Lemuel is the son of Jesse Wise and Sarah Burke. Jesse and Sarah both died in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, which is now part of Shongaloo, Webster Parish, Louisiana.

Lemuel Nathan Wise b. August 4, 1849 in Arkansas d. March 12, 1929 in San Augustine, San Augustine Co., TX. He married, Lucinda Greer abt. 1873, somewhere in TX. She was born in NC. or Alabama abt. 1856. She is listed as living with her parents, Richard and Frances Greer, in Marengo Co., Alabama, in the 1860 and 1870 Census. She died bet. Oct. 1812 and Jan. 1900.In 1900 Census, we find Lemuel, Lucindy, Sarah and young Lucindy living in Johnson Co., just outside Cleburne, TX. In the 1900 Census, we find Lemuel, Widowed, living with Andrew and John Wesley in Montague Co., Justice Precinct 1 (West). All three are listed as day laborers. He worked in the Timber Industry. Children: Sarah E., Lucindy, Andrew & John Wesley.
