Looking for info on Carol Ann. Her mother is Louise Carney, Father is Dennis Nicholson (I have no info on him).
Carol was born in Orange Co. California and died in Tom Green, Texas 1993.
Louise Carney was born in Cherokee, Kansas and died in Tom Green, Texas 1972.
I do not think Carol even knew her fathers side. It is possible that Dennis died in California. Any info on this side of Carol's family would be appreciated.

Armstrong family San Angelo

I am looking for information on the family of Carlos/Carl/Karl E. Armstrong who lived in San Angelo from about 1910 until his death. He and his wife Minnie Eva Scott had 6 children, all of whom lived in San Angelo. The family apparently owned and operated a lumber company there. I have information on all 6 of the children, including the pertinent obituaries posted on the county website on Rootsweb, but I can't seem to find information about burial places. Also, I haven't found a death date for one of the daughters. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me about the following:
Karl E. Armstrong d. 12 Sep 1934. Buried where?
Minnie Eva Scott/Armstrong d. 3 Feb 1963. Buried where?
Karl Scott Armstrong (daughter)b. abt 1901. d. when? buried where?
Sarah Travis Armstrong d. 21 Feb 1987. Buried where?
Frank Blair Armstrong d. 19 Mar 1917. Buried where?
John Armstrong d. 12 Mar 1988. Buried where?
Faustine Armstrong b.c. 1911. Died when? Buried where?
William Harvell(e) Armstrong b. 9 Mar 1910 in Tom Green Co. d. when? buried where? His wife was Jessica Burdohn Brown. According to her obituary, she was buried in the Fairmount Cemetery, so I suspect that other members of this family may also have been buried there.
If anyone else is looking for information on this Armstrong family, I will be happy to share what I know.

John H. Lee who was a dirt track racer in 1924 - looking for descendant

I am trying to find someone who might be related to John H. "Johnny" Lee from Houston, TX who was a dirt track racer in 1924. He raced in Wichita Falls at the Texas and Oklahoma Fair that year and broke a race record and was awarded a silver loving cup. This loving cup has been found in a Houston home and we are trying to return it to a descendant. I found an article in 1929 that says he was living in San Angelo. I then found a death certificate for John Howard Lee who died Dec. 10, 1955 in San Angelo and it says that he was a auto mechanic and garage owner. He lived at 1302 N. Jefferson. I suspect that this is probably the Johnny Lee that I am looking for. I also have a couple of nice articles from the Wichita Falls Times about John Lee that I will give to a descendant also. If anyone can lead me to a living descendant please contact me at neatstuffgifts@aol.com

Julie Coley

Irish immigrant, Patrick Henry GALLAGHER b 1836 came to U.S. 1850 moved to Coryell County, TX where he married Mary Elizabeth WALTERS in 1859 and reared 16 known children. For some reason, he and Elizabeth moved to Water Valley in Tom Green County late in life. He died at Water Valley in 1909. Are there death registers in Tom Green County for this time period ?
I know he is not buried there, for his body was transported back to Coryell County by train and buried a in cemetery on Cow House Creek, later exhumed, when Fort Hood was built. His wife stayed in Coryell.
Have an 1886 letter his sister wrote to him. Know about his descendants, have some of his other sibling's names. Also have GALLAGHER/WALTERS/GOSS family book printed by Bonnie JACKSON for the GALLAGHER Family Reunion held in Fort Worth in 1983. Will share what I have, for additional info.
I found both in the 1910 Census and I guess the house number was 9291 for the REYES and 9292 for the CAVAZOS.
Jose CAVAZOS was married to Dolores( listed as Lola in Census ) Reyes around 1904,I presume in Tom Green Co. Jose was born in Texas and Dolores and her family where born in Mexico. I know that Jose's Father may also have been named Jose CAVAZOS and would have been still in Mexico. Anyone can help me find out more about these families? I mainly resurch the CAVAZOS Family tree. But my Husban'd Grandfathers Middle Name was Reyes after his Mothers Dolores ( Lola) REYES. I knw that the Cavazos Family ended up in CA, but i'm not sure when.
His wife's name was Minnie Maud Mohundro. He was living in Grape Creek at the time of his death. I have been unable to find his parents names or names of siblings. This is the info I would like to have from his obituary. If anyone living in San Angelo could look this up at the library on microfische I'd greatly appreaciate it!!

Wende

William O. White, "Bill", around San Angelo, Texas mid 1920's

Searching for information on a man known as William O. White, aka: "Bill". The O. could be something that sounds like O. Z.

He would have lived in or near San Angelo, at least close enough to drive in on Saturday nights with his brother and best friend, possibly a Melvin or M. A. Young.

He could have been anywhere from 15-30 during this time frame. It's only a guess that he was in his early to mid twenties.
Interview note: "he was young, but he was already married, if I remember correctly he may have had children.

He had friends in San Marcos, TX and McDade, TX. He was an aquaintance of a Mr. Montgomery, who worked in the oil field business, they possibly met in San Angelo.

He was in or near Vero Beach, Fl during the storm of Sep 1926.

He was possibly still living in or near San Angelo in the late 1940's. His mother may have been living with him at this point.

His ancestry may be tied to a man who's picture is supposedly hanging in the court house[?] in San Angelo.
Occupation of sheriff comes up in this area, possibly father or g/father.

Any information would be most appreciated, I'll even take guesses.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

CW

Murder

I am looking for information on a murder that perhaps took place in Tom Green County, maybe between 1920 and 1930. In the 1920 census, Leslie Pryce Shaw is listed as a school teacher in Tom Green County, Justice Precinct No. 5. The story passed down in the family is that Leslie had been threatened by a man who thought Leslie was not treating his son right. The man said if Leslie did not treat the kid better, he would come after him with a gun. One day their paths crossed and Leslie thought the man was going for his gun (turns out he wasn't, he was taking his gun to town to have it sighted/repaired). So Leslie shot him and he died. Leslie was a very smart man, the gun was not found, and he was able to eventually get out of prison. [This event may have taken place in Hale County and I will post to that forum as well. I may be contacted at marc_leclere@yahoo.com].

Does anybody here have recollections or connections to this family? Edgar T. and Eunice B. Proctor were my grandparents and my mother was Billie Edd Proctor Williams.
Eunice remarried after being widowed to Mr. Gann.

Edgar ran a bait stand and lived in the back of it for the longest time. I think they were on O.C. Fisher lake. Edgar died in the early 60's of cancer.
The daughters were Anita, Juanita, Frances, Billie Edd, and Virginia Doris Proctor. There were also Willabelle, Edith, and Howard from Edgar's first marriage. The brothers were Edgar Thomas Proctor, Jr. (called Junior) and John Edward Proctor.
I have the names of several of my cousins, but haven't been able to reach all of them.

I have some information on these families and a few of the members still live in San Angelo, TX and in the DFW area. I've been able to trace the family line back to the late 1700's to Newman Proctor, Sr.

If you have any information, stories, or pictures of this family or their members, please contact me.

Vicki Marsh

I have some correction to the last post I entered here on this board, as I have learned a few new things about the people I am looking for. Willie or Willa Gray Johnson was born 1905 Tom Green Co Tx, she was the daughter of James Wesley Johnson & Annie Dee Houghton of Tom Green County Texas. She first married a man by the name of Lee Harkey. I find no evidences of his birth or death date. I know he died in a horse race in Sheffield Texas. He could have been born around 1902 in Sheffield, after he died Willie remarried a man the family had called Cot, or Cotton Schwalbe, b Feb 6,1902 Texas & died April 1980 Tom Green County Tx. The Texas Birth index shows a daughter born to Austin Lector Schwalbe and Willie Gray roll# 1934_0007, daughters name was Jimmie Dee Schwalbe , b Nov 20,1934 Tom Green Co, Jimmie married Bruce E O'Boyle & had four sons. I have been unable to locate Willie or her husband together in any census or any death records, nothing, nothing at all., I do know that in or about 1949-1950 or so give or take some years Willie owned and operated a nursing home in Sabinal Texas, so she would have been there about that time.........can someone please help me with any tidbit of info that will show this family, many thank yous in advance.

My father was Michael Lamont Olsen. His sister was Carpathia Olsen who married Charles McWilliams and they had 2 daughters (Dorcus and Christi). Edna Estelle (Moorman) Olsen (married to Jack Christian Olsen) was my grandmother (we called her Shug - short for sugar because she was always giving it and asking for it). Anyway, I'm the youngest of Mike and Mary Pickard's 3 children (Terri Lynn, Michael Lamont Jr. and then me) and I'm looking to contact living relatives to continue putting a family history together.

I am trying to verifiy a piece of family tivia. Some time in the past, probably in 1800's, a member of the Green family moved to Texas. This person became a sherriff. In the course of his duties he had to hang a relative for stealing horses. This relatives was either his son or father. If anyone can verifiy this let me know please. If the Green name is wrong but the info is correct let me know also. Thank you.

This lady was born in 1914 and now lives in San Angelo. My Christmas card to her was returned. Does anyone know if she has died in the past year? The correct address on Southland Blvd. still shows up in my search engine. Her maiden name is Shaw and she was the daughter of Delbert William Shaw and Mary Landis Cox. She was married to Leonard Wade Busby and had three girls. The first two died at birth but the other is still living. Her name is Amy Patricia and she married Maurice Charles Kernion.

Looking for an Obit and possibly a picture of William O [Ozie?] White born abt 1905 in TX(?). His parents were born in Ark. according to his 1930 census for San Angelo, Tom Green Co, TX. His wifes name is Ida(?).

I have heard that there is a picture of him (or his father?) hanging in the courthouse, may have been with law enforcement. Is it possible for someone to take a picture of it if it is there? Would be glad to compensate you for your time.

I know he had at least one brother and a friend M.L. or Melvin Young that were in San Angelo area in 1925-26; I found an ML a couple of pages away from WO in the 1930 census. I would also like to have the obit for Melvin(?) L. Young if possible he was also born about 1905 in AR. Wonder if there was a family relationship between them?
