My great aunt Irena or Arena Johnson tells the story that her family was attacked by Indians and all killed except her who was saved by their black nanny. They are listed on the 1860 Census in Red River County, Texas W. Johnson (father) Matilda (mother) and the following children: Arena age 7, William age 4, Sarah age 3, and Bradford born Apr 1860. If you have any information about this family please let me know. They do not show up anywhere in the 1870 Census except Irena. Irena (Arena) married Jesse Davis 12 Dec 1866 in Red River County when she was only 13.
