Classification: Query
Surnames: IRVINE, MCMAHON
Searching for further information on the three brothers from Lewisville, TN., whom migrated to Newton(then Jasper Co.)County, Texas just prior to the Texas Revolution. They were accompanied by thier father who died along the way. There were possibly more TN residents involved in this migration. Did any other Newton County researcher's ancestors come from this area of TN?
At least one brother, J. Sommerville IRVINE participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. One brother was also promoted to the rank of Major in the Texas Army, after Texas won its independence from Mexico.
J.S. IRVINE was married to one of my ancestors, Nancy McMAHON, daughter of W. Friend McMAHON Jr. I am trying to ascertain his place of burial and any other information on his life.
