G. S. McAlister
People of the county were shocked and saddened Tuesday morning when the news came that G. S. McAlister of Gulf Pump Station was suddenly stricken about 8 o'clock Monday night. Mr. Mc Alister was in Woodville Monday night. Apparently in good health. He had gone some little distance from his home to milk his cow and as he stepped on to the back porch with milk and pail he fell dead. George Smith McAlister was born in 1887, in Tyler county, son of Smith and Susan Watts McAlister. He married Miss Lena Barclay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.James Barclay. He is survived by his wife and two childrenMrs. Archie Snoad of Ellington Field and Charles Gene of the home. Rev.Funderburk of Chester was in charge of the services Tuesday at 4 o'clock in charge at the cemetery at the Mt. Zion church and cemetery. Mr. McAlister is also survived by two half-sisters, Mesdames W. A. Harrison of Houston, D. W. Rhodes of Woodville and one half-brother Bingham McAlister of Livingston. Sincere sympathy is felt for the sorrowing family. Many from this community attended the funeral.
His mother, Susan Watts McAlister was the daughter of Hiram and Laurenda George Hardy Watts. She was first md. to a Peters (probably G. L.), then to A. S. McAlister, then to J. S. Parsons. She is buried at Pilgrim Rest Cem. According to tombstone G. S."s wife was Lele S., b. 17 Mar. 1890, d. 22 Feb. 1957.)
