The place to start is copy of her death certificate which should have both parents names on it. I think they were James Lain and "Liddie" C Lee.

Most of the 1890 census burned in 1921. I have found death certificates of siblings for her and the family of James Edward Swarts. Vera seems to have been born in Erath county but can not find her there nor her sisters Mary A Lain Sikes and Nancy Jane Lain Lawson in the 1900 census.

James/Jim Swarts was in Red River county in 1900 and that is probably where he was born. J. E. Swarts married Vera Lain in Franklin County, Texas 23 July 1908. Unclaimed marriage license in possession of the Franklin Co Gen Society, P O Box 1563, Mt. Vernon, Texas 75457.

James Edward Swarts, born 12 Apr 1888, Texas, registered WW I Draft in Franklin County, Texas, 1917 - 1918, no death certificate found, son of Isaac Frank Swarts and Rhoda May Toms/Thoms/Tomes.

Stephenville is in Erath county west of Titus county by several counties and about 235 miles and find no death record of a Willie or William Lawson in Erath county.

If Vera was the daughter of the Lain family found in Palo Pinto county in 1880 census she had a sister, Nancy Jane who married Adam Granville Lawson in Erath county and sister Mary A Lain born in Titus county 1873 married Will R Sikes in Erath county shortly after Vera was born.

James Monroe Lain born in Erath County in 1871 is listed as being a son of James Lain and mother was Lida Lee, he died in Hagansport, Franklin county, Texas in 1915 and is buried in Talco but not listed in the 1880 census in Palo Pinto county.

Vera Swarts is listed in 1920 census living with sister Nancy Lain Lawson and her husband Granville Lawson in Stephenville, Granville's brother, Willie, born 1892 also living with them.
