In the 10+ years this message was posted, I have come to beleive that Eliza Lucas was married to a Daniel M. Evans not a James or Jim Evans. At the time of my original research, this was just an accepted belief in our family. With research however, I could never find a "James or Jim Evans" that was married to Eliza Lucas or put him in this family. I have located a Daniel M. Evans in Harris Co. Tx. in 1850 that fits this families household:

Robert " 9 M Texas
James " 7 M "
Thos. " 5 M "
Davia " 3 M " (the first letter of this name (Davia) is written over and unclear also the sex is listed as male)
Ed Waller " 1 M "

Even though this was far away from San Augustine Co. Tx, it was just too close a match in this KNOWN family to ignore. I am still searching for absolute proof who Eliza Lucas married.
