Sylvia,
I found this on an old post way back in 2004. I was wondering if I could have a copy of your family tree. I don't know if you ever found out about Guadalupe Zambrano.
I believe she was taken by my grandfather
Alejandro Ortiz Rodela and his wife Petra Cordova Licano and raised as their daughter. I always thought of her as my Aunt Lupe. She eventually married a Burrola and moved to California where she passed away in 2004 in Porterville.
I hope you receive this message and are able to answer me.
Thanks, Sylvia Provencio
My e-mail address is: madrepima@yahoo.com

Hi Maria,
!!Feliz Navidad!! This is cool. You're the first prima from Mariano's familia I've "met". It would be great to get to know you. My great-grandfather was Jose Teofilo and he was married 2 times and had a daughter by a "girlfriend" in between his 2 marriages. As far as I know Mariano was the only "politico" in the family. I found a Jose Sierra serving as Constable for Dona Ana County in New Mexico in the Rio Grande Republican newspaper for 7-17-1896, but I'm not sure if this my Great-grandfather or not as we don't know much about the Sierra side of the familia. I'm wondering who the Sheriff is.

I haven't had much luck with Sierra side of the familia would like to get to know you better and share what I have found with you. Can I have your e-mail address? Mine is fidomk@yahoo.com.

Hi
My name is Maria Najera Smith. My great grandfather on my Dad's side was Mariano Sierra, his wife was Mariana. My Dad's mother was Guadalupe Cortes Sierra Najera. Yes, my great grandfather was mayor of Socorro and I've heard relatives say his brother was a sheriff. My mother has a photo which shows both Mariano and his wife Mariana and my grandmother and a sibling of hers. My second cousins in Northern California know a lot more about the family history and even own my great uncle's desk which is a family heirloom. My Dad who passed away 9 years ago was very fond of his grandparents and every time one of his children were to be born he tried to convince my mother to names us after them. I came the closest, with the name, Maria, a compromise between my Father and Mother.
I know this is a vey old post but hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Maria Smith

The original messageboard entry I made regarding the Tellez from San Eli was incorrect and I have since then found out that the Tellez I was researching had actually changed their name from Delfin to Tellez so I did not go much further with the Tellez name. I have not come across the names you included in your response but if I do I will forward it to you.

Guadalupe?

In the San Elizario parish registers for a couple of entries for people named Sierra, I found references to their being from "Guadalupe." The family I'm looking at was in San Elizario area in early 1800s, and I have the impression that Guadalupe is something not too far away.

I see (from Google Earth) that there is a Guadalupe somewhat west of the city of Chihuahua, but that really isn't too close to El Paso area. Is there something else I should be looking at?

moises adopted by foster parents in yonkers then to texas

My name is Elsa,I have such a desire to know my roots. Most of all I am trying to find, my mother Ruth Cordero CABAN, side of the family. Her mom Clotilde CABAN, died when my mom ruth, was very young, about 10 yrs old. Her mom had massive heart attack,in Brooklyn (Kings county Hosp)in 1953, she was just 48 yrs old. For whatever reason comunication with my mom's sister in Puerto Rico ceased. Mom never heard of them ever agin, She is now 69 and hasn't stopped mentioning ever since I can remember that she would like to someday meet her first or second cousins, that live in PUERTO RICO. My mom's Granddad (Juan Caban) and her Aunts born in Moca, PR(Flora & Francisca Caban) lived in Barrio Espino Añasco, PR in the years 1945 & 50"s. My mom remembers, her mother getting mail often from this place and time. If you can please help me find her cousins or give me ideas on how to go about it. I would greatly appreciate it. I want her to have this before she leaves this world. I would like to find how i can confirn that Juan Caban and Abad Caban are brothers, also. Very important. Thank you and God bless you. email: holyb4him@aol.com Elsa
Also looking desperately for my mom's youngest brother, Born Moises Cordero, march 18, 1946.Adopted by his 3 years taking care of him, foster parents that lived in yonker, ny. He attended yonkers public school from about when he was 7 yrs old through 11, when his adoption was signed by my grand dad,so that that moises and his adopted parents can freely move to where they wanted to go in Texas. Correspondense was received from Moises to my father severeal times, till his adopted parents ask to stop so he can start fresh. Mom remembers that he wrote to their dad that he was taking violin lessons. We think Moises first name was not changed just the last name except for maybe from spanish Moises to Moses because at 11 years old my mom remembers them calling him by his first name. (My grandfather had permission to visit him because social services got involved due to my fathers illness not because of negligense, till he was officially adopted several yrs later, like I wrote before, they wanted to move to Texas We have his original birth certificate. ny ideas??? he is the only living sibling of my mom plus she doesnt know any of her cousins. Please help. Thank you, Elsa
again. God Bless. holyb4him@aol.com

Texas had a Census in 1840 not included were San Eli, Soccoro, or Ysleta. The area was MEXICO. I have the full Mexican Census taken in 1841. It was translated as best as possible by Soccoro High School Students. The female lineage of the Giron names are listed in Ysleta...thru Gregorio Lucero 1841 --- an entry was spouse Juana Trujillo instead of Granillo?. very similar. The lineage name Dearo thru Clemente Varela is in San Elizario 1841. I do not have infromation on his parents other than the names you provided on your wonderful tree in the San Elizario Museum. I have a copy of your tree. I also obtained your information for Jesus "Antonio" Quintanilla via a 1900 census but it is a hard to read copy. I have not been able to find the census anywhere for Travis County 1900. With the new Mexican census info I will update birth dates as soon as possible.
Respectfully,
Louie

I am following Cruz Giron line who is Jose De La Luz Giron's daughter, she married Antonio Quintanilla had my mother Micaela Gloria Quintanilla. My great grandfather is buried in San Eli cemetery. He is in all the census info but name spelled wrong. Luis, Luz, Luceron. All the children match my tio's as Marcial-Esteban-Sabino-Jose-Magdelena wife ect...I am building a tree with 330 names of his decendants. I am interested in Jose De La Luz brothers and sisters as I seem to have located one of his sister's through you in LINA GIRON :)

Yes this is interesting. Where did you get this info, thru the net or did you have to go somewhere. Let me how you found this. I do know Ruperto's father name was Carlos, but I don't know his mother's name. On Vicenta Lopes I don't know what her parents names were. So I still need to do some research.

I very much appreciate your response to my inquiry but since I entered this particular post I have discovered that my Leandro Telles is not the brother of Victoriano, nor was he from San Eli. I currently have his parents identified as Pedro Telles and Luz Pedrasa. The other Leandro and his brother Victoriano did live in the same area at the same time as my Leandro but they are two different people. There is a strong suspicion that my Leandro Telles was originally Leandro Delfin and that there was a name change. Its either that or his is the illigitimate son of the town school teacher who lived in Mesilla at the time.

I've been finding a lot of info on this familia but have yet to find a connection to our familia. Hilario's parents were Jose Maria Sierra y Eusebia Guerra in what I've found in a Baptizmal record for one of my Great-grandfather's brothers, Jose Martin Sierra in 1845. Whether this Jose Maria Sierra is the same person who was also married to Maria de los Angeles Saenz, I don't know. Thanks for your help.

Gracias,
Mark

Hilario Sierra y Dolores Sambrano

I'm looking for information about my Grandfather's side of the family. His name was Estanislao Sierra and he was born in La Mesa, NM and died in Canutillo, TX. His father was Jose Teofilo Sierra, believed to be born in San Elizario, TX. Jose's parents were Hilario Sierra and Dolores Sambrano. Hilario and Dolores had at least 5 hijos: Jose Martin Sierra, born 1 Nov 1845 in San Eli, died 1917 in Las Cruces, NM, Maria de Jesus who married Crua Padia, Mariano, who was elected amyor of Socorro, TX in 1897, Anastacia de Altagracia, born 11 Apr 1843 in San Eli. Hilario Sierra's parents were Jose Maria Sierra and Eusebia Guerra. The 1803 census of the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe del Paso del Rio del Norte shows Jose Maria Sierra and his wife, Maria de los Angeles Saenz, 2 hijos; Jose Maria and Timoteo.
