Services for James Harold "Friday" Cheser, 86, Grand Saline were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 33, at First United Methodist Church, Grand Saline with Rev. Chrles Jordan officiating. Burial was in Woodside Cemetery under direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline. Mr. Cheser died November 20, 1998 in a Tyler hospital.
He was born August 27, 1912, in Grand Saline, to the late Jim and Ardie McCoy Cheser. He served in the Navy Seabees during WWII. He lived most of his life in Grand Saline and worked as a mail carrier there, as well as in Fruitvale. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Grand Saline, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Chapter 1269, and an amateur ham radio operator. he was preceded in death by his wife Waldene Lynch Cheser in 1994.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Anthony "Tony" Cain, Whitehouse; two grandchildren, Brett Cain, San Marcus and Jim Cain and his wife, Tricia, Whitehouse.
Pallbearers were John Land, Bud Milam, John Rash, Leland Curry, Ferd Maciel and Connie Tomlin. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Campbell and Joe Hancock.
