The Family History Library in Salt Lake City has a biography of Alfred Sidney Hadden containing his entire history dating back to his grandfather Samuel Hadden in th 1700's in Kentucky. This history tells how Alfred helped to build the rock church in Parowan, Iron County. It is fascinating and has dates, children, et. I don't have a good copy of this history. It is on microfilm. We found the copy of this by searching in the family histories section of the Family Search computers at the library. I have seen both spellings of Alfred and Alford but mostly have seen Alfred. I'm sure it is the same person. Alfred had three wives. Julia Ann Hall, Mary Caroline Carter, and Sarah Ann Carter. His father's name was Samuel Hadden and mother's name was Mary. Grandfather was also Samuel and grandmother is also Mary. There seems to be confusion after this due to the fact that the Mt. Sterling, Montgomery County, KY records were burned during the civil war. Alfred was born January 13, 1813 Mt. Sterling, Montgomery, KY. He is my husband's third great-grandfather.
