Okay, this is the information I have, none personally confirmed by me.
William Williams was one of at least 4 sons of Thomas Williams and Priscilla Brooks. The family came to Texas ca 1819, reportedly with Chief Bowles and the Cherokee. They settled along the Angelina River and points northeast.
The 1835 census of Texas shows William Williams living in the Williams settlement. Age, 38, wife Lucinda, 25. Children are: Naomi, 7, William, 5; Thomas Jefferson, 3; Russell, 21 months and Mary, 3 months.
The 1850 Rusk Co census shows William, wife, Gerilla, and 7 additional children: Lidia, 14; Gerilla, 11 and Priscilla also 11; Leonard and Leander are both 9; Aditha is 7 and there is an unnamed infant dau, 6 months.
By 1880, William is in Eastland Co, with wife, Cinderella (believe Gerilla is an extraction. Handbook of Texas says William married Cinderella Shaw in 1827) Also in the household is a grandson, Russell, 11. Living next door to William is Young Lafayette Williams.
In 1852, the daughter, Mary, from the 1835 census, married James B. Vardeman in Rusk Co. By 1860, the Vardemans are in Trinity Co. Then I lose everybody! The Vardemans daughter, Sarah, age 7 in 1860 married Andrew Jackson Coats in Nacogdoches Co in 1869.
What happened to James B and Mary Williams Vardeman? I think J. B. took off and Mary probably died but have no proof.
What happened to the William Williams family between 1850 and 1880?
Looking for any information on any of this Williams family and/or Vardemans.
Note: The marriage record on file in the Rusk Co Clerk's office definately says James B. Vardeman and Mary Williams, not John B or even J. B.
Thanks for any info
