We are researching an old landmark halfway between Gonzales and San Antonio known as the '40 mile water hole. It was in heavy use in the early 1800's, but the water in Ecleto creek has dried up. There are remains of an old well and a short section of road. Legend has it that there were indian and Mexican raids in the early 1800's, but we cannot find anyting in writing about the incidents.
Thanks for your help.
