I know this reply is several years late but I have a picture of the Eagle Mills School class of 1928. The school was known as Eagle Mills Common School No. 36 and was located between Paxton and Joaquin. The name of the paper has been cut off but included, . . . Shelby County, Texas, Wednesday, August 25, 1976, and was provided by Gene Haley, Sr. The students are identified in order and included Ona Lee Whiddon, Floyd Spurlock, Bonnie Bell Richardson, Era Bell Whiddon, Luther Byerly, Ethel Lilly, Ruby Scott, Zan May and Bailey May. Second row were Alton Sinclair, Hermon Cox, Gladys Whiddon, Fannie Lou Powdrill, Evon Spurlock, Estelle Spurlock, Media Sholar, and Forris Horton, Teacher.
Floyd Earl Spurlock is my father and Evon and Estelle are his sisters. Floyd Earl married my mother, Mildred Watts, in 1933 in Center. We later lived about 100 yards east of old John Day School and an older brother, Robert Earl, and two older sisters, Selma and Mary, and myself attended school there through May 1949. We all attended Willow Grove Church where my Great-grandfather, Marcus DeLafayette Spurlock, and Grandfather, Columbus D. Spurlock, are buried.
But anyway, I thought this may help some even if it is late. This photo shouldn't be difficult to locate.
