James Lamar Martin, age 82, died on Sunday, June 19, 2005
in St. George, Utah. Born August 31, 1922 in Central, Arizona, to Sarah Curtis and Josiah Martin. He married Alpha Mae Brandon February 14, 1942 in Phoenix, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Temple, March 22,
1951. She died April 23, 1997. He was a great artist working
in oil painting and wood. A master woodworker and carpenter,
Lamar created beautiful inlay, desks, cradles, cedar chests and homes. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served honorably in the US Navy during World War II. Survivors include his daughter
Pamela Sue Nahinu of Sacramento, California, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Donna
(Art) Rennels of Kanab, Utah, Alta Brandon, and Pat Brandon,
and many nieces and nephews whom he loved. He was preceded in death by his wife Alpha Mae Martin, children
Janice and Larry, and siblings; Abner, Duvall, Joy,
Lawrence, Violet, Frances, Josiah, Clyde, May, and Opal.
