I am distracted by my daughter's upcoming wedding and I have not spent much time on this lately. However, I printed out your reply and I noticed a name of great interest on the 1850 census. The name is Thomas Chambers (laborer). My aunt Ollie Mae (oldest daughter of Mattie Bunch Gordon) married Olan Chambers. This shows me what you said about following the neighbors' census as well as your own family is absolutely true.
Thanks so much!
Martie (namesake of Mattie Bunch) [Martha]

Census and death records confirm your conclusion. I wasn't part of the original discussion and am not related. There were only "two more boys": Emmett and Prentice Glen. In addition, there were two daughters: Annie Mae and Lillian Aileen. Your tree does not include Lillian and Prentice? Lookup online death certificate at https://familysearch.org/ for Annie Mae Hall (16 Nov 1898 - 15 Jul 1966). Lookup findagrave memorial for the parents in Van Zandt County. Both died prior to 1920 thus the mother's death, (26 Nov 1960), you've posted is the wrong person. Prentice enlisted during WWII while residing in New Mexico. Lillian Aileen/Aline is difficult! Thought she married Asa Oliver Lasseter but findagrave memorial, Mississippi, has different parents.

this is quite an old thread -- hopefully someone is still around. i believe emmett evans read was one of the "three more boys" referenced in the message -- but i'm searching for confirmation. EER died in 1918, swine flu. his son was emmett lee reed (respelled), and two more daughters, all passed.

mark reed
california

My goodness, you are good! And yes I can bake, anything you want.I cannot believe you found all that in one night. I've been working on this for a month steady.I've talked to my sister Sarah more in the last month than I have in a years. She was drawing blanks too.All of My Mom's siblings are gone Cora out lived 6 of her kids, so sad. I was really close to her, spent most of my summers with her as a young girl. She never talked about her childhood. She married a man when my mom was 13yrs old, and chose him over her kids, My mom and younger brother "Doc" was kicked out of his house .They went to live with thier sister Lavena, Mom said she was nothing but a slave to her sister.Too much information? I guess you can see why family wasn't talked about much. Thanks for letting me ramble. You are so kind and helpful.

Gonna need tons of teacakes to recover!(lol)

Let's see if I can get "back on track"? John Wesley Reece's parents were William A. Reece and Sarah E. Cagle. The parents wed ca. 1860 possibly in Cherokee, GA? View 1870 GA-Cherokee-Woodstock-Image 21 for: William Reece(33), Sarah E.(31), *John(6), Mary L.(3), and "Lousky" J.(5/12). Next, 1880 GA-Cherokee-Hickory Flat-025-Image 5 find: William Reece(44), Sarah(38), John(18), Mary(12), Jane(10), Dennis(8), Hattie(5), Charles(3), and Mary(1). So many kids they had to repeat "Mary"!(lol) View 1900 GA-Cherokee-Hickory Flat-District 0014-Image 2 for: William A. "Ruce"(65), Sarah E.(62), Hettie E.(25), Charles C.(23), Martha L.(21), and Willie(13). At this point, John was already in Texas. However, he wasn't the only sibling to relocate. Lookup death certificate Mary Lucinda Epperson (8 Jun 1867 - 12 Mar 1943). You indicated kinship to the King surname? Howard H. King was the informant on William Henry Reece (4 Feb 1887 - 13 Nov 1947) death certificate. William Henry was Dolphus' oldest brother. I have not researched the King-connection, yet!

Ardie Eugene Reece's death certificate is online at https://familysearch.org/ He did indeed die of a gunshot wound but it was listed as "accidental". You've interrupted my thought pattern(lol). Since I'm old, I'll need to regroup! C. J. Gantt wed Minnie Cumby, 6 Aug 1896 in Van Zandt. Notice the alternate spelling with double "t". View 1900 Van Zandt-Owlet Green-District 0134-Image 6 for Cas "Garrett"(32)[actually Cass Gantt], Minnie(24), and Cora(1). Next, 1910 Van Zandt-Precinct 6-0117-Image 13 find "Casy" J. Gantt(42), Minnie L.(34), Cora L.(11), Bobbie L.(8), Horace(5), and Andrew(3). Lookup death certificates: Minnie Lee Gant (31 Jul 1874 - 9 Feb 1957), Bob L. Gant (2 Jan 1902 - 12 Aug 1937), Horace Gant (4 Aug 1904 - 2 Jul 1937), and Andrew Gant (28 Apr 1907 - 9 Mar 1976). Small family 'cause Cass Jackson Gant evidently died prior to 1920. That's based on 1920 Smith-Garden Valley-District 95-Image 10. Find: Mrs. B. Gant(45) and widowed with Robt(18), "Landrum"[actually Andrew](15), and Horace(12). Andrew and Horace ages are reversed. Begin research of these Gant(s) 1870 Upshur-Precinct 4-Image 49 and 1880 Henderson-Fincastle-035-Image 22. Look for David Gant/Gantt.

1.) Unable to verify marriage date/place. Estimating they married 1910-1917 based on birth record of eldest child found: Ross Reece [27 Apr 1918 - 28 Apr 1918]. Dolphus and Cora were still under their parents' roofs in 1910. Logon https://familysearch.org/ and setup a "free" user account. That's necessary to access/print death certificates. Also, become familiar with findagrave.com 'cause state law restricts access to Texas Death Certificates for 25 years after the event. In birth order: Minnie Luvenia Preston (21 Sep 1919 - 2 Mar 1965), Ervin Lee Reece (20 Dec 1921 - 9 Aug 1988), Grady Reece (15 Jan 1924 - 6 Dec 2002), Ardie Eugene Reece (4 Feb 1926 - 7 May 1945), Hazel, Doris Imogene Reece (5 Sep 1933 - 13 Nov 1935), and Adolphus Reece (24 Aug 1936 - 6 Oct 2000). 2.)
Please select a "starting point"? There's very little on your tree but an awful lot of info to research. Do you wish to start with surname Reece/Reese? If so, Adolphus aka Dolphus Carmichael Reece (27 May 1892 - 20 Jul 1936) died in Kaufman County. His parents were John Wesley Reece (11 Jul 1864 - 23 Dec 1942) and Indiana Luline (nee: Cagle) Reece (24 Dec 1865 - 31 Aug 1954). At least eleven children were born to this couple and survived childbirth! Get a feel for what I mean by "awful lot"? Tell me what you want?

You may need to update that account? Familysearch has evolved over the years. I preferred the betasearch format but it was replaced by the current system. The earlier version had fewer problems but required more precise info. Setup a completely new account with username and password. Too, if your computer is not equipped with the newest version of javascript no information will be retrieved.

Tons of experience! Mrs. Gladys Clark was informant on Eustace's death certificate. After you've setup the user account, start from familysearch's homepage. Enter Eustace Peyton Swindall then click highlighted "Death". Enter Texas in "Death Place" box then click "Search". Select the record(s) with a small camera in the left border.

Logon https://familysearch.org/ and setup a "free" user account. You'll need that to access/print Texas Death Certificates--not required for general searches. From the homepage, enter Swindall in the "Last Names" box. Click highlighted "Marriage". Enter Kaufman, Texas in "Marriage Place" box. Click "Search".

Her son (E.P.Swindall) is my great grandfather and I remember his death. I suppose my grandmother--his oldest daughter, with whom he was living when he died--would have reported the information (Mary Ella Swindall Clark) and I can see how that might have gone a little astray.

You are finding so much so fast---how do you DO THAT!!?

And thank you!
