Thanks for the reply. I have limited info prior to Matthew and Sally. Their children included Arthur Hudson Yarrington ( my great-grandfather) Clara who married Tom Cullingworth, Harvey S who married Alberta Alexander and Peyton R, who died. I find Sallie living with John Lester (father?) and James Lester (brother?) on 1850 and 1860 census. 1850 Richmond census shows Matthew W, and Caroline C Yarrington and Elena P Yarrington living in same boarding house. One possibility I want to explore is whether Matthew W's parents are James Yarrington and Martha V Shields; Martha's age was attested by Matthew W Shields when they married in 1819. Matthew was born 1820; I thinks Harvey's middle name may be Shields. Arthur /Mary Yarrinton named oldest son Lester Riggle Yarrington for his two grandmothers Sallie Lester and Mary Riggle so there was family precedent for passing on names.
