Hmmmm...none of these names fit.
The Moores are one of those hard working families that didn't own land, moved a lot and left no paper trail.
Plus, their descendants (except me) tke little to no interest in family tree, so there is no sharing.
Ever so often I'll fhave a eureka I 've found something moment that keeps me looking. You've been a big help and provided a loud eureka!!!

Shucks, you've got me blushing! Stick with me on this? Frank M. Grindstaff wed Amanda Moore, 6 Jul 1887 in Burnet County. Based solely on geographical proximity I belive she was J. A.'s daughter? Unfortunately she must have died prior to 1896 'cause F. M. Grindstaff married Lula McFarland, 8 Mar 1896 in Llano County. F. M. and Amanda had Gertrude 29 May 1888. View 1900 Mills-Goldthwaite-District 0111-Image 23 for Frank M. Grindstaff(34). Gertrude wed J. V. Lewis, 3 Jul 1904 in Burnet. They're found on census records. At some point, Gertrude divorced Mr. Lewis then wed a young soldier, Charles Murphy prior to 1940. She died Gertrude Murphy (29 May 1888 - 15 Jan 1951) in Bexar County.

Once again you've helped a ton.
Thanks for dates on Lee Fenton Moore.
I had the 1900 census but didn't see the significance of the entry for Lee as grandson. My guess is that he was orphaned from a brother of James Alexander Moore (my great grandfather).
I have found no Moores prior to James A.
I've patched a link from Lee to James and see Darlene as my 2nd cousin 1 removed.

Lost your teee, huh?(lol) I've reviewed it and decided to provide a little mo' assistance on your Moores! Lookup death certificate Robert Charles Moore (12 Apr 1882 - 10 Jan 1952). Lena Moore wed Napoleon Cardway but you'll find a wide variation in the surname. Hettie K. Moore wed William Arthur Sinclair/Senclair, 29 Nov 1904 in Schleicher County. Expect wide variations in that surname, also. 1910 Schleicher-Precinct 3-0226-Image 9 look for Arthur Sen Clair(32). 1920 Gray-Precinct 4-District 96-Image 3 search Walter A. Sinclair(41). Hettie incorrectly enumerated as "Eddie". Guessing Hettie died prior to 1930 'cause Arthur Sinclair enumerated with new wife Polina in El Paso-Precinct 2-District 80-Image 32. He's also enumerated with son, Everett, in Hudspeth-Precinct 2-District 2-Image 15. Your tree has Darlene's father displayed as a sibling. The 1900 census indicates he was grandson of James Alexander Moore/Ellen Elizabeth Bowmar? Any idea about his parentage? Lee Fenton Moore (16 May 1900 - 4 Mar 1984).

I was amazed to find your reply waiting this AM!
Your info is correct. Her brother was named Ernie. I was given one of his old rifle's as my first rifle. Darlene's son (age 3 or 4) was given to me to entertain during her funeral. I was age 5.
Haven't found the link To my tree but looking. My grandfather was Benjamin Earl Moore.

How to: Logon https://familysearch.org/ and setup a "free" user account if you haven't already. From that site's homepage, click highlighted "Death" then enter Reeves Texas in "Death Place" box. Enter 1940 to 1960 in "Year (Range)" boxes. Click highlighted "Parents" then enter surname Moore for the father. Click "Search". Review death certificate for Darlene Betty Schumann (8 Sep 1933 - 4 Aug 1955). Her parents were Lee Fenton Moore/Willie D. King. Her older brother was Earnest Edgar Moore (30 Sep 1930). Short definition for second cousins: "children born to parents who are first cousins". Does that apply in this case? The common ancestor is a great grandparent. The grandparents of second cousins are, therefore, siblings.

Back in '04 when I posted this message, I was the county coordinator for Reeves Co.on the TXGenWeb site. I wanted the books so when people asked for information about their ancestors I could look them up in these books. I am no longer the coordinator so don't need the books anymore. I never did find either one.

I am trying to piece together the Reeves family of Forked River, NJ. I am not a descendant, but a member of my extended Penn family married a Reeve (Lloyd A. Reeve 1885-1963=Clara A. Penn 1882-1980). A number of them are buried at Forked River's Good Luck Cemetery:

Are you still using ancestry.com? Thank you for your kindness in responding to the late Bill Bowen's request. He is my grandfather's first cousin (my mother's maiden name is Bowen). Bill Bowen died in 2002, so he sadly was unable to thank you himself or make use of this information. I have seen photos of Ellen Bowen's headstone and see that she died in 1889, not 1899. That helps me understand why my great grandfather left Texas and moved to Georgia in 1889.

Looking for information on the Salcido family from Reeves. My half-uncle told me that his grand-parents (my step great grand-parents) came from Reeves and were named Avelino and Brigida Salcido.

My step grand-mother's name was Bonefacia Salcido. She married Feliberto Alvarez. They lived in Loraine, Texas.

My uncle has not had contact with his mother's side of the family since she never spoke much about them.

If you have any information on any of these names, it would be appreciated.

I am currently researching Cynthia Mourning, w/o Bright Berry Gentry (f/o Martha Elizabeth Gentry). I noticed you have her also listed with the surname of Moran. I found a Charles Moran somewhere with a Cynthia Mourning Gentry as his widow. I have never seen Cynthia listed like that. If you have any information on Cynthia, would you please share. I found lots of information for Deborah Lanham, w/o Jeremiah Reeves. Her line leads to Scottish Royalty in addition to other royal families. Are you aware of that?

My grandmother was also born at Pera. My understanding is that it is in the vicinity of the restored church that is about 3 miles west of the Balmorhea State Park. There is a house across the draw that used to be a school house. There are a few other buildings in the area. There is an old cemetery on the right after you cross the highway bridge between the Park and the church. There used to be dugout type structures along the creek near the highway bridge but they are almost gone now.
My grandmother's home was about a mile past the church on the left. I do remember hearing stories of Robert Lyles as a cowboy. Apparently he was very talented.

I'm looking for any information regarding a Jail Break in 1943. I found a death certificate of an Elbert Lee MORRIS who was shot in a Jail Break in Pecos, Reeves County, TX.
His death is listed as 7 Mar 1943; I would assume the Jail Break occurred within these few days.

Thank you very much, Mary, for the response and information. We did visit the museum, talked to Debbie and toured the wonderful museum! Apparently, none of the family passed away while they were in Reeves County. We did find that they bought some land out by the old B.F. Goodrich Test Track in 1905 and my wife's father was born in Pecos 1905 according to family stories (have not found a birth record). We did get some photos of the ranch area. The lady at the Reeves Co Library was also very helpful in our search. Thanks again for your help.

My wife and I hope to visit Reeves County in a few weeks and would like to know locations we can research. We want to find her father and uncles birth records, 1910 Federal Census residence legal descriptions and property locations matching Texas Land Abstracts we've found on Ancestry.com. Census and Land Abstracts were in Brewster County but suspect her father may have been born in Pecos,Tx.

Relationship to wife:
Grandfather: Courtney Holstun b.1872 Louisiana (1910 Cen HOH)
Grandmother: Annette Holstun b. 1877 Mo (1910 Cen Wife)

Espy died there between 1920 and 1935. His wife Margaret died there May 11, 1935. Where were they buried? I would like a transcription of their tombstones as well as any further information the cemetery may have.

Seems as though we share the same great grandfather: George B Lyles. My grandmother was Enriqueta Lyles; her father, my great grandfather was Robert E Lyles.
Robert E Lyles (1853 - 1920) and your grandfather John Lyles (1867 - 1841) were brothers.

I believe her first name was Ina. Ina Elizabeth Yarbrough, according to her death certificate, ws born 19 Dec 1888 and died 18 Feb 1974, in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas. Father's name is given as Newton W Yarbrough. Mother's name is unknown. The informant was VERNON ALLEY.

In Beatrow is buried in Restlawn Memorial Park, El Paso, Texas.

Hi Mary,
I have been looking for years for my great grandmother's death certificate. She died in the flu pandemic in Toyah, Texas on Oct. 26, 1918. It is an interesting situation as she left her husband and was living with another man. When she died, she was buried in the Toyah Cemetery in the family plot of the other man whose name was Jesus Garcia. We have pictures of the Garcia plot and monument. The name that she was known by was Leila Paula (Davis) (Myers) (Garcia??).

Jessica Foley is an anomaly. I discovered that the name Foley is being misinterpreted as Flotte. Robert McKnight's oldest daughter married a Frenchman named Louis Flotte. As you know or maybe it's news to you, Robert McKnight had a second daughter out of wedlock, Basilia. Her mother was Candida Trujillo. George B. and Basilia lived at the mining operation in Barranca from 1848 to mid1850s.

Jessie or Jessica is being mixed up with Bessie. That was Basilia's nickname.

The parents of George B. was John. His mother is Isabel. I don't know her maiden name.
