It may be a coincidence, but this is how my step-grandfather allegedly died. I don't have the info on hand at the moment, but it occurred in the early 1970's between Willis and Montgomery. It was first ruled a suicide, then the cause was changed to accidental death. The family is of the belief that he and his brother were both murdered. There is a lot more to it, but I won't bore you with the details unless you feel this is the story in which you are interested. If it is, I can give you full names, dates, copy of the death certificate, etc. Just respond. Regardless, good luck.

UPDATE: I definitely think her maiden name was Terry.

Her death certificate gives her maiden name as Terry. I also have four of her children's death certificates which also list her maiden name as Terry and her own marriage record in Colorado County on October 30, 1890 gives her maiden name as Terry. So, that makes at least six records giving her maiden name as Terry.

It's seeming more and more like she was an illegitimate birth. Her own obituary does not give parent names. I have an obituary for her brother, Hilliard Boulden Corder, who lists her as his sister. Lou's mother was Susan Virginia Terry and she married Samuel M.P. Corder on December 15, 1875 (four years after Lou's birth). The other children born to them were born after this date, including Hilliard Boulden Corder.

I would like to find the obituaries for the other Corder children and also for her parents. I bet there are obituaries for all of them.

I'm guessing since at least half of her children knew her mother's maiden name was the same as her own mother's maiden name, that SOMEONE knew the story behind her father at one point but, that has been lost to the descendants now.

Magnolia Cemetery is located in Magnolia, Texas off FM 1488 at North Sixth Street behind the First Baptist Church.

I could not read the first three letters of Fannie Pearl's last name so I googled "Montgomery County Sheriff Fannie Pearl" and it took me here. I'm looking for the parents of Lizzie Lou Terry Henderson.

My gr-gr-gr-grandmother was Susan Virginia Terry. She was born in Pecan Grove, Austin County, Texas in about 1852. Her parents were Hillard J.T. Terry and Mary Jane Redford. She appears on the U.S. Census with them in both 1860 and in 1870.

I have a marriage record for her and Samuel M.P. Corder in 1875 in Coryell County, Texas.

They may have lived in Montgomery County after their marriage as I have records of them owning land there.

I cannot find a census record for them in 1880; however, they do appear on other records in Colorado County around that time and through 1900. Later they moved to Wharton County, Texas where they are both buried in Hahn Cemetery.

Together they had four children:

Cora Isabelle Corder (1880-1963) married Albert Henderson
Hillard Boulden Corder (1885 - 1961)married Minnie E Still
Mary Purdy Corder (1888 - 1970) married John Henry Still
Earl Corder (1892 - 1960) married Lillian E ?

However, I have a family bible belonging to Lizzie Lou Terry with obituaries and photos of Susan Virginia Terry. One obituary belonging to Hillard Boulden Corder states that Lizzie Lou Terry Henderson was his sister.

Lizzie Lou Henderson was my gr-gr-grandmother and she married William Monroe Henderson in 1890 in Colorado County, Texas. On the marriage record, her maiden name is listed as "Terry". They moved to Wharton County in the same precinct as Susan Virginia Terry and SMP Corder shortly after 1900.

Lizzie Lou's birthday was August 15, 1871! This is four years before Susan Virigina Terry married SMP Corder in 1875. My guess is that either Susan had a previous marriage? or Lizzie Lou was born out of wedlock. I'm trying to find answers.

If anyone has any information about Lizzie Lou Terry Henderson or her parents or other family, I would be greatly appreciative.

Constable Thomas Beyett

Trying to find out any info on Thomas Beyett and family. He was killed in 1931. One suspect was sentenced to life in prison and the other was killed when he escaped jail. His death certificate says he is buried in Magnolia, but does not list a cemetery. Any help would be appreciated. I am also looking for a photo of him. James R. & Richard J. Pinchback

I have found headstones in Florida (Fort White, Columbia County) of a James R. Pinchback and his mother Catherine E. Pinchback.
James R. Pinchback was born Feb. 7, 1855 in TX and died June 8, 1912 in FL.
His Mother Catherine E. Pinchback was born in NC Jan. 15,1835 and died in Florida Feb. 15,1911.
I have no idea who these Pinchback's are and would love to see if they connect to my other Pinchbacks.
I found them in Montgomery Co. TX on the 1880 census and Catherine was already a widow. After that they are in FL on the 1900 and 1910 census. Could not find them before the 1880 census.
Any idea as to who these Pinchback's were would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ORSON SHAW survey 1849

Does anyone have any information about whether or not Captain Orson Shaw (Sumter, AL) ever lived on the land he was awarded for his service to the Republic in 1836? I show that he returned to Alabama after the War for Independence and did not return. The land was near the border with San Jacinto County. Peach Creek ran through the middle of the property. Edgar Glover (b. abt 1862, d. 1918) was "given to raise" by his mother to Martha Gant (b. 1810, d. 1878) who left him property with income in her Will. She appointed a Guardian who saw to his education and welfare.

I did find in my dad's old papers where-- when he returned to the states he had to file his army discharge papers at the county clerks office in the county that he lived in at the time of discharge. If you know where he lived during that time check with the county clerks office and hopefully you can get a copy of his army discharge papers. On the paperwork it gives a lot of information. It also tells if they received any medals etc.

My dad never mentioned the service. It changed him being in the military. Maybe something happened that he did not want to remember. I guess I will never know.

Keep in touch maybe we will find out something one of these days.

I am the great granddaughter of Frank Lee Sanford(Sandford)/
his parents were Thomas Benjamin Sandford and Mary Alice WALL Sandford. They are buried in Vossburg Cemetery in Jasper County Mississippi. They are also the parents of Mary Lou Sanford(Sandford) Herrington, wife of O. D. Herrington. Thomas Benjamin Sandford was born in Randolph, Bibb County, Alabama. He was the son of William Asbury Sandford and Lucinda Hicks Sandford Lawley. I was hoping you could tell me where Mary Lou and O. D. Herrington are buried..
