Designation "Number exists*, Death F" in Texas Birth Index

Many people have been confused by the designation "Number exists***, **Death F" in the Father's Name Field in the Texas Birth Index.

I emailed the Texas Department of State Health Services and according to them:

This designation is actually **DEATH FILE NUMBER EXISTS***, and it means that the baby was deceased. At the time that the birth certificate was data entered, the only way to make the notation in the electronic record that the baby was deceased was to enter this in the father’s name fields. The actual birth certificate will show the name of the father if that information was available, and the birth certificate will be stamped "DECEASED."

This format is outdated, however, and no longer used.

Note: Several people have pointed out to me that Texas has made mistakes with this designation, so use good judgement and further research when you see this designation in the Index.

I've sent them for the second time. Subject will read "Dunkle certificates attached". It may be that "hotmail" can't open them I don't know. If you have trouble opening them, or just don't get them, for whatever reason - I can print off copies for you but will need a SASE from you for mailing.
I am going to send you a "trial" email from my personal address - see if you get it. Reply to it and I'll put certificates in an attachment back to you again for a third time. Subject from me will read "trial email".

My G-G-Grandfather came to Zavalla County in the 1880's from Atascosa County along with son in law G.W. Day. Family and other sources say that Christopher Columbus McKinney was a Justice of the Peace, Postmaster, StockHearder, and farmer in Zavalla County. Could anyone provide a good source for the Justice of the Peace job or an email address for the county clerk?

I am John Crawford Hipp's granddaughter. My mother is Ouida Fay Hipp Hasten, she passed away in 2002. Friday evening, March 7, my aunt Betty Jo Hipp Hasten passed away at the age of 79. We buried her in Carrizo Springs on Tuesday and I had the honor of getting reaquainted with many Hipp/Barker family members. Guess that's why I'm on this sight.
My mother's cousin, Jimmie Lee Barker Anderson, is the oldest member still living (as far as I know) and she is very feeble now, but still lives in her husband's family mansion(Bel Asher) in Asherton, TX.
I probably have most of the info you're missing about the families. I'd love to hear from you and see how far you've got. verbaceo@hotmail.com

I am looking for an Obit on Samuel C. Dunkle born 9 June 1851 PA and died 1934 Crystal City, TX and wife Virginia A. Dunkle born 4 Feb 1853 Missouri and died 19 Feb 1938 Crystal City, TX. Both are buried in the Edgewood Cemetery. Have been unable to obtain a good death date on Samuel. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I am looking for information on the John Crawford Hipp family. John (b 1895 d 1963) was married to Nora Lou Barker (b 1895). Their children were Rachel, Crawford, J.D., Mary Francis, Betty Jo, Ouida Fay, and Virginia Lou. The last four were born in Zavala County between 1926-1936. I found a Margaret Rachel Hipp married a Tellus Goodsell Hasten. Mary Francis married a W. G. Barton.
I am also looking for information on James Ray Barker family. He is a brother to Nora Lou. He married John's sister Margaret. James was born 1897 and died 1974. Their children were Jennie Lee, Dale, Elizabeth, and Patricia Sue.

I am looking for my half sister. She was born 1/23/53 in Buffalo, NY to Dolores and Edwin Traub. She lived with the Panek family in Hamburg, NY from 1954 - 1960. William Wheeler Blackstone was my father and I have been looking for several months for someone who can help me find more about my grandfather and grandmother. My name is William Robert Blackstone and I was born in Opelika on 17 Nov 1936. My parents, Wheeler and Trixie, were living in Lafayette at the time. In January 1940 they moved to Crystal City, TX where Trixie's parents had moved in the early '30's. My sisters, Linda Marilyn and Sharon Rebecca, were born there. We moved to Uvalde, TX in 1948. I can furnish information on me, my siblings, their children, and their grandchildren if you are interested.

Rosa Burroughs was my grandmother. However, I never knew her as she died in 1911. My grandfather then married Ista Bartlett, who was the "Granny" I knew from our vacations in Lineville during the '40's.

I would like to know where both Leroy Blackstone and Rosa Burroughs are buried. Also, I would like any information on Leroy's siblings and on any other living descendents.

Granny KELLOGG was a BASS. ~1900 - 1960 DIMMIT, ZAVALA Counties.

Granny Kellogg was a Bass. Ora May BASS KELLOGG married Frank Ray KELLOGG, Carrizo Springs DIMMIT County. He dug wells. He died about in the 60s, both probably born 1900ish. Frank Ray Kellogg dug wells all around Carrizo Springs, Crystal City areas.

Two of Ora May's children were Donald and Lela Belle KELLOGG. Lela Belle's second husband was Jesse "Jack" (Howard or Henderson) THOMSON (Jr?). Well, his dad was Jessie "Jack" Henderson THOMSON but somehow it turned out that this Jack was Jack Howard. Go figger. They're all Jessies called Jack or Jackie. Don KELLOGG died in BANDERA County, Lela Bell KELLOGG THOMSON in San Antonio.

Jack of the outhouse tooth was a WWII Navy Seabee. Had a solid gold Texas star right in his front tooth. He took his Lela Belle and JoNell, Maxine, and little Jackie down to Guadalajara in the 1950s, working for the government (ours or theirs?) killing off livestock during that anthrax epidemic. Back and forth, they lived in San Antonio BEXAR. Those THOMSON Jesses have McHUGH back there somewhere, and right now I'm not but what a DONALDSON, too, but which fits where has gone confusing. Maxine's got that tooth, too. There might be more I'm not tellin'. Yet.
