Dr. Stanley G. Childers - October 12, 2005

Dr. Stanley G. Childers, 84, passed away Oct. 10, 2005. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy E. Childers; children, Gerald Norman (Sylvia) Childers of Hampden, Maine, Marilyn C. (Dan) McGrath of Elizabeth, Colo., John Walt (Mary) Childers of Centennial, Colo., and Marie Carol Childers of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Joseph Edward and Lois Childers; brother, William Norman Childers; and great-grandson, Caleb Fenwick Childers.

Dr. Childers was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Colony, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a general practitioner in the 1950s in Cantonment, Fla., and an ophthalmologist in Pueblo, from 1961 to 1986, at the Eye Clinic, where he practiced along with Dr. Dardis.

His favorite pastimes were fishing, classic jazz and dancing and was a proud supporter of Summit Jazz Foundation, Trout Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited.
Member of First Presbyterian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 145, PAF Users Group-Genealogy, Delta Chi Fraternity, Colorado Medical Society, and past president of Colorado Eye Society.

There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Brad Munroe officiating.
