, N. Mrs. MARY L. ROLING
Funeral services for Mrs. MAY LOU ROLING, wife of TONY ROLING of Electra and a native of this city, were held from the Saint Jo Church of Christ Thursday afternoon with Bro. HARRY L. HIX of Electra officiating. Interment was in Mountain Park cemetery arranged by Scott Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Roling died at Electra Wednesday after an extended illness. Mrs. Mary Lou Roling was born in Saint Jo on June 2, 1897, daughter of the late SAM M. ERWIN and Mrs. MARY E. ERWIN. She attended school and grew to womanhood here where she married TONY ROLING September 2, 1915. They continued to reside here for a number of years while he operated a barber shop and a café. For the past 2 ½ years they have resided at Electra. The remaining years were spent in a number of towns within the Wichita Falls area. She is survived by her husband, her mother Mrs. MARY E. ERWIN, three brothers, WILLIAM ERWIN of Enid, Oklahoma, JIM and TED ERWIN both of Saint Jo.
93rd Birthday
Aunt MOLLIE MONTGOMERY, pioneer woman of Bulcher community, observed her 93rd birthday Monday, May 19, when her children, grandchildren and friends call on her throughout the day. Aunt Mollie’s maiden name was MOLLIE JANE HUNT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. HUNT. She was born May 19, 1859 at Boling Green, Kentucky. She left Kentucky at age of 10 years with her parents and came to Texas in a covered wagon drawn by four horses. They were nine weeks on the road. They first settled at a place called Bloomfield in Cooke County. She married J. S. MONTGOMERY 12, 1876 and then moved to her present homestead in January 1877. They had ten children, of which seven are still living. They are Mrs. MARY HYMAN of Leon, Oklahoma; W. E. MONTGOMERY of Saint Jo Route 2, W. E. MONTGOMERY of Muenster Route 3, Mrs. NORA THOMPSON of Muenster Route 3, Mrs. ELECTRA HWOARD of Decatur, ROBERT MONTGOMERY of Wichita Falls and Mrs. LERIA PITMAN of Saint Jo. Her husband died February 5, 1908 and she has made her home with her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. MONTGOMERY, on the old home place she has resided for the past 74 years. Aunt Mollie remains active and alert, despite the many early day hardships she encountered.

W. C. MASTEN
Funeral services for WILLIAM CORNELIUS MASTEN, age 92, who died Sunday at this home at Sudan, were held Monday at the Sudan Methodist church. He was buried Tuesday at the Illinois Bend cemetery. He moved to Cooke County from Arkansas with his parents in 1873. A year later he moved to the Illinois Bend community where he lived until 1942 when he went to live near Sudan. Masten, a civic and religious leader, had farmed all his life. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge 61 years. Survivors are three daughters, Mesdames A. L. FRAZIER of Sudan, C. N. MCCLURE of Hereford, and DONA DOUGHTY of Morton; six sons, W. H. of Amherst, New Jersey; J. W. and ALTON of Morton, F. O. of Wellington and Sudan, GILBERT and ROBERT L. MASTEN of Sudan; two sisters Mrs. MITTE DYER of Wichita Falls and Mrs. JOE NEWMAN of Wewoka, Oklahoma, 21 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
