Erma Lee Harrell, age 85 passed from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 in Lubbock.
A wake was held Sept. 28 at Mark A. Jones Memorial Chapel in Brownfield. A celebration of her life was held Sept. 29 at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield with Rev. Michael D. Hudson officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brownfield.
Mrs. Harrell was born on Sept. 1, 1923 to Archie and Mamie Lee Ross in Rowlett. She married Walter Harrell on June 6, 1941 in Eldorado. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1974.
The family of Erma Lee remembers her for being a mother or mama to everyone. She held the family together once her husband passed away and was the backbone of her family. Erma never turned anyone away who was in need and she loved to play dominos. She was a Baptist.
Those left to cherish her memories are nine sons, Stance Harrell of Abilene, Leslie Harrell of Kansas City, MO., Robert Lee McDaniel of Avondale, Ariz., Maurice Harrell, J.W. Harrell, Claude Harrell and Johnny Lee Harrell of Brownfield, Doug Harrell of Levelland and David Harrell of Dallas; 10 daughters, Earlene McMinn and Joyce Harrell of Abilene, Merelene Harrell, Bobbie Wilburn and Ella Flourney of Lubbock, Dorthy Lawerence, Annie Harrell, Frances Williams, Bessie Coe and Leatrice Hines, all of Brownfield; one brother, Willie K. Ross of Fairfield, and one sister, Isabella Merit of Spring.
She also leaves behind 94 grandchildren, 156 great-grandchildren and 96 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four sons and two daughters. Personal services being provided by Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield.
