Mrs. M. L. Lowry Found Dead in Home Tuesday
Mrs. Minnie Lee Lowry, 81, Breckenrigde resident since 1923, was found dead at her home at 3:45 PM Tuesday by her son Ernest. Justice of the Peace W. H. Hughes ruled death was from natural causes.
Mr. Lowry called his mother several times to check on her condition, although she was apparently in good health during the day Tuesday. When he did not receive an answer to his calls, he went to her home and found her dead. Authorities said she apparently had been dead only a short time.
Mrs. Lowry was born on December 13, 1878 in Galatin, Tennessee. Her family moved to Kentucky to live, and they came to Texas when she was a small child.
She married to Charles H. Lowry in Milford, Texas on December 16, 1896. The couple moved to Fort Worth in 1905 where they were in the dairy business. They came to Breckenridge in 1923, and Mr. Lowry operated a grocery store here before his death on August 13, 1942. Mrs. Lowry was employed at Bender's for many years before the store burned.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Melton Funeral Home. Rev. Edgar Jones, pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George Lowe of Snyder and Mrs. Louie Ray of Fort Worth; one son, Ernest of Breckenridge; two brothers, G.C. Parker of Arthur City, and W.H. Parker of Houston; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
