Surnames: Meador, Taylor
I can't find the birth cert for Robert Bernard or RB Meador b. 8 July 1905, Grand Saline, Van Zandt Co. His parents were James and Jesse Taylor Meador. Where do I go to find this birth cert?

I've contacted the State and they don't have it on file. Did the counties or cities keep copies of these early birth certs? THANKS in advance.

The 1910 census finds him in Justice precinct a son of Ruby and Almena, born about 1906.

I also find a James T and Jessie P Meador having a son Claude in Texas:

Maybe one of these will help, or try GOOGLE

If the State doesn't have it, I'd try contacting the County. Call the Courthouse.

I'd try someone in the local area, I'm in Washington State and don't exactly know anything about Texas research

Texas law requiring filing of birth's and death's began 1903, not enforced for years. Robert probably did not have a record until he became an adult and filed delayed birth. Below is link to the Texas Dept of State Health Services, all filings go to Austin.

Most cities and counties will not have records from that time as folks just did not run to the courthouse as most were born at home. SS death index indicates Robert Meador filed for his social security # while resident of Ohio and last residence per ss was in Seattle. His application to obtain SS # will have parent's names on it, where they were from, completed by Robert Meador.

James Meador must have died not long after Robert was born as "Jessie B or Jennie B" Taylor remarried about 1908 in Michigan to Wm N Miner of Canada.

HI, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. This is an amazing amount of info. I have to admit I never thought about delayed birth cert. I should have though because my Mom was born in 1913 but didn't get a birth cert issued until World War II. Grandma found that several of the other children's births hadn't been recorded by the doctor that came out to the farm too. J

Hi, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! This took so much of your time and effort. I'll have to go through it all. I have to admit I never thought about a delayed birth cert.

PDSAIN did an excellent job in finding facts, but NOT ONLY in finding facts. This researcher not only used common sense in KNOWING the history of this scenario, also thinking about those sites that might have answers, but also CHECKED those sites for REAL information. This researcher does not just use a shotgun approach and provide a quick GUESS about "possible" links, but makes sure the facts fit the scenario. PDSAIN is an EXCELLENT teacher and genealogy researcher.

When a researcher helps someone they MUST have common sense to know that the help given FITS the search being requested. One CAN NOT just tell someone to check some Museum site when in fact that site is ONLY A MUSEUM and NOT a genealogy research site. Links MUST be checked and verified.

One MUST know about HISTORY. A genealogist must use history not only locally but world history to study possible scenarios. PDSAIN used knowledge in this case.

A researcher can't say someone must be married or dead based on a guess. Genealogy is about FACTS not GUESSES, not SHOTGUN approaches to something that is NOT COMMON SENSE. Because someone can't be found from one census to another, does NOT mean the person died.

A true genealogy reseacher doesn't just suggest a link. They PROVE the method works and FINDS information so that the original poster LEARNS, not only the facts, but HOW the research is done and PROOF that it works. This teaches the NEXT generation of knowledgeable researchers.

My suggestions to you in this search were, as you know, the shotgun approach, as given sooooooo many times by that person in Wenatchee to MANY others. This approach not only has failed, as I have proven over the past, but probably also resulted in the original poster becoming FRUSTRATED when they tried the given links. Thus, the MANY that did not respond to the "assistance" given. One can NOT take a "Thank You" as self gratification. This "Thank You" must have provided someone with an answer AND a method for future research.

If a genealogy volunteer tries to work without common sense and bases suggestions only on GUESS and with substantial proof in the method, that volunteer should NOT be helping others in their research. While I, and many others have tried to make this point succinct to you, I sincerly hope that in this case it SINKS IN. If I knew of a doctor that heard a patient complain their foot hurt, suggested to have a hand removed, I would object. In this case, the scenario is the same. If a volunteer suggests over and over to many posting of a certain remedy, if that remedy has nothing to do with the research, that volunteer MUST be silenced.

As always, I will continue to inflict a proper remedy in an effort to silence a quack "doctor".

J,

I failed to note that I could not find transcribed marriages for Franklin and Warren counties, KY. Since Ms. Taylor was 15 when she married James Meador, there may have been a consent form of some type giving permission for the marriage. I highly suggest you obtain her death certificate in hopes there is information as to her parents names if you desire to gain additional information on her lineage.

Good Luck, Paula Sain
