The above names are the officers and enlisted men of Company G of the 7th Texas Mounted Volunteer Cavalry Regiment from Walker County in 1861 who marched off that year to go fight Yankees. This outstanding cavalry regiment participated in many victories, won several commendations and was noted as an excellent mounted fighting unit. My gggrandfather GW Hashaw was a private in this cavalry regiment. His widow Elizabeth Johnston-Hashaw remarried Elisha Andrews after his death and is buried in Walker County's Clapp Cemetary. I am looking for information on the Hashaw family, as well as Johnston, Guynes, Whittington, Odom, Thornton, Tullos, Jordan and Vinzant.
