Hi Don,
Thank your for your post. I have a great deal of family confusion concerning William Green Rogers. Family records show that he first married Cordelia StClair on April 1, 1875 and after having 3 children, left her and married her cousin (Merinda Winnie StClair) on August 2, 1885.

After having 2 more children, (one of which was my GGrandfather, Tilmon Sparks Rogers), he disappeared around 1890 from family records and stories. He was never mentioned during my childhood, but it was know that he was still alive. Merinda StClair lived around Bridgeport, Texas with a ton of other Rogers.

I found a William Green Rogers who later married Amy Hutchinson (around 1890) and I have a few of his children's names listed.

I also have a very old Photograph of William Green Rogers holding 2 children that I would be happy to email you.

I also have a ton of Rogers information from the Merinda StClair marriage, and some information from the Cordelia StClair marriage. I live around Aledo, TX. My email address is lb.lb@sbcglobal.net and would love to hear more.

Thanks,
Larry Barksdale

I am the grand daughter of Jody Burke (grandson of James & Sarah Burke and son of Samuel R. Burke). Jody was born in 1886 in Caddo Mills,Tx. Family lore has it that he had a brother who was killed by being kicked by a horse or mule. Is this any connection to Phillip Burke? However Samuel was born 8-12-1866 so would have been 20 (when Jody was born) and too young to have a son who was married in 1891.

Hi! I do not have any marriage license info or much of anything on Samuel & josephine. Jody (my grandfather) was born July 16th 1886. Our family has known about Walter & Hester through family lore for some time. Samuel & Melvina were married in Sept. 19, 1889. Jody listed in his World War I registration that his parents were Samuel & "Joe". He listed the same info on his social security application. Jody was living with James in the 1990 Census (at age 14)and listed as his grandson. My email address is ladycop2764@msn.com and my name is Wilma Brown.

I am the granddaughter of a Jody Burke who was born in Caddo Mills to Samuel Burke and a Josephine. Samuel had a second marriage,I believe, that Walter and Hester Burke were born into. Family rumor is that Jody had a brother that was killed from being kicked by either a horse or a mule. Could this be Phillip?

My problem was or is the fact that I dont know anything about this stuff and the fact that Bill, (Moms husband) wont do anything about anything since Mom died. Do you realize how much money those wells have generated over the years... It has to be allot of money. I do remember some checks from Arrington drillers out of midland and they stopped all of a sudden and we never saw anything else. I really wish I wold have gotten all the info before Mom died. I know My aunt Joyces kids are having same trouble. You can email me direct at kheatingair@hot.rr.com if you would rather.

Mallie Eska Eggleson was born in Pope County, Arkansas to Sidney Jackson Eggleston and Alice Keeton. She was born in 1890, a year after Sidney and Alice married. In 1894, Alice Keeton Eggleston (I have no Proof) died probably giving birth to Mallie's brother Arthur Eggleston. Sidney Eggleston did not raise these two children. His mother Caroline Gray Eggleston and her other children, mainly, Egbert and Mila Eggleston raised them. Mallie Eska Eggleston married Marvin Pierce Lott, Sr. My grandmother Mallie said that her family treated her well, but that it was not like having your own family. Sidney Eggleston would marry two more time. The second wife I believe was Hattie Eggleston. They had one son James Eggleston who Sidney never saw. I found a Hattie and James Eggleston living with Zachariah Keeton when he was 84 years old. We believe (no Proof) than she was Sidney's first wife--Alice Keeton's SISTER! Sidney Eggleston's third wife was Dovie Dement. They had a large family in Louisiana, around eight children.

On 2 Oct 1942 Constable Henry Clay WALKER attempted to arrest I. D. DAUGHERTY. A struggle ensued and DAUGHERTY shot and killed the constable. I am searching for WALKER's surviving family members, a copy of any newspaper articles, and any other information. The death certificate reports he was buried in Big Valley Cemetery (county difficult to read but may be Hardeman Co). WALKER was born on 17 July 1885 in San Saba County.

Millet Cemetery is in La Salle County, Texas, and that is where your 2nd great-grandfather is buried.
He also is on the 1910 census for Stonewall County. If you will provide your email address, I'll send you a copy. I did not find him either in Stonewall County or anyplace else in Texas in 1920; nor did I find a death certificate for him. Stonewall County was notorious for laxity in filing death certificates, as were many other counties in Texas, in the early years.

Your right, too many kids, but maybe one real crooked kid!! I've kept up with the royalties and have done fairly well over the past 3 years. I had to dig around, but actually found one Midland/Odessa company that wasn't sending royalty payments. They were our money to reinvest in other wells. After months of threatening to file charges, I received a pretty nice check, plus past due interest. I don't know for sure how accurate the payment was, but at least it made me feel better.

Family records indicate that my GGGrandfather, William Green Rogers relocated to Stonewall, County, Tx. He appears in the 1900 census with seven children. He died in 1922 and is buried in "Millet" cemetary in Stonewall County.

Does anyone know where Millet Cemetary is?

Is there an archive of records for deaths in Stonewall County for the 1920's?

The Rogers children were named: Nona, Henrietta, Henry, Bayless, Ruby, Olive Ethel, and Amy Corene. Has anyone come across these names?

Thanks........... Larry Barksdale
