Any information appreciated for name "Eileen McElvain" not sure of spelling of first name. She was born 26 Sept. 1913 in Ysleta, TX. The family lived there - father Floyd D. McElvain, mother - Clara Ella Van Laningham McElvain. Eileen was a twin. Her sister's name was Aleen Sylvia. Eileen died at 4 mos. old of a bowel obstruction. John Walter Reese,born June 3,1879,died Dec.11,1919 in El Paso,was taken to Colorado Co.,TX for burial with his family-memorial etc. on findagrave.com
There is a birth record for "Sela Herberta Reese" born Aug.20,1913 in El Paso to this couple-names being a subjective thing on all records-possible.
Taking that birth date, there is a "Lola R.Smart",who died in AZ on Oct.10,1998; with that married name, the 1940 census in CA, Lola R.Smart-born in TX,living in Phoenix in 1935,new husband James S.Smart-he being James Shirley Smart Jr. There is also record of Lola R.Smart enlisting in the women's service in CA-WWII.
Worth checking into!
You might contact the Arizona State Library and Archives for an obit search for either Lola Smart to confirm if she is the right person, or Ethel Guilfoyle for more info;if one is located, they are pretty speedy at supplying you with copies.

Looking for any information about the maternal grandparents of BETTY CARROL GUILFOYLE, who was born in El Paso 12 Oct 1922. Betty would marry Earl Lee Bimson of Phoenix in 1946. Her father was Calvert Thomas Guilfoyle, b. 1887 in Philadelphia. Her mother was Ethel, maiden name unknown. Calvert Guilfoyle was a veterinarian with the U.S. Army, stationed in El Paso. He and Ethel would have married sometime between late 1920 and early 1922. It may have been Ethel's second marriage, as she had a daughter, Lola Reese Guilfoyle, b. 1914 in El Paso, which was long before Calvert lived there. As Lola's middle name is cited in the 1930 Census as Reese, I suspect Ethel's first husband may have had that name. Hoping someone has additional information about Ethel and her family. A recent contact by Shirleys ex husband R M Proctor, says her maiden name was mis-stated in this obituary and is actually Nobles. She was the dau of Wm and Mary Nobles who in 1940 lived in Hutchinson TX. She had three children with Mr Proctor.

Anyway, if you are still looking for info, I found a marriage of Lucian D. Smith and Dan L. Jay in Eddy County, New Mexico on January 2, 1932.

Find a grave-died 10JUN1960 buried Restlawn Memorial Park.
HIs wife Kitty Fay Bard also buried there. She died 11Jan1955 while visiting her sister in Tulso OK.

Death Information Lookup - Charles Crary d. 1885, El Paso

I am looking for information on death of Charles Crary. I found a newspaper article on Ancestry.com. It reads: "A Bricklayer Ends His Life - El Paso Sept. 24, 1885 -Charles Crary, a bricklayer, was found drowned in an irrigating canal in the suburbs of the city, this morning. Drinking, caused by domestic trouble, it is thought, caused him to suicide". This article was in the Galveston Daily News the next day. This was in 1885. I believe this to be my great-great grandfather Charles Crary who left Cincinnati, Ohio and went to Texas. An Ancestry message board I found said he was an alcoholic, his wife in Ohio contracted TB, he left his two sons with wife's parents. After discovering this, I found a letter that indicated he went to Texas and no one knows anything after that. Could anyone please help me? He must have remarried. Surely some info would be somewhere in El Paso. Thank you so very much.

You have posted the obit of A D Bowen who was born Holly Springs, Marshall Co MISSISSIPPI 14 Oct 1934 died in Fairfield, Solano CA 2009.

HE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE HALLIE (not HOLLIE) ERWIN BOWEN OF EL PASO CO TEXAS. He just happened to have a YOUNGER brother named James Edward Bowen born after 1934 died before A D died 14 July 2009.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rannie, mother, Hollie, and brothers, Charles, Ranniel, Moutry and James Edward Bowen. A. D. Bowen was the oldest of his NINE siblings. Ranniel is actually Rannie L Bowen and do not find a "Moutry" Bowen in SS death index.

Surviving siblings in 2009 were Annie Lois Bowen; Albert Bowen; Van Louis Bowen 09 Aug 1948 - 18 Apr 2011 Evanston, Cook Co IL; Robert Lee Bowen and sister-in-law Geraldine Bowen.

KEY LOCATIONS: Holley Springs, Marshall Co MS, Chicago and Evanston IL both in Cook County where he married Judy Ruden Parks in 1952.

I can't thank you enough for this information. It is for the granddaughter of this man and her mother (his daughter) never knew where or for sure, how he died. His wife, Mabel, a new-born baby and their 2 year old son all died in 1918 within 5 days in Hoquiam WA during the Flu Epidemic. He had this daughter and a son that survived. Thank you, thank you!

Searching for the death of Frederick Wiebold in 1929 to early 1930 in El Paso area. He is listed in the 1929 Polk Directory, occupation brakeman (railroad). Story goes that he may have died from a knife wound. Granddaughter is very anxious to find information.

Thank you so much. I am mailing a letter to her today! Interesting isn't it that her name is VIRGINIA. I hope that she was given that name because of and told many stories of her family back in Virginia because my great-uncle (brother of my maternal great grandfather and her direct relative) was the only sibling in his family that left Virginia and relocated to Texas. Reconnecting branches of family is my favorite part of genealogical research. Thx for your help!

I searched on whitepages.com and found a Virginia Butler 915-757-1077. She is 85 years, one of family member was Eugene Winston Butler. 9565 Rutledge Pl, El Paso, TX 79924. According to the 04 April 1930 census Frank O Perez age 47 (born abt 1883) was 24 when he married Mary (age 42 born abt 1888) she said she was 19, lived in Hanford, Kings Co CA 1930.

Based on those statements they already had about 4 of their children so I would say they married around 1910 - 1912. Mary said she crossed the border in 1908 born about 1898. I can not find any concrete evidence on their entry through El Paso Texas.

I do not find a W W I draft registration card in Texas that I believe to be Frank for 1917 - 1918 nor a marriage record.

I do find a Mary Perez listed in the SS Death index that died in Hanford Jan 1975 says she was born 15 Aug 1892 however there is no California death record for her. Then I find a Mary G Perez that died in San Joaquin Co 15 Aug 1889 - 15 July 1972.

FamilySearch.org has a death certificate for Clarence H.J. Heitgen, who was stillborn in 1913. His parents are listed as H.J. Heitgen and Bertha E. Black.

www.epcounty.com (El Paso County public records) has a few deed records concerning Herman. The last is an affidavit indicating that Herman died in Sawtelle, California on 25 October 1924 and was buried in San Antonio, Texas.

Her father was a James Browning from around Cisco/Granger area.

Her mother was an "Idabell (sp?) Bowman.
They divorced in the early 1900s and Idabelle remarried a Richard E Nelms (senior I believe). I do not know who or if James remarried.

thank you for your post, The full name of the Lee Jose I am interested in was Alfred Lee Jose, He did ride in 101 Wild West show, was a trick rider and performed at Madison square garden. don't know what his stage name was. he also taught horsemanship in a N.Y.City riding accadamy and also at the exclusive Del Monte Hotel in Monterey, Calif. There He met and married a hispanic lady in 1926, he retired and raised and trained race horses. they lived in the Santa Cruz Mnts. until his death in 1889 at the age of 98. If your friend has any more questions I would be glad to respond.

Hi,
My grandfather ( Charles Leslie Kline) was born in Texas about 1898 and lived there until about 1932, then the family moved to California. My mother(Katherine Joanne Kline) was born in El Paso on Sept 7, 1930. Folklore is that my Grandfather worked a trapeze artist before going to work for "Kress" five and dime store. I am really interested to find proof of his time in the circus.
Here in Santa Barbara, Ca our directories, from back then, give the occupation of everyone in it. Just wondering if anyone knows if your directories do the same. If so I would love it someone could look up my grandpa, between 1910-1930, and see what it says his occupation was. His first and middle names were interchanged during this tome frame, as I have found him by both names.

My friend grew up in California and rode horses daily with a Lee Jose. He had connections to Spain, Texas, and also traveled to Europe at one time with a wild west show that went bust. He was a VERY accomplished horseman and may have also rode at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna after the show went broke. I think his wife was related to the Joe Moreno family of California. Might be the same person you are wanting information on, the time period is right.

looking for any info on Sanchez side of family. Grandfather-Gregorio Sanchez born 06 Sept 1910 in Smeltertown. Not sure when he and my grandmother Cruz Paez were married, but the first child Ramon Sanchez was born June 28,1936. They had a total of 10 children born 1937 (Atanacio),1939(Oscar),1941(Eriberto),1943 (Socorro),194(Arturo),1947(Raul),1949(Jose),1951 (Salvador) and 1959 (Maria). Brothers and sisters of Gregorio are Carmen Valenzuela ,Luis,Guadalupe, Elena, Candelario and Atanacio. Any info greatly appreciated.

Info Request: Adolf Fischer, d. July 10, 1904 in El Paso, murder?

This relative, born Feb 10, 1878, in Castroville, TX, died in El Paso in 1904. Prior, he told his family he had witnessed a murder there and was subpoened for the trial. Before the trial he was found dead. Family was told death by 'exposure' but when the body was received back in Castroville they found he had been severely beaten. Recent find of death record shows 'typhoid fever' and that he died in the 'Hotel D___ (unreadable). Such a puzzle! I'd love to find out more information for my elderly mother who has wondered about this mystery since she was a young girl. My questions: are there newspaper or court records that might discuss murder trials of the day and/or local deaths? Any other advice on finding out more? Thanks so much!

I would appreciate if some one out there can find any information on William D Wright and his daughter Agnes B who married Meleatis E Andrews and she was 18 years old at the time of marriage, William was married to Ellen and they had a son name Eben my grandfather who was born there in texas in 1883 I know they lived there in 1891 since they had sold some property in san antonio, then Ellen returned to michigan with Eben he was 16 at this time and they were here in michigan for the 1900 census, but she was listed as a widow and i would some information on both where he died and how he died and if Agnes had any children and where she had lived.

My name is Ginger L. Wright I am the great granddaughter of William D Wright, he was married to Ellen P Wright, they lived in El Paso tx after they sold some property in San Antonio tx which was a saloon, they had Daughter name Agnes B.
Wright who had gotten married on 11 May 1886 to Meleatis E. Andrews and I am trying to find out what happened to William D Wright since his wife and son returned to Michigan about 1900 or before, according to the census, Eben W. Wright was about 16 years of age when they came to Michigan, it stated that she was a widow and I am trying to fine out why and I am trying to find out any information on Agnes B and her husband like where they had lived, if they had any children. if any one out there can help me I would greatly appreciate it, i am doing my fathers side of the father and they have a great deal to do with it.

I understand this is pretty old, but I was doing some searching on my grandmother's side. Her mother was Severiana Lopez, maiden name Vasquez. Married to Isidoro Lopez. Was wondering if possibly there was a connection. She had at least two children, I am aware of, Hilaria (my grandmother) and Frances.
