The papers record the death of another Texas veteran, who died at his home in Cooke County some days since, at the age of 83.

He was born in Barron county Ky., and in 1800 his father's family moved to Tennessee, where in 1824 he married Miss Rhoda Chisum, who still survives him. In 1833 Mr. and Mrs. Walling came to Texas, locating in Nacogdoches county, where they lived until 1836, when they moved to Rusk county. He served with General Houston in the war of independence, was promoted for bravery on the field of battle, and engaged in many a conflict with the indians during his frontier life.
