Gussie Mearl Tucker

I am looking for Gussie Mearl. She is a cousin of mine. She was the daughter of Bunie Howard Tucker and her stepmother was Inez Bryson Tucker. She would be about 76 now. She is probably living in Mineola Texas as her dad and step-mom had a truck stop there in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Her dad died about 1971. He step mom died about 1990. Would just like to say hi. Civil War book and Wood County

I am currently several chapters into writing a book about the 22nd Texas Infantry (aka Hubbard’s Regiment).

Since Wood County provided many of its soldiers, it is important to accurately document the families and the towns they called home.

I am looking for extra stories about the personal lives of soldiers, photos, etc …. If there is specific info you would like included, please let me know.

Any suggestions regarding contacts or information for research would be greatly appreciated. I intend on including A LOT of information about all its soldiers

Finally, if you are a direct descendant of a soldier in Hubbard’s Regiment, I will include your photo and info.

Of course, all submissions will be credited in the text of the book.

My families are from this area, Wood/Rains/Franklin counties. I was born in Hopkins Co.

Anderson/Horne Family Tree owned by kellya0627 says Clementine died 31 Dec 1914 born Jan 1885 Wood Co ? dtr of Nathaniel Marion Ross 1852 - 1945 and Catherine Graff 1858 - 1905. Several other trees listed date of death 31 Dec 1914 providing no details of where or burial.
There is no recorded state record of her death.

Either the data is incorrect on how many children Trudie Clementine Ross had or she and T J Holmes divorced and she had two more children with some else. Who was Alvin Biggs ? I do not find him in any directory listings. In any event something happened to Trudie Clementine Ross Holmes after Rudy Bee Holmes was born in 1913 and before 1918.

I am doing some research on the Holmes family and find myself stuck. Thomas Jefferson Holmes and Clementine Ross Holmes were husband and wife. I don't know hardly anything about Clementine Ross Holmes and am trying to find out more.

I have Clementines birth as 1890 in Wood County, Texas. She died sometime after having their last child in 1913 and before 1920 when her family appears as widowed on the 1920 census:

There's not enough info in your posting or family tree to research with certainty! Suggest you logon https://familysearch.org/ and setup a "free" user account. Once completed, start from the homepage and click highlighted "Birth". Enter Wood Texas in "Birthplace" box. Click highlighted "Parents" then enter surname Beavers in the mother's box. Click "Search" and review records for possible kinship. After exhausting those records, return to the site's homepage. Click highlighted "Death" then enter Wood Texas in "Death Place" box. Click highlighted "Parents" and enter surname Beavers for the mother. That'll retrieve records not found on the earlier search. Note informants on death certificates then research to learn their descendants. OBTW! That area has to be one of the most scenic in all of Texas! I'm a transplanted Texan from Morris County and my brother and several cousins attended Jarvis Christian College.

Just joining Ancestry site and it looks as if your request is quite old from 2005--but-- if your still interetsed in information on the Endsley's in Kalamazoo Michigan I may be able to help-- although they appear to be very distant relatives of yours and perhaps not that helpful to you. My father was Jay Garthe Endsley, born 1939 passed 1998. My dad had a brief first marriage that was a long held secret to my sister and I-- but my search for this record has been a complete dead end. Harry Lee Endsley was my grandfather, born Jan 1904 in Kalamazoo and passed in 1954 I think in Detroit-- and-- as you indicated was a great great great uncle of yours. His father was a J G Endsley, from Kalamazoo MI--and I believe that his father was a James K Endsley--although I am not certain of that. Anyway--best of luck to you and have a great New year

What's wrong? Emily's first husband, James A. Boyd, was brother of Susan (Hillary's first wife). Proving that will be nearly impossible because of a fire in Upshur County Courthouse in 1880s.

Thank you. Today I located a death certificate for Pauline from her granddaughter, who didn't know she had it. I had found the SSDI record that you mention, but wasn't sure if it was her or not because the birth date was wrong. I was also unsure if she had married again or not. The Social Security Death index birth date is probably a typo error or error on the part of the person who filled out the paperwork. I have found her burial location and put her in findagrave and requested a tombstone photo by a volunteer.

Thank you for the information on Joe Ben King, I believe I have a lead on where he might be living currently. Again, thanks for replying....I was hoping to reach a relative, if possible.

She's linked to SSDI (12 Jun 1916 - 1 Jan 1994) with last benefits in Dallas, Pauline King. His siblings are difficult to research. Joe Ben King wed Viola F. Casper, 7 Jul 1981, in Gregg County. However, they divorced 25 Mar 1982, in Upshur County. No children found for this couple. No marriage/kids found for William Don King. Too many Joy Maxine Davis to authenticate.

I am trying to locate information on Eva Pauline Robinson; daughter of John Independence Robinson and Lillie Gertrude Bailey. Pauline Robinson was born 4 June 1916 in Pittsburg, Camp Co, TX and had siblings Howard Edward, Lorene, Jessie and Hubert. Pauline married first Morris Miller, Sr and gave birth to Morris Miller, Jr. in 1934 in Camp County, TX; they were divorced in 1938 in Arkansas. By 1945 she is married to Jessie Willard Davis and has a daughter in 1946 Joy Maxine Davis. By 1950 is divorced from Davis and married to Joseph Houston King and has son Joe Ben King in 1951 and William Don King in 1952; Pauline and King are divorced in 1971. I believe Pauline married at least one other time and is probably deceased. I need to know when she died and where she is buried. Please verify Claude Capperton Russell belongs with this family? Methinks it should be Claude Wortham Russell born 4 Aug 1886 per WWI Draft Registration. Married Bula LNU and had one namesake son. Probably died prior to 1930, 'cause wife remarried surname Phillips? Remove "Mae". That's Mack Cecil. Artie F. Creamer (22 Sep 1908 - 1 Apr 1986) buried Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce, Hunt County. Joseph Russell (CA Death: 30 Oct 1887 - Dec 1976) died in Kern County.

Believe Dewey Camp (29 May 1898 - Feb 1984) is the correct descendant?

I have Jesse Pugh in my line who live in Wood County. I have found most of the early residents from Wood County were buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery which is about a mile or two from Coke. You might try looking there.

What paper did you find the obit in? I will be happy to check the local newspaper for you. Maybe they can help.\

HOPEWELL CEMETERY – At intersection of FM 515 and FM 1643 between Winnsboro and Coke, go south on FM 1643 .1 mile, turn east 1 mile. Cemetery is on south side of road.

Redwine/McGee from Mississippi to Wood County Texas

I have ancestors from Wood County, Texas and the sorrounding area with the surname Redwine. Many of them were former slaves that orginated in Mississippi and were taken to Texas prior to the Civil War. My 4th Great-Grandmother Lucy (possibly Lucinda or Lucille) b. abt 1830 Tennessee had the surname Redwine though I'm unsure if it was a maiden or married name She had at least 6 children; I've been able to find 4:

Horace Redwine b. abt 1853 in Texas, married Caline or Carline Garrett and had about 8 children. After his death about 1899 Caline remarried to John Bailey.

Manda or Mandy Redwine b. abt 1855 in Texas married Noah Gunter, and had about 5 children. I find the family living on Wood, Texas in 1880, but no trace of them beyond that.

Louisa McGee/daughter of Jerry McGee (my 3rd Great-Grandmother) was born abt 1862 in Van Zandt, Texas, and married Robert Rodgers around 1880. They had 9-10 children. They moved from Wood County, to the Chickasaw Nation/Present Day Oklahoma and lived in Carter County until I lose track of them in 1920, I cannot trace them beyond then.

Jasper Mcgee/son of Jerry McGee, born abt 1860 near Van Zandt County, Texas. He married Lula Jones in Wood County, Texas in 1889; the had 8 known children.

OK, this is interesting...it may be Richard Dean's first wife...any more info attached to her listing?

I'm working on a theory, which no one else in the family has recorded, that Richard had an early marriage with one child born.

The woman was Callie Turlington, but I have her death date as Jul 25 1888 and you show it as 1883. Since the daughter was born in 1884, I'm thinking this is a typo in your information.

Any other Turlington's listed nearby?

My great-great-grandfather, Richard Green Reed, settled on land for which the land office shows his name (R. Reed) in 1872.

From that time and back, before 1856, that parcel is immediately adjacent to a parcel that belonged to Susannah Sanders (S. Sanders).

I am hoping to determine the precise relationship between S. Sanders and R. Reed, which almost certainly is through Reed's wife, Nancy Catherine Sanders. It would also be nice to learn how Susannah acquired the land.

The only George Brown Morgan to register for WWI Draft in Mississippi was born 7 Dec 1888 in Sandersville, MS. His father was Gaines George Morgan (1 Jul 1863 - 22 Dec 1948). His mom was Matilda LNU who died prior to 1920. Verify your research 'cause I only see two children born to George Brown Morgan. This took place in Jones, MS 1900-1930.

You're welcome to browse my tree, as it is public. My Morgans came from Newberry, SC, and settled in Itawamba (later Lee) county, MS. Sarah Elizabeth--went by Elizabeth--Morgan married James W. Merchant in Newberry. In about 1846 or so, they migrated to MS.

They moved to Mississippi when he was about 24 years old. I haven't been abe to find a link to this Morgan branch, in spite of George having abour 10 children. There was a convict camp at Alba, Texas. Alba is in precinct 2. The prisioners were used to work in the coal mines. This was one of the largest coal producing areas in Texas. I know there was also a cemetery for the prisioners.
That is about all I know about the camp.

I am looking for information on a convict camp in Wood co., TX. A family member (from Alabama) was listed on the 1880 Federal Census under Precinct 2, Convict Camp, Wood Co. TX. He was listed as a convict guard with head of household Sgt. Jeff Kelley. Does anyone have information on the camp or Sgt. Kelley. My relative is buried in Alabama. Unknown if he died in TX or AL. These Burts are vexing! Velma Beatrice Amos/Harvey Skinner had Dorothy Annene (4 Jan 1928) and Unnamed female (27 Feb 1931). Velma Beatrice Amos (23 Oct 1900?[1899] - 15 Feb 1974) and Harvey Skinner (14 may 1898 - Apr 1983). Unable to find them in 1930 with kids.

Thought I had a "breakthrough"? Jno S. Amos wed Allie Burt 22 Dec 1898 in Wood County. That was John William Steven Amos and Alice Burt, Mattie's young'un! Find them 1900 Wood-Precinct 2-District 140-Image 24. That's all there is for everyone except John! He died 11 May 1941 in Wood County.

It's been a while since I've worked with the Padgett records. I'd imagine I used the Texas death index on Ancestry, and find-a-grave. I'm going back over the records for all of the kids of James W. Merchant, so I'll take your suggestions to heart.

Most of what I have, I really owe to other people, especially folks at historical and genealogy societies. And I'm not bashful about sending a message to a total stranger to ask if someone on their tree might be someone I'm looking for. Would you believe that all I had when I started was my husband's father's name and date of birth/death, his father's name (James M.)and James's second wife's first name. I also had the names of my husband's aunts and uncles, but nothing else. That all came from my husband's father's obituary and funeral book. What a journey!
